Brenna
“So, what did you want to discuss?” I asked once we spooned what we wanted onto our plates. I hated that everything with Nikoa may have ruined our evening. But the way Adan was looking at me now, the evening had only just begun.
He took a bite of his beef tenderloin, chewed, and swallowed, obviously taking his time to organize his thoughts. When he took a sip of his champagne, it was pure torture.
“Well, I thought about fighting by your side.” He tilted his head, giving me a sexy look. “You handled the attack like a queen.”
“Thank you.” I took a sip of my wine and waited, knowing there was more.
Adan took my hand and looked at each of my fingers before he raised his eyes to mine. “I’ve thought about it, and I’d love to share power with you to run this Pack. However, I am the Alpha, and the final decision will be mine. But I’d love to have you on my team, making decisions with me for the good of the Pack.” He arched an eyebrow. “Can you live with that?”
A slow smile spread across my face as I gently squeezed his hand. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Every emotion raced across his face from elation to bewilderment and settled on pure joy. Then he stood and knelt before me as my heart hammered out a rhythm as it slammed against my ribcage.
Adan took my hand and looked into my eyes. “Will you make me the happiest man in this world and do me the honor of becoming my wife and Mate?”
Tears filled my eyes, threatening to spill over, knowing I would remember this moment for the rest of my life. “Yes,” I replied, my voice thick with emotion. “I’d be honored.”
Adan took a small blue velvet box from inside his suit coat and opened it, revealing a gorgeous oval diamond in the center of a rose gold rope setting with other diamonds entwined in the band.
“Oh, this is gorgeous!” I beamed, tears swelling in my eyes.
“May I?” One corner of his lips curled into a sexy smile.
I held out my hand, blinking back tears. “Yes, of course!”
He slipped the ring on my finger, where it would stay… forever. I threw my arms around him as I fell to my knees on the floor before him. Adan wrapped his arms around me, slamming his lips to mine as I opened, deepening the kiss. My heart soared as I laced my fingers through his hair, pulling him closer. Soon, our lips parted, leaving us both breathless.
“Are you sure this is what you want?” he asked, holding me close. “Am I who you want?”
I arched an eyebrow, incredulous. “What do you think?” A smile lit my lips as I placed my hands on his cheeks. “I love you, Adan, more than you’ll ever know.”
“I love you, too.” He crushed his lips to mine once more, and soon we were both breathless as passion overtook us both.
“So, when would you like to get married?” I asked when I came up for air.
A smile lit his lips as he looked down at me, cradled in his arms across his lap. “As soon as possible.”
I nodded, my smile fading as I rose to my feet. “Yes, the Blood Moon is coming—”
“No, that’s not the reason.” Adan took my hands when he rose to his feet. “I’m just not sure if I can keep my hands off you much longer.”
I chuckled as I slid my arms around his waist. “So, you still want to wait until we’re married?”
“Don’t tempt me, woman.” Adan smiled against my lips, giving me one last sweet kiss. “I want to do everything right. I want to do right by you, Brenna, no matter what it takes.” He placed his hand on my cheek as I leaned into it, smiling. “From the first moment I saw you, I knew you were the one for me, and I don’t want to do anything to mess that up.”
I laced my fingers through his hair. “You won’t.”
He pulled me gently to his chest, breathing in my scent. “Well, it looks like you have a wedding to plan.”
“You mean, we have a wedding to plan.” I chuckled, shaking my head.
“Anything you plan will be wonderful.” He started swaying back and forth, even though there was no music. I waved my hand toward his stereo, and it popped on, and music began playing softly. He lifted his head from mine, smiling as he looked into my eyes. “Did you do that?”
I nodded. “I learned it from Magenta. Now that I’m a Luna, I have magic. So, she’s teaching me how to use it.”
“And how is it going?”
I shrugged. “It’s going well, but I wish the learning process was faster.”
He laughed. “I’m sure you’re learning fast enough. I’m sure you’ll be able to even give Magenta a run for her money soon.”
I nodded. “I hope so. I can’t wait to be more of an asset to the Pack.”
He kissed my forehead and looked into my eyes. “You already are.” Within a second, he swept me into his arms, curling one arm under my knees and the other around my back as I held onto his neck. Then he gently kicked open the door to my suite and walked straight into my bedroom.
“Have you changed your mind?” A shiver traveled over my body in anticipation.
“No,” he replied, laying me on the bed. Then he slid his hand down my leg to my feet and took off my heels one at a time. Adan sat beside me on the bed, and gently stroked my cheek. “I love you, Brenna, more than life itself.”
I nodded, my eyes becoming misty. “I love you, too, Adan.”
His lips descended upon mine as passion overtook us both. I opened for him, and his tongue swept over mine as I ran my fingers through his hair and down his back. He pulled back a moment later, leaving me breathless.
One corner of his lips curled into a sly smile as he ran his hand over my cheek. “Plan the wedding soon. I won’t be able to wait much longer.”
“I will.”
