Chapter 61: Jean Broody vs. Bradley Jackson ~ When suppressed desires explode… Let’s play!

“The alarm…” Jean sat up.
“Still engaged. I’ll need you to stay up here. Take this.” Bradley gave Jean a gun. “Lock the door after me and don’t come out till I tell you it’s safe to. Do you hear me?”
“Yes. Have you called Ty?”
“I’m yet to. I need to check on the guys outside first…be very sure we’re in danger before I call him. I’m just being cautious. Stay here, okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” Jean was already out of bed and pulling on his jeans. “You know there’s only one entrance that anyone can break through right?”
“Yep. The sliding door that opens onto the deck.” Bradley responded. “Wait for my signal.” With that, Bradley left the room.
Bradley’s next stop was the kitchen. His blazer was still on the Kitchen Island where he’d left it. He groaned when he took out the phone and saw over twenty missed calls. Just as he was about to hit the dial button, a call came through. Bradley braced himself for Ty’s rant.
“Ty?”
“Where the fuck have you been, Jackson?” Ty’s bellow made Jackson wince. “I’ve…”
“Never mind where I was,” Bradley said calmly. “Are they here?”
Ty sighed. “Yes. One of the guards alerted us about ten minutes ago. He left his post briefly to go and help one of your neighbours. Thank god he did. When he returned he saw the trucks. Grupert is still using mercenaries.”
“The other guards?”
“Johnny says it looks like they were given tranquilizer shots. At least they’re not dead.”
“Why haven’t they attacked then?” Bradley wondered.
“They’re obviously waiting for Grupert. We’ll be there soon. Don’t go outside, Jackson. Stay in. But show them who the boss is if they dare enter before we get there.”
“Oh, I’m gonna.” Bradley drawled even as he heard a sound coming from the living area. “I’ve got to go, Ty. See you soon.”
“Soon. And Jackson?”
“Uh-huh?”
“Keep Jean safe.”
“You got it.”
Bradley slipped the phone into his pocket as he stepped into the living area. The sight that met him would have made him laugh had it not been for the seriousness of the situation he was in.
“What are you doing down…no, no, wait…where did you get that?” Bradley rasped as he stared at Jean. The silly man was no longer in the jeans pants he’d seen him pull on in the playroom not too long ago. He’d actually changed into camouflage pants, a camouflage t-shirt, and combat boots. And he was holding two guns, the one he’d given him and another…obviously his own.
“Halloween costume.” Jean grinned. “Cool huh?”
Bradley felt so proud of himself for succeeding in holding in his laughter. He chose not to answer Jean.
“I asked you to stay up there.” Bradley stood facing Jean. He smelled minty. He’d obviously brushed his teeth.
“If you really thought I’d stay up there and leave you to fight on your own, then you don’t know me very well. I’m here to help you.”
“This is not about having sex or giving medical care, Jean.” Bradley was surprised at how calm he was on the outside because inside, he was like a volcano about to erupt. The thought of anything happening to the man standing before him made him physically weak. “Those are the two things you’re good at. Stick to it.”
“Ouch.” Jean’s hand went to his chest as he staggered back as if he’d been shot. “Damn, soldier…with that mouth, you don’t need bullets.”
“Shut up and listen to me, you idiot…”
“Why are you wasting your breath?” Jean waved his guns around. “I ain’t listening, bruh.” He drawled.
“Jean there’s an army out there. Much as I intend to fight for my life, there’s the possibility that I might not make it. But dead or alive, I don’t intend to give anyone the chance to take your life. So please, do as I say.”
“Might not make it huh?” Jean’s voice was so quiet. “You better make sure you do. Because I won’t make it either if you don’t.” He stared at Bradley, his eyes suspiciously bright. “I wouldn’t want to make it.” It was a whisper but Bradley heard him perfectly.
“Fuck.” Bradley muttered, his heart pounding so hard he thought it was going to probably fall out of his chest. He felt euphoric joy but at the same time, sheer fear. Bradley shook with the overwhelming emotions inside. He didn’t know what to say. “Fuck!”
“Yeah, fuck.” Jean gave a sad smile. “We’re in this together. Now, be a good boy and tell me the plan.”
Bradley closed the distance between them and captured Jean’s mouth in a kiss so tender both men forgot the danger around them. “You look sexy as fuck in that getup by the way,” Bradley murmured against Jean’s lips when they came up for air. “But much as I love you in this outfit and would love to see you in action, I want to live for you even more.” Bradley captured Jean’s mouth in another kiss when Jean attempted to speak. But this time, his hand went to the back of Jean’s neck as they kissed. In order to live, he needed to fight hard and dirty. He couldn’t afford to get distracted by wondering whether Jean was safe.
One moment they were kissing and the next, Jean had gone slack against Bradley. He was out cold.
“Sorry, baby,” Bradley muttered as he picked Jean up, fireman style. “You mean too much to me for me to gamble with your life.”
Bradley took Jean back to the playroom and placed him under the bed which although big, was as high as a massage bed. The flowing sheets made it impossible to see under the bed at first glance so Bradley thought it was the perfect place. After a quick kiss on Jean’s lips, he locked the door and went to hang the key where it usually hung in Jean’s bedroom. Then he sent a quick text to Ty, telling him where Jean was and where the key to that room was, just in case… Then he went downstairs to wait for the enemy.
Bradley didn’t have to wait. Just as he got downstairs, there was a loud smash against the front door. The twerps had obviously scaled over the wall into the house. The door didn’t budge but the alarm went crazy. With an amused look on his handsome face, Bradley calmly turned off the alarm. He checked the monitor and saw that the fools were moving away from the door, obviously with the intention of looking for a more ‘favourable’ entrance.
Bradley knew that they would discover the sliding door in no time and smash it down. He quickly used the remote trigger that Jean had shown him, to open the sliding door. Why let the idiots destroy a perfectly good door just to get to him? He’d rather they waltzed right in. The sooner they got in, the sooner he could get some action. His orders were to stay in, right? Let no one say Bradley Jackson didn’t like taking orders.
A grin widened Bradley’s lips as he watched the first four mercenaries enter the opened sliding door cautiously and with confused looks on their faces. Like a moth to a flame, Bradley thought. Unfortunately, this time, he wasn’t going to shoot to maim. After all, these guys were not his fellow soldiers. He was going to shoot to kill. He didn’t think they’d bother but he wasn’t going to risk any of those fools going past him and discovering Jean. Hell no. Someone was going to lose his life that day. But it sure as hell wasn’t going to be Bradley Jackson. He planned on staying alive for Jean.
“Let’s play!” Bradley whispered.
