Alpha King of Ruin and Desire

Chapter 57

Ch. 57 / 150 Dec 30, 2025

In the stifling silence of the Chief Consul’s office, Kian, Amelia, and Ronan worked with desperate speed. They had already gathered the most damning evidence: the manifests detailing the grotesque practice of creature creation, the financial records linking the Heralds of the Dawn to the highest levels of the werewolf Council, and the coordinates of the primary operational hub.

Amelia sealed the final scroll detailing the betrayals of the three key werewolf collaborators. “Octavia, Zoran, and Theodora,” she recited, her voice a cold whisper. “A trade of innocence for power, longevity, and purity. They paved the way for Thorne’s access, and the Heralds handled the black market of living assets.”

Kian studied the coordinates Ronan had decrypted—a remote industrial complex on the edge of the Obsidian territory, disguised by Theodora’s ‘Pure Bloodline Foundation.’ “That’s it. That’s the laboratory.”

They couldn't afford a moment more. Zoran’s people would soon realize the depth of the breach. Gathering the crucial documents, they activated the incendiary runes they had placed on the office’s remaining papers. With a silent, controlled whoosh of blue fire, the remaining treasonous archives were reduced to ash.

“We have to get back to Nightshade now,” Kian commanded, his gaze hard. “We tell no one but Gareth and Myra. If the conspiracy reaches this high, trust is a commodity we can no longer afford.”

The sun had just dipped below the Citadel walls when Kian and Amelia returned. Within the hour, they were gathered in the Alpha’s private study—a circular room where decisions of life and death were made. Gareth, the loyal Beta, and his mate, Myra, waited patiently.

Kian laid the scroll case on the heavy oak table. Amelia spoke first, her voice calm but devoid of emotion as she summarized their findings.

“Zoran was not just planning a political coup; he was funding a supernatural terrorist organization called the Heralds of the Dawn. Their goal is not to overthrow the supernatural creatures, but to replace us by creating hybrid creatures from powerful, untethered Witches and Fae. They call it genetic weaponization.”

Gareth’s face darkened with fury. “Creatures? Abominations?”

“And your Alpha’s stepmother was a key funder,” Kian added, watching Gareth’s reaction carefully. “Octavia facilitated the Heralds’ operations in exchange for a promise of manufactured power. Alpha Zoran traded his territorial security for the secret to eternal life, and Theodora provided cover for the laboratory through her purification foundation.”

Myra, who had been listening intently, reached for Gareth’s hand, her expression one of utter dread.

Kian then addressed the most delicate and dangerous discovery.

“The Heralds were actively hunting a highly specific ‘asset’—a Witch with a rare shadow affinity—when the pursuit ended abruptly three months ago.” Kian met Myra’s wide, terrified eyes. “Myra, that was you. You weren’t just running from general human hostility; you were running from this group.”

Myra visibly trembled, gripping Gareth's hand tighter. “The Heralds are obsessed with creating the perfect vessel. They were ruthless. I barely escaped their capture.”

Gareth shot up, fire in his eyes. “They want my mate? They think they can take her from the Nightshade Pack?”

“It is not a matter of if they will try, but when,” Kian stated firmly. “Until we eliminate them, Myra is a walking beacon for their attention, and the Citadel is at immense risk.”

As if on cue, a scout tapped lightly on the door, holding a sealed message. Kian broke the seal, his eyes scanning the contents.

“The intelligence is in,” Kian announced, his gaze returning to the map on the table. “Our spies have confirmed Octavia is now at the primary operational hub, the Obsidian complex. They must be moving their operation to full capacity, or perhaps, they are preparing to move the lab entirely now that Zoran is compromised.”

Kian placed his hand on Gareth’s shoulder, shifting the focus from defense to aggression.

“Gareth, we move tonight. We have the location of the lab where they are creating these monsters, and we have the chance to capture Octavia and break this conspiracy from the root. This is not a war for territory; this is a strike against the heart of a cult.”

Gareth nodded, his rage now channeled into deadly determination. “I will take the frontline. What is the tactical advantage?”

“The Obsidian border is rugged, mostly forested. They won’t expect an organized werewolf strike, only a human counter-force,” Kian replied, pushing aside the furniture to clear the center of the room. “We use our speed and our command of the terrain. We take a small, elite force—only the strongest trackers and fighters. You and I, Beta, leading the charge. Ronan will stay here to secure the Citadel and manage the political fallout once we return with Octavia.”

Kian spread the map out, pointing to a narrow ravine. “We approach from the north. Gareth, your team will neutralize the external guards and secure the ventilation shafts. I will lead the breach team through the main utility tunnel. We need to destroy their research—the genetic material, the compounds, everything—and capture Octavia and any other known conspirators before they can be extracted.”

Gareth leaned over the map, the weight of the mission settling into his posture. “We strike before dawn. No prisoners among the Heralds. Only the collaborators are to be brought back alive to face justice. We will burn this evil from the earth.”

The tension in the room was palpable. The betrayal had been revealed, the target identified, and the battle lines drawn. The Nightshade Alpha and his Beta were preparing for a deadly descent into the dark laboratory of the Heralds of the Dawn.
