Chapter 34: Faceoff

Ch. 34 / 100 Mar 06, 2026

Adan

“Alpha, the White Alpha is approaching the gate!” Wyatt yelled up the stairs, stopping at the bottom when he saw me. Evidently, he had been on his way to get me when I walked out.

My head snapped up, and there he was in the flesh. The White Alpha was out of his limo and questioning my guards, who had stopped him at the gate. Good men.

“Prepare the men, but do not attack unless it’s on my order.”

“Aye!” Wyatt hurried away, barking orders to the other men who scrambled to their posts, weapons in hand.

I was curious about this so-called Alpha as I walked purposefully down the stairs and headed toward him. No respectable Alpha, or Don, for that matter, would ever attack without provocation. He, however, seemed dead set on domination, which was also something I couldn’t condone.

“We meet at last.” A broad smile spread across his face as he held his hand out, but I ignored it.

“What is your name and state your business.” I lifted my chin, my eyes never leaving his.

“Well....” He tilted his head to the side, smiling. “I guess we’ll dispense with the formalities then.” He lowered his hand. “I am Darius Snow, Alpha of the Snow Warrior Pack.”

A crease formed between my eyes as I shook my head. “Never heard of it.”

He nodded, the fake smile still plastered across his face. “That’s understandable. We’re new here in town. We came from the north, Alaska to be exact.”

I bit my lower lip and released it. “You’re welcome to stay, as long as you can get along with the rest of the Packs and don’t cause trouble.”

He nodded, looking around my Compound. “May I come in? I’d like to talk business.”

And let the wolf into the henhouse? I think not. “No. What we have to discuss can be said right here.”

Darius’ smile faded as he narrowed his eyes. “So be it.” He raised his chin. “Is there an Alpha Supreme in the area? You’ll forgive me, but I’m new and still have much to learn about how things are done here.”

Yes, you do indeed have much to learn. “We have a Council. All Alphas gather to discuss matters, but there is no Alpha Supreme. If you can keep the peace and abide by our rules, you are welcome to join.”

He shrugged. “Or I could just… take over.”

“You could try.” I let out a deep breath, already tired of this game. “Look. You and your Pack may stay in this area as long as you abide by our rules. Also, we are Mafia Families to the humans so we can co-exist with them. But fair warning. If you cause trouble here, then you will be forced to leave.”

He chuckled. “What was it you said?” He took a step closer, narrowing his eyes. “You could try.” He started to walk away, and one of his guards opened the limo door for him. “Oh! How is your new Queen, by the way. Be sure to tell her I said hello.”

I clenched my fists at my sides. “Leave her out of this.” I stepped closer. “And do not think I didn’t know that you were the one who decimated her Pack. Around here, that is punishable by death, unless you had probable cause.”

He shrugged. “Let’s just say that the Alpha would not bend to my will.”

“Which is?”

He took a step closer. “To form an Alliance with the other supernatural species....” A sinister smile spread across his lips. “And to acknowledge me as the Alpha Supreme, in charge of all Alphas in this area and all Packs.”

I stepped up until we were nose to nose. “If you think for one minute that I’ll bend to your will or anyone else’s, then you have another thing coming. And if you come for me, you’ll lose more than just your Mate.”

Darius snarled as his eyes flared. “Your Queen, Brenna Sutton, isn’t it? Is lucky I didn’t kill her on the spot instead of selling her to the highest bidder.” He shrugged. “Or I could have let all my men have their way with her and sold what was left.”

“If you threaten her in any way or come after her, I will kill you with my bare hands.” I lifted my chin. “Now. Get off my property before I kill you right here and now.”

He nodded as he headed toward his limo. “This isn’t over, Alpha Adan Cole.”

“Oh, yes, it is.” I stepped over to him. “Mark my words, if you come for a fight, you’re going to get one.”

He smirked. “I’m looking forward to it.” He slid into his limo, and his guards got into the two limos. They pulled onto the main road a moment later.

“This isn’t over. Is it?” Mason asked, following close behind me as I headed up the stairs.

“Not by a longshot.” I took a deep breath and stopped at the top of the stairs. “Call a meeting. I must address the Pack.”

“When would you like me to schedule it?”

“Now.” I headed through the main door and up the stairs and then took the elevator to the top floor as an overpowering need to check on Brenna washed over me. As soon as the elevator doors opened, I rushed to her door. No guards were posted outside.

“Brenna!” I pounded on her door, ready to tear it off its hinges if I had to. Instead, I hurried into my condo and flung open the adjoining door. “Brenna!” After quickly sweeping her condo, I realized she wasn’t there.

I barged out of the door and headed down the hallway back to the elevator when Mason’s voice came over the intercom. “All Pack members are to report to the Main Dining Hall Immediately. Repeat. All Pack members are to report to the Main Dining Hall immediately. No exceptions.”

Not wanting to wait for the elevator, I rushed down the stairs. On the bottom floor, I blended with the sea of wolf-shifters. We walked into the main dining hall, and everyone took their seats as I walked purposefully to the stage, scanning the room... and Brenna was nowhere to be seen.
