Third Person's POV
Veronica frowned deeply. "Cliff, are you threatening Grandma?"
Cliff's voice grew even colder. "You should know, I always keep my word."
"You..."
Cliff turned to the Beta behind him, Elliot, and said, "Mobilize everyone immediately to search for Vanya. Dead or alive, she must be found!"
"Yes, Alpha Cliff."
Veronica's face darkened. "Cliff! Stop right there! Come back!"
But no matter how loudly she shouted, Cliff never looked back.
Veronica's face was ashen. "Rebellious, all of them! That Vanya really is a jinx!"
"Veronica... Just now Clif said Luna Vanya fell into the sea. Could she have..."
"It would be best if she's dead. That way he'll finally give up on her!"
Veronica didn't believe for a second that Cliff would really die for a woman—he couldn't die, and she would never allow it!
The sea rescue team searched for three days and nights, but the ocean was vast. Even after expanding the search area, there was still no trace of Vanya.
Meanwhile, the Dalton family also received news that Vanya had fallen into the sea.
Aldrich was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, while only Mirabel was secretly delighted.
With Vanya dead, the agreement she had signed with her was naturally void. The future of the Dalton family would still belong to her and her son!
She looked at the frantic Aldrich in front of her, a cold glint flashing in her eyes: Aldrich, after how heartless you were to my son and me, don't blame me for being ruthless...
On the third day, Cliff was completely consumed by despair.
No one could survive three days after falling into the sea.
In the president's office of the Todd Group, Beta Elliot walked in.
Cliff immediately asked, "Have you found Vanya?"
Beta Elliot shook his head. "Not yet."
The light in Cliff's eyes instantly went out, his face pale—these past few days, he looked more disheveled than ever before.
Beta Elliot tried to persuade him. "Alpha Cliff, it's been three days already. There's no hope. If the rescue team keeps searching, it's just a waste of manpower and resources. Besides, the M Group has been acting arrogantly lately. We must take action. You need to pull yourself together."
"Who says it's a waste? Who says there's no hope?"
Cliff, eyes red, roared, "Tell them to keep searching! Hire a professional rescue team as well. Vanya must be found! Even if it's just her body, she must be found!"
Beta Elliot was silent for a moment, then nodded. "Yes, Alpha Cliff."
Cliff rubbed his brow, realizing he had indeed been too agitated just now.
He calmed himself and asked, "What about those kidnappers? Have they been caught?"
"They've already fled abroad. Our people can't find them. But they were carrying counterfeit bills, and it's not easy to get rid of so many fake notes..."
"So, in other words, you haven't found out anything?" Cliff's gaze was dangerous.
Beta Elliot lowered his head. "...Yes."
"What are you people doing? You can't even handle something this simple?"
Beta Elliot kept his head down. "...I'm sorry, Alpha Cliff."
"Not just anyone can know my home address and phone number. Investigate the people behind them carefully. Someone must have helped them, otherwise they couldn't have taken Vanya so easily."
"We're already looking into it. There should be results soon."
As soon as Beta Elliot finished speaking, his phone rang.
He answered the call, and a few seconds later, his frown instantly relaxed. "I know!"
After hanging up, he looked at Cliff with delight. "Alpha Cliff, we've found the person those people were in contact with before!"
Cliff slammed his hand on the desk. "Bring that person here! Now!"
"Yes!"
A moment later, Belinda was escorted into the president's office of the Todd Group by a group of people.
She had never seen Cliff before. Looking at the gloomy man in front of her, her face turned pale. "Who... who are you people? Why did you capture me? What do you want!"
Belinda's acting was terrible; panic was obvious in her eyes.
Cliff frowned. "It's her?"
Beta Elliot replied, "Yes, Alpha Cliff, it's her."
Cliff glanced at Belinda, and she immediately began to tremble all over.
"You don't know who I am?"
"I don't know who you are! You brought me here, I'm calling the police! I'm going to call..."
"Fine, give her a phone, let her call the police."
With just one sentence from Cliff, Belinda's bravado instantly vanished. "And while you're at it, tell the police who colluded with the kidnappers to abduct Vanya!"
Hearing this, Belinda completely lost her nerve. She collapsed to the floor, unable to speak.
"Alpha Cliff, when we caught her, she was buying a train ticket to run away. The ticket was to Seattle, so I guess her hometown is in Seattle."
"N-no! My hometown isn't Seattle! It has nothing to do with Seattle! I was just going on a trip, I wasn't running away!" Belinda was so frightened she was shaking all over, stammering out her denial.
Cliff asked coldly, "Why did you kidnap Vanya? Who are you, really?"
He couldn't remember ever meeting this person. With his status, it was impossible for him to have any dealings with someone like her.
Belinda clamped her mouth shut and said nothing. Cliff's expression grew even colder. "If you won't talk, I'll find out anyway. Before I do, you'll be sent to the police station."
Hearing the words "police station," Belinda was flustered, but not particularly afraid.
As long as she didn't confess, once Melinda became Mrs. Todd, she would naturally come to her rescue.
Cliff keenly sensed her odd reaction, and his gaze darkened.
Beta Elliot ordered, "Take her to the police station."
"Wait." Cliff raised his hand to stop him. "No need to send her to the police station."
Belinda, who had thought she might escape this ordeal, felt her heart sink at those words—what did he mean by that?
