Miller’s House.
Sarah felt as if lightning had struck when she saw the news of Rex's murder, she was standing there dumbfounded.
Looking at the time of Rex's murder and recalling the last time she went out with Suzy, she felt a chill run through her body, as if immersed in ice water.
Was Rex killed by Suzy?
Though it was just a guess, this thought was incredibly strong.
She was 99 percent sure that Suzy killed Rex.
With this uneasy feeling, Sarah waited until Suzy came home.
Suzy didn't notice anything unusual about Sarah and greeted her happily, “Mom, why are you sitting here alone? Didn't you go out today?”
With a stern face, Sarah commanded, “Come here.”
The commanding tone surprised Suzy slightly.
After all, from childhood to adulthood, her mother had always treated her with utmost care, never using such a severe tone.
She walked over, sat down on the sofa opposite Sarah, and curiously asked, “Mom, what's the matter? Why so serious?”
Sarah opened the news on her phone and handed it to Suzy.
“Did you kill Rex?”
Suzy glanced at it, her face full of disdain.
“Did he die? Hah... he deserved it. He should have died four years ago! Letting him live three more years was already a mercy.”
Her casual attitude towards life and death sent shivers down Sarah's spine.
“Suzy, how could you become so ruthless?”
Suzy looked at her freshly manicured nails, casually saying, “Wasn't it you who told me, by any means necessary to achieve the goal, one must be ruthless? Throughout history, those who achieved great things were all ruthless, weren't they?”
Upon hearing this, Sarah's face turned pale, devoid of any color.
She looked at Suzy as if she were a stranger.
Suddenly, she regretted teaching her daughter such thoughts from a young age. Causing her daughter to become what she is now.
Seeing her silent, Suzy suddenly giggled, “Mom, don't make that face, it makes me look like a despicable villain. When you killed Samantha’s mother back then, you didn't show an ounce of mercy. How come you've become so saintly now?”
Sarah was rendered speechless by her words.
Yes!
From childhood to adulthood, isn't this how she taught her? Her daughter is just following the lessons she imparted.
Why would she find her terrifying?!
After all, isn't Suzy's behavior today just a reflection of her past?
"I didn't forbid you from dealing with Rex, I just didn't want you to get your hands dirty. We could get caught red-handed if you personally get involved, what will you do if they trace it back to you?" Her voice was filled with resignation.
Suzy smiled smugly. "Don't worry, I've taken care of it! Even if they investigate, they won't find anything on me! I've already found a scapegoat!"
"A scapegoat?"
Suzy smiled mysteriously. "This time, I refuse to believe that Samantha will escape punishment!"
Sarah exclaimed, "You're making Samantha the scapegoat?"
Suzy showed a sinister expression. "Of course! With such a good opportunity, how could I let it slip by? Rest assured, this time, I will ensure that Samantha never sees the light of day again."
Sarah was terrified by her expression, feeling a chilling sensation run down her spine.
She didn't pursue the matter further, changing the subject and asking, "And what about Elliot? How is he doing now?"
Suzy shrugged indifferently. "He's just a bastard child, I can't be bothered with his life or death! Without parents, he'll naturally be sent to an orphanage."
After all, he's only four years old, and he's a dull child who won't cause any trouble.
Her cold-blooded indifference disappointed Sarah.
"Suzy, you're too ruthless! Elliot is your own son, how can you be so heartless, completely disregarding his life and death!"
Upon hearing her words, Suzy suddenly became very agitated. "He's not my son, my son is Alex and Alexander. Mom, don't say such things in the future."
Sarah's heart instantly turned cold. She looked at Suzy quietly, feeling disappointed, got up, and left the living room.
This daughter of hers, so cold-blooded, made her feel estranged.
Estranged, and afraid.
Although she was also ruthless, willing to do anything to achieve her goals, but when it came to her children, she cherished them like treasures, afraid of them getting hurt.
But Suzy was even more ruthless than her.
If Suzy could treat her own son like this, what about her, the mother? Would she be targeted in the future to achieve Suzy's goals? Thinking of this, she shivered suddenly, not daring to think further.
Suzy was oblivious to her emotional changes, once again admiring her manicure, feeling better and better as she looked, her smile becoming even brighter.
...
Samantha brought Charlotte back home with Elliot.
Grandpa Miller saw Charlotte and his face lit up with wrinkles.
"Oh, my little darling is back! Come here to great-grandpa, let me hug you, I miss you so much!"
When she saw Grandpa Miller, Charlotte was first stunned, then excitedly ran over, climbed onto Grandpa Miller's lap, hugged his neck, and kissed him on the face.
"Great grandpa, I miss you! Why are you here? Will you live in our house from now on?"
Grandpa Miller nodded, "Yes! I won't leave, are you welcoming me?"
Charlotte vigorously nodded her little head, "Of course!"
Grandpa Miller couldn't have been happier.
He shifted his gaze to Elliot. "Sammie, is this Alex?"
Why does he look nothing like Charlotte? Weren't they supposed to be fraternal twins?
Only then did Samantha remember that Grandpa Miller hadn't met Alex yet, nor did he know what had happened recently, so she briefly recounted the whole story.
After listening, Grandpa Miller's eyes widened in astonishment.
"Alex was adopted by you? And he's actually twins with Noah? This is too coincidental, isn't it? How come I didn't know that Suzy gave birth to twins?"
Samantha shook her head. "No one knows what happened back then! But Alex and Noah being twins is indeed true!"
"Ah..." Grandpa Miller sighed heavily. "The world is unpredictable!"
Remembering Elliot, he turned his gaze to him. "And who is this little friend?"
Charlotte immediately jumped off him, took Elliot's hand, and said as if presenting a treasure, "This is my classmate, Elliot James. We're the best of friends!"
"Oh! So he's Charlotte's friend!" Grandpa Miller nodded, staring at Elliot. For some reason, the more he looked, the more familiar he felt, as if he had seen him somewhere before.
But he just couldn't remember.
Samantha asked Charlotte and Elliot to accompany Grandpa Miller in the living room while she rolled up her sleeves and went to the kitchen to cook.
At night, Grandpa Miller had one room.
Charlotte, Elliot, and Samantha had another.
Samantha slept on the floor, while Charlotte and Elliot slept on the bed.
After Samantha arranged the sleeping arrangements, she couldn't help but ask Elliot, "Elli, I've known you for so long, I only know you have a father, but I don't know about your mother. Where is your mother?"
Elliot's calm expression showed signs of turbulence after hearing her question. He looked quietly at Samantha, as if lost in thought.
