The next day, Tabitha began to investigate Leopold's movements meticulously.
For several days, she did not dare to slack off. Gloria, who had recently suffered a miscarriage, had been recuperating in Leopold's home, not venturing out.
A tight-lipped woman handled the daily tasks of shopping, cooking, and cleaning.
Despite Tabitha's attempts to get close to her, she couldn't extract any information.
As a week passed, it had been half a month since Gloria's miscarriage, and by her nature, she should soon be able to go out.
On the sixth day of tracking Leopold, he called Derek out for drinks.
He rubbed his temple, looking troubled, "Your mate, doesn't she think she's disguising herself well?"
With that, Leopold threw out a stack of photos, all of which were taken while Tabitha was following him.
Tabitha's curious little head appeared adorable in the photos.
"Or do you think I'm so idle that I play house with her every day?" Leopold said, shaking his head.
Previously, he had been worried that Tabitha would realize he had noticed her tracking and had specifically instructed his bodyguards to turn a blind eye to her pursuit.
"Take your woman back yourself. I don't have that much time to play with her," Leopold said with a hint of disdain.
Derek treasured the photos and asked, "Where's the negative?"
Alpha Leopold glanced at him, disgusted, "I'm not perverted to that extent, am I?"
Derek said with a thick face, "Who's asking you? I'll keep the photos of my own wife."
In Derek's eyes, such a cute appearance of Tabitha was a rare sight.
Alpha Leopold shook his head, "You're beyond saving. You two as a couple must have a serious illness—she chases after me, and you chase after her. Can't you play these games at home?"
Derek listened and just looked at him with the eyes of someone who had been there, saying, "You'll understand when you reach my position."
Leopold shook his wine glass, savoring the fine wine, and disdainfully said, "I don't understand, nor do I want to. Women are just that. Give them a candy when they're good and a lesson when they're not."
Everyone has different views on love. Just as Leopold couldn't understand Derek, Derek couldn't agree with Leopold's methods.
Derek said pointedly, "You call that training a dog."
Leopold sneered, "Like you, such a wife-worshipper, you're so obsessed with your mate that you can't even touch her hand, and you have to do it secretly. Frankly, I can't agree with that."
Derek didn't explain much but stared at him with a meaningful look.
"One day, you will regret it," Derek said.
Leopold snorted, downing all the wine in his glass in one breath, and said, "Do you know where I'm different from you? Women are just dispensable playthings to me. Have you ever seen anyone regret a plaything? If you don't like it, just change it. I will never be controlled by a woman."
"I hope you can say that in the same tone three years from now," Derek said meaningfully.
Love is something that, once touched, can easily become an obsession from which one cannot extricate oneself.
The more sober a person is, the deeper they fall in love, and in the end, the more severely they get hurt.
"Alright, where's the person I asked you to help me find? My son is still with him," Derek asked.
Leopold rolled his eyes and said, "How can I investigate when I don't even know what he looks like? But it's not like there's no news at all. The person you mentioned was once a member of Black Wolf Guild, an S-class assassin, codenamed Black Fox."
Derek's face showed a hint of surprise, thinking to himself, "He was from Black Wolf Guild?"
Leopold continued, "To be precise, he is a defector. He defected from Black Wolf Guild two years ago and is now on Black Wolf's wanted list. So he's been on the run from Black Wolf, making it difficult to track his whereabouts for the time being."
As he spoke, Leopold poured another glass of wine and looked at Derek, "If there's any news, I'll let you know right away. But you, do you plan to revolve around a woman for the rest of your life?"
Derek stared at the photo in his hand, his eyes filled with tenderness and indulgence, and said, "Tabitha's situation is special."
Derek stroked the photo, andmost of Tabitha's face was revealed in it.
His eyes were full of affection, thinking in his heart, "I have tasted the pain of losing her too many times, and now I just want to protect her well."
Leopold sneered disdainfully, "Bro, your love is too humble. I can no longer see the familiar you from before."
Derek smiled, then seemed to notice something, pointing at the photo and saying, "This photo..."
"What's wrong with the photo?" Leopold asked.
Derek took out two photos from the stack, his fingers on two people in the background of the photos, and said seriously, "These are the same person!"
