Fatty Betty's Diary: My Bully's Crush

Marcus’s Warning

Ch. 209 / 251 Mar 20, 2026

The hallway outside the locker room was dimly lit, the faint hum of fluorescent lights adding to the heavy tension that hung in the air. Stacey had just finished practice, her duffel bag slung over her shoulder and her hair damp with sweat. She barely noticed Marcus leaning against the wall until he stepped in front of her, blocking her path.

“What now?” she asked, her tone sharp as she tried to sidestep him.

Marcus’s expression stopped her short. There was no trace of his usual smugness or sarcasm. His jaw was tight, his eyes dark with something that looked uncomfortably like concern.

“Don’t trust Monica,” he said, his voice low but firm. “Or your dad.”

Stacey narrowed her eyes, clutching the strap of her bag. “Why does it matter to you?” she snapped. “Since when do you care about who I trust?”

Marcus exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “Because I know how it feels to be used by people you’re supposed to trust,” he said. “They’re playing you, Stacey. Don’t let them.”

Stacey’s glare hardened. “You don’t understand,” she said, her voice trembling with barely contained frustration. “I just want a family. I want to believe that they’re trying to do right by me.”

“And I get that,” Marcus said, stepping closer. “But wanting something doesn’t mean it’s real. Monica and your dad? They’re not looking out for you. They’re looking out for themselves. Whatever they’re offering, it comes with strings.”

Stacey shook her head, turning away as her grip on the strap of her bag tightened. “Why should I believe you? You’re not exactly a shining example of trustworthiness.”

Marcus’s shoulders slumped slightly, but his gaze didn’t waver. “You’re right. I’ve made a lot of mistakes. But this isn’t about me. It’s about you. You deserve better than people who only see you as a pawn.”

For a moment, the hallway was silent except for the faint sound of distant voices from the gym. Stacey turned back to him, her expression unreadable. “I’ll handle it,” she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.

Marcus nodded, though his jaw remained tight. “Just… be careful,” he said, stepping aside to let her pass.

As Stacey walked away, the weight of his warning settled heavily on her shoulders. She didn’t look back, but his words lingered, gnawing at the fragile hope she had clung to for so long.
