This overly polite atmosphere made the scene awkward for a moment. Tasha immediately glared at her father. "Dad, don't be so formal!"
Leo said, "You're too kind. I'm just here for a casual meal with Sunny."
A flash of jealousy crossed Tasha's eyes.
She had thought Leo's kindness toward Sunny was ordinary, but seeing his natural demeanor, as if they were one, left her no room to interject.
Moira happily sized up Leo. Though she often saw him in films, seeing him in person was disbelief-inducing—he was more handsome than on screen, taller, and most importantly, his kindness toward Sunny seemed genuine.
"Moira, hello," Leo greeted Moira courteously.
Moira's smile widened. "Let's move to the living room. I've prepared some coffee."
Apart from her love for money, Moira shared the warmth of many housewives.
Sunny turned and brought in the gifts from the car. "Mom, these are from Leo as a token of his regards. I'll take them upstairs for you."
With that, she headed upstairs—her relationship with that father-daughter duo was evidently strained. She couldn't be bothered to pretend.
Tasha sat beside, shy and silent.
As the head of the household, Eben hastily poured a cup of coffee for Leo. "Please have some tea. Our humble abode might not meet your expectations."
"Thank you," Leo replied indifferently.
Tasha's gaze swept over him—more handsome than rumored, with an innate aristocratic aura that common actors couldn't feign.
"Tasha, greet Leo. You'll be working at his company soon," Eben prompted when his daughter remained silent.
Tasha's face flushed with nervousness as she murmured, "Hi Mr. Chavez, nice meeting you here."
Leo finally turned to her, his tone cool. "Work hard, and opportunities will come your way."
"Thank you, Mr. Chavez! I'll do my best!" Tasha said excitedly.
At that moment, Sunny descended the stairs and asked Moira, "Mom, do you need help with anything?"
In the past, she would have eagerly assisted with chores. Now, returning here, her instincts still leaned toward helping out.
"No need, today you just focus on taking care of your boyfriend!" Moira said with a smile.
Sunny let out a dry laugh and sat beside Leo.
Tasha could barely mask her jealousy—once the center of attention in the family, all eyes were now on Sunny. Worse still, Sunny sat beside her crush as if it were the most natural thing in the world. The feeling was disgusting.
Eben strained to make conversation. Running out of topics, he asked, "Yesterday's Royal Pack's wedding caused a citywide sensation. The scene must have been lively."
Leo, not wanting the atmosphere to stay awkward, casually replied, "Yes, it was quite lively."
"And you and Sunny... when do you plan to tie the knot?" Eben's question nearly made Tasha furious.
Sunny lowered her head to eat snacks—she and them had little in common, so she busied herself eating.
Hearing the question, she glanced at Tasha, who, as expected, had a dark expression, glaring at her with resentment.
Sunny knew Tasha harbored a crazy infatuation for Leo. Her mood must be terrible right now.
"We're discussing it. It might not be long," Leo said, looking at Moira as if seeking her approval.
Moira quickly nodded. "Sure, it's your decision. We have no objections."
Seeing Moira, Leo's brow furrowed in confusion—he had never met her before. He had assumed Sunny would resemble her mother, but they looked nothing alike—Moira had a plump, round face and ordinary features, while Sunny was a beauty in the making, with bright eyes, a high nose bridge, and full lips that were particularly charming when she smiled.
Leo couldn't help but wonder if Sunny took after her father.
Otherwise, how could she bear no resemblance to her mother?
But upon closer thought, Sunny did bear a striking resemblance to Olivia—Olivia was exceptionally beautiful. She and Moira didn't look like sisters at all.
The living room fell into an awkward silence, with everyone at a loss for words.
Tasha stared at Leo with starry eyes, imagining how blissful it would be to have such a man by her side.
Yet now, that happiness belonged solely to Sunny.
Leo could sense Tasha's amorous gaze but paid it no mind.
He couldn't pinpoint the reason, but he simply didn't care for her type—perhaps love truly requires a special kind of attraction.
Fortunately, lunchtime arrived.
At the dining table, Leo was reserved, responding only when spoken to. However, he subtly looked out for Sunny during the meal, reminding her to avoid spicy dishes—her injured hand hadn't fully recovered and needed a bland diet.
After lunch, Sunny and Leo prepared to leave.
Moira and Eben saw them off to the door, watching their car disappear into the distance.
Tasha stood at the doorway, her spirit broken and her face pale.
Eben turned to his daughter, wanting to offer comfort, but Tasha stomped her foot in anger and stormed upstairs.
Moira, who had been focused on Sunny and Leo, hadn't noticed Tasha's mood. Seeing Eben's expression, she asked, "What's wrong with her?"
"I'll check on her," Eben said, his face also heavy.
