Angela cleaned her wet cheeks with the back of her hand and stood up from the bed, she walked slowly towards the door. Antonio grabbed her arm, stopping her. “Where do you think you are going?” He rasped. “To my room”. Angela replied with a tight frown. “You are not strong enough to leave the emergency room, I will advise you to go back to bed and rest”. He said gently. Angela was glaring at him, probably cursing him in her heart. He pressed the back of his palm on her forehead. “Your fever is still very high”. “Get your hands off me”. Angela spat out trying to pull her hand out of his. Triggered, Antonio grabbed her small face in his hand, digging his fingers painfully into her cheeks. “You don’t seem to have learnt your lesson, Freckles. Don’t push me, you won’t like the outcome”. He spoke to her face, their eyes staring into each other’s. Angela’s eyes clouded with tears, brows arched tightly in a frown. Antonio’s grip slowly dropped, he turned to the door while Angela crashed on the floor crying quietly. He noticed and side glanced at her. “What would you like to eat? You seem weak and pale, so you need food for your energy”. Angela ignored him. He got triggered again. “Stop ignoring me! I am trying to be a bit nice to you, if you screw up, you earned it”. He yelled at her. Then the emergency room door opened and Grandma Elizabeth was pushed in by a maid. She was delighted to see Angela awake and sound. Devia had informed her that Angela had awakened. “Dearest, you are awake..why..are you on the floor?” She asked a bit confused. Angela said nothing, just sobbing. The maid bowed and left. “Antonio, how can you stay there and watch your sick fiancé lie on the floor!” Grandma Elizabeth snapped angrily at her grandson. Antonio rolled his eyes in annoyance and went to Angela, he knelt on one knee offering a supportive hand, but she ignored him. Antonio, however, heaped her up in his arms and carried her to the bed. Angela didn’t put up a fight, or maybe she wanted to but had no strength to accomplish such a mission of attack. When he made her sit on the bed, Antonio went to the couch and dropped down there. Grandma Elizabeth strolled her chair towards the bed with a broad smile. “How are you doing my dearest?” She asked Angela softly. “I want to go home”. Angela replied. Grandma Elizabeth sighed. “I know it had been hard for you…” She gazed at Antonio, he had his head backwards with his eyes closed. “My grandson has been quite a handful to you..I know..and I am afraid you might wake up thinking this way…but you see, in all my years I haven’t seen him so disoriented and worried about anyone”. Angela scoffed in sarcasm, reacting to that statement. Grandma Elizabeth noticed but continued. “He has been in this room for days, all night watching you, I am sure you noticed that tired look on his face..he had been very worried about you...” Angela sniffed, clearing her nostrils, then she looked at the old woman. “You don’t have to tell me Grandma. I get it, he hurt me, almost unalive me and after he became worried for my sake. I am grateful, can’t you see how grateful I am!” Angela snapped out in tears. Antonio jumped from the couch with a warning finger. “Hey don’t talk to her that way”. Antonio rashly out at Angela “Antonio! !Basta ya!” Grandma Elizabeth shouted his name, and ‘enough’ in Spanish to caution him. Antonio froze at the spot. “She has every right to be angry at everyone, and I too have had enough of you!” Antonio clenched his fists tightly, trying to keep his cool. “You need to start thinking about what you do and the precautions! About the marriage.. my wish..I can see you are not capable of granting that. Let the young girl go home to her family!” Grandma Elizabeth sobbed. Angela paused crying and looked up at the crying old woman in shock. Antonio's cold gaze rose up to the wet face of his grandmother. “I can’t keep trying to make you better..I know it won't be easy for you, but I tried … your lovely parents in their graves they know I tried. What if she had died or something bad happened to her..I won’t forgive myself even in my grave”. She paused then with a seriousness on her face she concluded. “When you are ready to love to move on, you can bring flowers to my grave!” She pressed the button and a maid walked into the room to take her. Antonio's heart was pounding crazily. “Is that what you have to say? I tried my best to make you happy, to grant your death wish..” He snapped coldly. Grandma Elizabeth raised her hand so the maid stopped her wheelchair. She turned her wheelchair to look at her grandson, tears clouding her ears. “My wish is for you to be happy Antonio, and I can be alive to see it. That’s the only way to make me happy. Can you do that?” Antonio gulped hard, his eyes downcast, every vein in his body visible in restriction. The intense silence in the room made Angela nervous. The maid slowly pushed Grandma out of the room and closed the door. Angela too was dumbfounded by everything she heard, she felt guilty seeing the old woman in tears. Her gaze shifted to Antonio, he was looking terrible and broken. His eyes were so obnoxious that one could see his pains. Still, she doesn't feel any form of empathy for him. If his parents are dead then who is the man they called father, the one who he is not on good terms with? Why do I bother myself with their family crisis? Also, does this mean she is free to leave the mansion? Grandma Elizabeth just said he should let her go. “Fuck...I am horny.” Antonio's psychopathic laugh cuts into her thoughts. He gazed up at him and found his hand over his face laughing in a disturbing way then his eyes stabbed her. They made eye contact at that moment. He put his hands down into his pockets, his eyes lowered in a way that says they have been abused by some drugs. “You heard her..the contract is off”. Angela looked away, suddenly she didn't feel so angry anymore, not because of him but seeing Grandma Elizabeth in such a state made her feel terribly guilty. She signed to this, she lied from the beginning. “Also I am just being too emotional, that is one reason I got into this mess, emotional blackmail. If I don’t leave now I got a chance, who knows what will happen to me next? An unconscious state that lasts forever, I need to put myself first”. She said to herself only to look up and found Antonio in front of her. That startled her, he was far from her bedside just a minute ago, she was so into her thoughts she had no idea he walked that close to her. “The ring?” His weak green eyes stared deep into her brown ones. Angela blinked then realized seeing his hand gesture. “Oh…”.. She pulled the ring off her finger and gave it to him. Antonio straightened up and walked towards the door. “From now on you won’t be treated as my fiancé, but as a debtor, until you pay off your debt you will be free from my custody, you have 5 days”. “What?”
