Chapter 30: Rescued

Ch. 30 / 100 Mar 06, 2026

Brenna

I bit his lip, drawing blood. He pulled back, but all he did was wipe the blood from his lip.

“Let. Me. Go.”

“No.” He chuckled, enjoying this a bit too much. “Not until you learn how to curb that mouth of yours.”

“You fucking bastard!” I screamed. “So, how’s that for curbing my mouth?”

His smile faded. “As I said before, never call my mother a whore.”

I shrugged. “Why? Is she?”

He crawled across the bed between my legs so fast that it surprised me. Then he looked down at me without touching me. “Watch your mouth before I gag you.”

“You wouldn’t dare!”

He lifted one shoulder. “Try me.” Then his eyes traveled over my body. “You know, you look pretty good like this.”

“Get off me and let me up, you brute!”

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

A broad grin spread across his lips. “That must be our breakfast. Don’t go away! I’ll be right back.” He slid off the bed and headed toward the door.

“Don’t you dare!” I screamed, trying to work one of my ankle straps loose. “Don’t let anyone see me like this!”

“Sorry, but no can do.” He chuckled. “You’ll have to learn that I’m the Alpha... whether you like it or not.”

But when he opened the door, Magenta stood on the other side. She smiled, but it quickly faded when she saw me strapped to the bed.

“Let her go!” she yelled as she stormed into the room. Thank goodness I was fully dressed in jeans and a tank top, or else she would have gotten a show. “Her first time will not be strapped down onto a bed!” She undid one ankle strap and then the other.

“Thank you, Magenta!” I was so relieved to see her that I nearly cried.

“It wasn’t going to be her first time! I was just proving a point.” Adan reached for the ankle strap, but Magenta flicked her wrist, and it flew from his hand.

Then she stepped forward, looking directly into his eyes. “You may be the Alpha of this Pack, but she will be the Luna and the future Queen. You will treat her with the respect she deserves,” she said, keeping her voice calm and steady.

He stared at her for a long moment and then nodded. “Fine! But she doesn’t leave this room!” Then he stormed through the adjoining door and tried to slam it closed, but it fell off its hinges and crashed to the floor with a deafening thud.

“That man....” Magenta waved her arm, and the door rose from the floor, stood upright, and reattached itself back into place, as if it had never been broken. Then she tried to undo the handcuffs but didn’t have a key. “Manicas, tollite vos!” she said as she waved her arms and the handcuffs fell off.

“Thank you so much!” I sat up, rubbing my wrists, trying to regain my composure. “I’m so glad you came when you did—”

“Come,” she said, nodding toward the chair. “Let’s have a chat.”

She waved her hand toward the kitchen, and the utensils began flying around, making coffee. Then she sat at the table in the same chair where Adan had just been.

I nodded and slowly slid off the bed, feeling as if I had just been stretched, and did as she said.

“First, have you eaten anything?” A crease formed between Magenta’s eyes.

I shook my head. “No. Not yet. Adan ordered us something, but then this happened.” I motioned with my head toward the bed as I rubbed my wrists.

Magenta nodded. “Then I’ll take care of that right now.” She headed toward the door and opened it. “Guards, when the serving cart gets here from the kitchen, bring it in this room.”

“But the Alpha said—”

“I said that he ordered it for the Queen, and that is exactly who will get it.” Then she closed the door, ending the discussion. I wish I could have seen their faces.

Magenta headed toward me, and as soon as she sat, a serving tray floated toward us through the air and set itself in the center of the table. Then two cups positioned themselves in front of us as a coffeepot filled them both. The sugar bowl paused before me in the air as the spoon poised itself, as if waiting for me to speak.

“Two, please.” I smiled, shaking my head.

The spoon dipped as if bowing, scooped out two teaspoons, and set itself back on the table beside the coffee cup.

Then the sugar bowl headed toward Magenta and poised itself in midair as her spoon paused. “One, please.” Magenta smiled as she glanced over at me, obviously enjoying my reaction. Once the sugar bowl and spoon were finished, they settled themselves back onto the table in their respective places. She lifted the spoon and lazily stirred her coffee as she glanced over at me, her expression serious. “Now, tell me what happened.”

I looked down at the spoon, afraid to touch it.

Magenta laughed as she waved toward it. “Go ahead. They’re just regular flatware and china.” She shrugged. “It’s just a spell. If you choose to become a Luna, then I’ll teach it to you.”

My head snapped up. “As a Luna, I’ll have magic?”

She nodded, smiling proudly. “Yes, of course! The Moon Goddess will imbue you with magic so you’ll have the skills to better defend the Pack. It’s pretty standard.” A crease formed between her eyes. “Wasn’t there a Luna in your Pack?”

I shook my head, letting out a deep breath. “No. After my mother died, my father never brought in another Luna.”

She nodded, understanding. “Your mother was the Pack Luna.”

I nodded. “She was killed in an attack when I was young, and my father never remarried or took another Mate.”

“I see.” She rose from her seat, a smile lighting her lips. “Well, it appears that you have a lot to learn. But first, you’ll need to eat.” She headed toward the door just as someone knocked. Magenta was truly amazing. I wish I could say the same for the Alpha.
