When he was about to hit him, Broderick grabbed his hand and twisted it making the knife fall off his hand, he winced in pain even as fear lingered heavily in his chest. He didn't expect for Broderick to react that way. Thought he was blind?
Before he could blink, Broderick had sent him knocking to the floor, "don't you know I'm the god of war? I'm so sensitive to danger and that's why it's impossible for my enemy to kill me."
Wilbur cried and spoke," Broderick, it's not intentional, Nolan forced me, my daughter is with him and he said that he will not release my daughter unless I kill you."
"Why didn't you tell me this and let's think of a way out?" Broderick asked, he was standing right before Wilbur's body that was on the floor.
"I'm so sorry, my wife also threatened suicide if I didn't bring my daughter over to where she is, please, I only put my family first," Wilbur pleaded. Although Broderick couldn't see, Wilbur knows that it would take him less effort to kill him if he want to.
"You betrayed me, Wilbur," Broderick sat back. Wilbur was an old friend so the trust he had for him when they were in the university wasn't the same level of trust he has for him now. Time might have made him to change so when he sensed that he wanted to hurt him, he wasn't really dissapointed. He was an ever prepared soldier.
Broderick placed a call across to the head of guards and told him to come inside, once the head of guard appeared, he commanded him to throw Wilbur out. He won't hurt Wilbur but he won't have anything to do with him any ever again.
After the chief of guard had left with Wilbur, Broderick sighed. He would have felt pitiful for Wilbur's daughter if Wilbur had told him about what Nolan told him to do before attempting to kill him. So if he wasn't 'danger sensitive,' he would have been dead by now.
Nolan had crossed boundaries again and again, Broderick was angry and then placed a call across to Nolan, once Nolan answered, he said to him," your end will be worse than that of Martha, this , I assure you?"
Nolan was quiet for a while, he could feel the anger at which Broderick was speaking with, he then smirked. He didn't know that Broderick will recover soon, afterall, he had heard from the doctor he arrested that Broderick's blood was infected and that he needs a new blood to be infused into him. He then spoke after a few seconds ," what can you do?"
"What can I do? Well, I just defeated Wilbur in his attempt to kill me. Are you still doubting what I can do?" Broderick was very angry. If he can meet Nolan right now, he would let him experience what's terrible than hell.
Nolan was shocked. Does that mean Wilbur tried to kill him but he defeated him. If his closest friend can't even kill him? Who can Broderick Alessandro then? Why is this man impossible to defeat? Nolan thought. He was frustrated.
"Take Martha back to that old man at A Island in three days or you will see my wrath," he threatened and hung the call up.
As soon as he was done on call, the door opened and Amy walked in. Amy walked quickly to him and called affectionately," Broderick!"
Broderick looked at the direction of her voice and smiled," what's the time?"
Amy checked her wrist watch and responded, "11:30AM."
He smiled and said," you keep to your word."
"Of course. Hope you are not bored? I can imagine what being alone in the house will look like," she said.
He held her hand into his," I see it as a break period. All this while, I have always engrossed myself in work, at least now, I'm able to spend my time thinking about you." Amy blushed and leaned her head on his shoulder for a while.
"Is there something you need that I can help you with?" Amy asked, before Broderick could respond, she saw a knife on the floor.
She picked up the knife and asked him," what is a knife doing here?"
"Someone tried to kill me."
"Who? One of the guards?" Amy asked.
"The guard who can make an attempt to kill me has not been born. It's Wilbur, my bestfriend but I defended myself and threw him out," Broderick said.
"Oh my! How could he do that to you? I'll warn the guard not to allow anyone in no matter whom the person is," Amy said and Broderick nodded.
"Are you feeling hungry yet?" She asked.
"Not at all, but I'm bored. Can I follow you back to your place of work?" Broderick asked.
"Won't people find out that you are blind?"
"Did my eyes show that I'm blind?" He asked.
"Not at all but you know... I have to hold you so you can walk in the right direction, " Amy said.
"Are you ashamed of me?"
"Huh! Why would I? Let's go then," Amy said.
Broderick then stood and said," you need to help me to change into the right cloth."
Amy walked with him inside and as she changed his cloth for him, she wondered if he was truly blind. Cause how in the world can he defend himself from his bestfriend's attack. Even someone that can see would barely survive an attack from their bestfriend cause they would never see it coming.
After she was done dressing him up, she said," you look good now. Can we go?"
"Sure," Broderick said and they both walked inside her car then she began to drive back to her office.
"Just wondering, why did you want to follow me to my office?"
"Only because I'm bored, did you think there are other reasons?" He asked.
"Not at all," Amy didn't know why she felt nervous, nonetheless, she soon parked her car at the underground garage of her company then she stepped out.
She helped Broderick out of the car and held him lightly in a way that anyone looking would not realize that he was blind.
They eventually took an elevator to her office and on getting there, Joan smiled on seeing Amy but when she saw Broderick, she was shocked.
"Mr. Broderick, you are welcome." Joan greeted politely.
"Thank you, Joan," Broderick recognized her with her voice.
Amy suddenly sighted someone seated at the guests seat that was by a side of Joan's large office, seeing that this was person was Nolan, she frowned but in order to avoid any sort of violence, she pretended not to see him and walked inside her office with Broderick.
She made Broderick sit on the couch that was by a side of her office, "how has work been?" Broderick asked.
Amy smiled as if she was not disturbed about Nolan's presence, she was so angry and wondering what gave Nolan the gut to come to her office, she managed to respond untroubledly, "work has been going well. Though our income reduced at some point but that was my fault, I shouldn't have left Joan alone at any point to manage the company but we are back to our feet now."
"That's great, is there anything I can help you with?"
"Not at all, but If I do need an help, I'll let you know," Amy said.
"Alright, I won't disturb you." Broderick said simply.
Amy immediately texted Joan, asking," what is Nolan doing here?"
Joan replied back immediately," the securities didn't want to let him in at first but after realizing that he is the president of the country, they dared not to stop him from coming in. I told him to leave but he wouldn't listen, he said he owns everywhere in NorthHill now."
While Amy was reading Joan's message, another message of hers came through saying," I find Nolan arrogant now. He wasn't like this those days. I guess it's true that when people gets to power,they change."
Once Amy was done reading Joan's messages, the anger in her increases and she stood," Broderick, I'll be back, please."
"Alright," Broderick said.
Amy then walked out of her office and closed the door so that Broderick would not hear whatever is being said in Joan's office.
Amy walked straight to Nolan and said," what made you think you can just come to my office unannounced?"
"Amy!"
"Don't call my name. Your arrogant this days is disgusting," Amy rebuked.
Nolan looked away for a while, he could tell that Amy was angry, after a few seconds of silence, he turned back to her and said," Amy, I'm not arrogant. If you think I am, then I'm sorry."
"What did you want?"
"Can you please sit?" Nolan gestured to the seat beside him.
Amy didn't want to sound rude so she sat on the seat beside him, he adjusted his seat in such a way that he was now directly sitting opposite Amy.
"I just want you to know that the same measure of love you have for Broderick is the same measure of love I have for you. Whatever Broderick does hurts you directly or indirectly because you love him. Whatever you do hurts me directly or indirectly, Amy, I know I can be annoying sometimes but can you be gentle with me?" Nolan was speaking very gently that Amy didn't know where her anger suddenly vanished to.
She could understand what situation he is, falling in love with someone is too dangerous, it's a worst experience when the person you love didn't even love you back. She had experienced this so she could relate with Nolan's predicament.
"Can you do me a favor of going after the father of my children? Getting rid of him won't make me fall in love with you," Amy said, cause she understood the bad blood between Broderick and Nolan.
"Broderick also has grudges against me. It's not even about you, Broderick's personal assistant is currently a king in my country and has my brother in his custody," Nolan said.
"I guess he did that as a leverage against you, so you wouldn't be able to attack him as you wish," Amy said.
"Perhaps," Nolan said. "Broderick didn't see me when he walked in, how is that possible?"
"He probably didn't look to your side," Amy said.
Nolan shrugged and said," I had originally come here to ask of you to go to take lunch with me but..."
"Broderick is here, it's not fair to leave him and go to lunch with you, I'm sorry," Amy denied politely.
Nolan nodded and brought out a bracelet then asked," can you at least accept this from me? As a gift."
Amy looked at the bracelet and she could tell that it's those expensive ones, "why are you giving me this?" She took her face away from the bracelet and looked at him.
"As a show of my love and actually, I'll also like to see you wear it on your beautiful wrist. Please don't say 'no,' it will really break my heart. You already turned down the offer to eat lunch with me," Nolan pleaded.
Amy looked at the bracelet and then accepted it, he helped her put in it her hand and said," you need to open my heart to see how it is leaping for joy. Thank you so much, Amy for accepting my gift."
"You are welcome."
"I'll take my leave now. I'm sorry for barging into your office unannounced," he said in a polite and reserved manner and after Amy nodded, he walked out.
Amy didn't expect that he would act so gentlemanly, she then stood and walked to Joan's table. "How was it?" Joan asked.
"He gave me a bracelet," Amy showed the bracelet to Joan.
"Wow, it's beautiful," Joan said, adoring the bracelet and wishing that it was hers.
"Thank you, Broderick must be waiting for me inside," she then walked inside and saw that Broderick was still sitting calmly and nobly.
"Hey, Broderick, I'm back," she said as she went to sit.
"You are welcome, did you go and meet someone?" He asked and Amy's heart skipped. Eventhough Broderick couldn't see, he sounded like someone that knows everything about her.
"Erm...yes," she asked with a beating heart.
"Can I know whom this person is?"
"Erm...I don't think it's necessary," she said and hoped that Broderick wouldn't pester her further.
"Is it Nolan?"
