Gareth’s Dark Ambitions

Ch. 83 / 99 Feb 16, 2026

Gareth sat in his uncle’s ornate chair, the weight of his recent victory pressing heavily upon him. His fingers drummed a steady rhythm on the armrest, the only outward sign of the storm brewing in his mind.

The assassination had been swift and calculated—a masterstroke. His uncle had trusted him implicitly, a blind faith that Gareth had used to his advantage. The betrayal had been almost too easy, but Gareth’s conscience was untroubled. In his eyes, power demanded sacrifice, and sentiment had no place in the pursuit of dominance.

As he stared at the vacant throne of his fallen uncle, a flicker of satisfaction crossed his face. The seat of power was now his, and with it came the first steps toward realizing his grand vision—a unified pack under his rule, extending far beyond the borders of SilverWare.

The sound of approaching footsteps broke his reverie.

Gareth quickly adjusted his expression to one of somber grief, masking the triumph that simmered beneath the surface. His younger brother, Terry, entered the room with his head bowed, his features marred by sorrow.

“It doesn’t feel real,” Terry said softly, his voice trembling as he approached the throne. “To think Uncle was taken from us like this…”

Gareth rose from the chair, his movements deliberate and measured. He placed a hand on Terry’s shoulder, his grip firm but reassuring. “It’s a tragedy we must bear together,” he said, his tone heavy with false sincerity. “Uncle was a great leader, and his absence will be deeply felt. But we must remain strong for the pack.”

Terry nodded, his trust in Gareth unshaken. “What do we do now?” he asked, his voice laden with uncertainty. “The pack looks to you for guidance, Gareth.”

Gareth forced a sorrowful smile, his eyes meeting Terry’s. “We honor his memory by forging ahead,” he said, the conviction in his voice unwavering. “We cannot falter in these trying times. The pack needs a leader, and I will ensure we thrive, no matter what challenges lie ahead.”

Terry’s expression softened with gratitude. “I’m glad you’re here, Gareth. I don’t know what we’d do without you.”

As Terry turned to leave, Gareth’s expression shifted, the mask slipping as a predatory gleam entered his eyes. He waited until the door closed behind his brother before allowing his smirk to spread. Alone again, he let his thoughts race freely.

His uncle’s death had been just the beginning. It was a necessary step to seize control, but his ambitions didn’t end with SilverWare. Liana and Mira were key to his plans—pawns to be manipulated and controlled. Their father’s influence and Alpha Kaelan’s power were the final pieces of the puzzle. If he could wield both, his dominion would be unstoppable.

He rose from the chair and began pacing the room, his thoughts sharpening into plans. Gareth relished the idea of Liana and Mira returning to his grasp. Liana’s cunning and Mira’s ties to Kaelan made them invaluable assets.

As his footsteps echoed in the hall, Gareth’s lips curled into a cold smile. “You’ve played your parts well so far, dear sisters,” he muttered to himself.

A knock at the door interrupted his musings. Gareth schooled his features into an appropriate mask of grief and called for the visitor to enter. A scout stepped in, bowing deeply. “Alpha Gareth, the pack awaits your address. They seek reassurance.”

Gareth straightened, his voice taking on a tone of solemn authority. “I’ll be there shortly,” he said. “Let them know their leader grieves with them.”

As the scout exited, Gareth adjusted his coat and took a final glance at his uncle’s throne. The power he craved was now within his grasp, and nothing—not Kaelan, not the sisters, not even the moon goddess herself—would stop him.
