A Hard Truth

Ch. 80 / 99 Feb 16, 2026

Kaelan paced the room, his hands running through his hair as Mira stood by the window, her arms crossed. Their conversation was teetering on the edge of an argument. Mira’s expression was firm, unwavering in her stance.

“You can’t keep her here,” Mira said sharply. “She’s done too much harm, Kaelan. And I believe people can change, but you have to give them the chance to do it somewhere else. Let her go.”

Kaelan stopped pacing and turned to face her, his eyes filled with a mix of frustration and resignation. “You don’t understand. Liana may be manipulative, but she’s part of this pack’s politics now. If I just release her, it could destabilize everything. There’s a process—”

“I don’t care about politics!” Mira interrupted, her voice firm. “She’s your sister-in-law in name only, and she’s hurt everyone she’s touched, including you. If you want me to trust you again, to believe you when you say you’ve changed, you need to show it. Let her go.”

Kaelan stared at her, his jaw tightening as he weighed her words. Finally, he sighed and nodded. “Fine. I’ll let her go. But it won’t be easy.”

Mira’s stance softened slightly as she saw the sincerity in his eyes. “Thank you,” she said quietly.

Kaelan approached her, hesitating before placing his hand gently on her shoulder. “I owe you more than just this, Mira. I owe you an apology. For everything. For not believing you, for sending you away, for breaking our bond.”

Mira looked up at him, her expression unreadable. “I’ve already forgiven you, Kaelan. But trust takes time to rebuild.”

He nodded, relief and remorse etched into his features. “Out of curiosity,” Mira began, breaking the momentary silence. “How did you find out the truth about Liana?”

Kaelan’s expression darkened as he spoke. “She lied to me, claimed she was pregnant with my child. At first, I believed her, but things didn’t add up. A few days ago, I found out she had been with Simon—my Beta.”
