Louisa's POV
"Not really. I'll escort this young lady back to the carriage." Alpha Zackery stood up as well, holding me in his arms.
"Are you sure, Your Excellency? You don't get this kind of sport in King's Land." Lucas leered at him and asked.
"I'm very sure of that." Alpha Zackery replied, walking me out of the tent.
Lucas kicked Darren and walked out of the tent with us, followed by Lucian and Darren from a distance.
I strained my ears to listen to what they were saying.
"He's done with you, Darren." Lucian's voice was cold and blunt.
"Master Lucian, please give me another chance..." Darren begged in despair.
Lucian asked in a reserved voice, "When I got you back from the brothel, what did I tell you?"
"You asked me to serve Master Lucas faithfully and I should always do what he has asked me to do."
"So what makes you think that you can outsmart and betray him?"
"I'm sorry, Mast Lucian... Please give me another chance. I promise I'll..."
"You've failed, Darren. There won't be another chance for you. You'll join the slaves to be one of the prey in today's hunting, so everyone will be hunting for you. If you can outlast others, you'll be taken away by your uncle. This is the last mercy you'll get from us."
"Master Lucian, please don't do this to me... My uncle... He will sell me again on the slave market. I can no longer be sold at a good price..." Darren pleaded.
"What will happen to you is no longer my concern. Now, change into the prey suit and run for your life." Lucian said decisively.
"Master Lucian..."
"How could you be so stupid? What was on your mind? Did you literally think that you could let that she-wolf get your imprint and kill her to bring your brother back to life through some dark magic tricks? So that you can also get back at Lucas? Do you know how ridiculous your plan sounds? Do you want to die with her? Is that what you want?" Lucian's voice sounded irritated.
Darren replied in a stutter, "I don't... I don't want to kill her... Master Lucian... All I want is to be set free and run away with her. I don't want to die with her... I want to live with her because I... I fell in love with her..."
Having heard what Darren had said, I suddenly stopped walking and remained still there.
All the days and nights we had spent with each other flashed past my mind.
He said he had fallen in love with me.
I turned back and looked at him only to see his back. Then, he put on an orange suit and got escorted away by the soldiers.
Then, I saw Lucian staring at me with a dark look on his face.
Then, he turned back and walked away with Lucas without looking back.
I covered my mouth so that I wouldn't scream out.
"What happened, little girl? Why did you stop?" I heard Alpha Zackery's voice next to me.
"I don't want to go to the carriage. I want to go hunting," I said.
Alpha Zackery frowned and said, "Are you sure? You do know they hunt real people instead of animals, don't you?"
"I do," I said. "But I have to be there. It's very important for me."
"I personally can't put up with this kind of brutality. But I can't let you go there all by yourself."
"Will can come with me." I bit my lips and said.
"The little vampire boy?"
I looked at the cloudy sky and said, "The heat is almost going now. He'll be fine."
Alpha Zackery thought for a while and said, "OK. I've already summoned my physician to bring him to us. And, you can take my horse with you."
A soldier walked towards us with a giant white horse with golden manes.
Alpha Zackery patted his neck and said, "His name is Blanco. He's a bit shy, but he's a very good horse."
The horse quietly stroked his head against Alpha Zackery's hand.
I wanted to pet him, but he snorted alertly and stepped back a bit. I sensed that he didn't want me to get closer to him.
Alpha Zackery took up my hand and placed it gently on Blanco's head.
Blanco grunted and shook his head from side to side.
"Hey, easy, old chap. This lady is very important to me. I want you to take her to where she wants to go and bring her back to me safely, OK?" Alpha Zackery asked.
Blanco took a few steps back and bowed to me.
I bowed back immediately.
"You can ride on him now," Alpha Zackery smiled at me and said.
He lifted me up and placed me on horseback. I took up the rein and patted Blanco.
Blanco neighed cheerfully. I could tell that he couldn't wait to take me for a ride.
Then, I saw a blast of blood mist approaching me.
"Will, is that you?" I asked and stretched out my arms.
Will's figure emerged in the mist and before I knew it, he had already sat in front of me in my arms.
"Lisa, I miss you so much!" He said while looking up at me.
I covered him with the cape and lowered my head to give him a kiss.
I didn't know why. After he changed me into an undead, I felt there must have been some sort of connection established between us.
I looked back and saw Alpha Zackery's physician, the Shaman doctor, standing next to him.
"I've attended to his wounds, so he's recovered now. He's suffering from malnutrition and I don't think he's fit for a riding trip. But if you want to take him with you, you might want to feed him with some warm animal blood later on." The Shaman doctor lifted his head and said to me.
"Thank you for treating him," I said and patted Blanco, who darted off like an arrow leaving the bow.
"Where are we going, Lisa?" He looked up at me and asked.
I looked at the hunting cavalry in the distance and said, "We're going to save Darren. Can you help me?"
Will looked at me with determination in his eyes.
"I'll do everything for you, Lisa," he said.
