Hearing this, Mirabel felt as if all the strength had been drained from her body: "Honey... do you know what you're saying?"
After the acquisition, Dalton Group would become a subsidiary of the M Group!
Aldrich ignored her and handed the contract back to Stuart: "Go back and tell your boss that the entire Dalton family has no objections. He can rest assured."
"Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Aldrich." After saying this, Stuart left the Dalton family with the lawyer.
A moment later, Vanya received a call from Stuart and simply smiled faintly.
Aldrich had always handled contracts for her father and valued their rigor above all else. How could he not see that this contract was only beneficial to the Dalton family, with no downsides?
For so many years, the Dalton family had appeared to be a towering tree, but inside, it was already riddled with rot.
A thorough overhaul was necessary to preserve its roots.
And this acquisition would only provide more security for Dalton Group, ensuring that the Dalton family could rise from the ashes.
Not a single ray of light could penetrate the dimly lit room.
The agent pushed open the door, and a foul smell rushed out. The room was a mess, with all kinds of trash strewn carelessly on the floor.
No one could probably stand to stay in such a room for even a minute, but Calvert had been here for a full four days.
"Calvert! Calvert, pull yourself together!" The agent stepped forward and pulled Calvert up from the floor.
There was no light at all in Calvert's eyes.
"Calvert, listen to me, Dalton Group has changed hands! Do you understand? Hurry up and get yourself together, go to the company and take a look. The top boss wants to see you, do you hear me?"
"What about Vanya? Has she been found?" Calvert's voice was choked and hoarse, as if he hadn't had a proper drink of water in days.
The agent was silent for a moment, then said, "She's already dead. You need to let it go. I know you're sentimental, but people have to look forward."
"Dead? Who said she's dead?"
"She fell into the sea four days ago, and they haven't even found the body! Isn't that as good as dead?"
The agent said anxiously, "What you need to do now is win over the new boss. Otherwise, all the success you've worked so hard for will be for nothing."
"My boss can only be Vanya." Calvert turned his head away, unwilling to waste more words with the agent.
The agent said angrily, "Why are you so stubborn? Do you know? The chairman of Dalton Group has already sold the Dalton family to M Group. It's been acquired! The person in charge of M Group thinks highly of you and wants to make you the next superstar. Why can't you appreciate this opportunity?"
Calvert was stunned for a moment.
After a while, Calvert looked at the agent and asked, "Who did you say wants to see me?"
"Who else could it be? Of course, it's the current president of M Group, Kendrick!"
Upon hearing this, Calvert seemed to come alive all of a sudden. He said to the agent, "Help me get ready right away. I want to meet him!"
The agent had no idea why Calvert suddenly seemed so energized, but seeing him recover, nothing else mattered!
The agent quickly found a makeup artist and stylist to get Calvert ready.
An hour later, Calvert appeared downstairs at the M Group building.
"Kendrick said he would only see you alone, so just go in by yourself. I'll wait for you outside."
The agent wanted to say a few more words, but Calvert only stared at the top floor of the M Group building and said, "I'll go myself."
Calvert entered the building, and Stuart led the way for him.
Calvert had met Stuart before. Stuart used to appear frequently at Sutton Group Media and was Vanya's personal secretary.
Seeing Stuart, Calvert became more and more convinced of his own suspicions.
When he reached the upper floor, Calvert glanced at the door to the president's office but didn't dare to go in.
What if everything was different from what he had guessed?
"You're already here, so why not come in?" A voice called out from inside the office.
Hearing that familiar voice, Calvert suddenly felt anchored, and the gloom in his eyes was instantly replaced by a bright light.
He pushed open the door and saw Vanya sitting in the office chair, completely unharmed.
For a moment, Calvert even forgot to feel happy. He could only mutter, "Alive... you're still alive!"
"Of course I'm alive." Vanya stood up. "Your partner is standing right in front of you, and you're not dreaming."
Calvert's face was filled with the joy of surviving a disaster. He stepped forward and hugged Vanya, needing to confirm that all of this was real.
Vanya patted him on the back: "I promised to make you a movie king, a superstar, and I won't go back on my word."
Calvert let her go, all his joy turning into a smile.
He knew it—she wasn't someone who would get into trouble so easily, and she would never just disappear like that.
"Why acquire Dalton Group? Why meet me? Why not announce that you're still alive?" He had so many questions in his heart.
Vanya said, "Didn't you already suspect that I was Kendrick from M Group?"
Kendrick was just a fake name she had used back then to hide her identity and keep Cliff from finding out.
Everyone thought the person in charge of M Group was a man named Kendrick. No one knew it was actually her—Vanya.
But Calvert was more perceptive than most. He had already probed her about her connection to M Group before.
So she knew that meeting him as the president of M Group, he would definitely understand.
