Phill's POV
When Mercy and I walked back inside, we couldn't find Jake or Lea in the living space. Lea had dismissed all her staff except for Anna who had insisted on being there till Kai returned. There was a new line up for security and an old housemaid, Lions stayed back. But neither of them had seen the two of them. They were definitely somewhere inside but they were too sensitive at the moment to be left alone .
" Maybe they just went to get some sleep! " Mercy suggested, " I will go check the bedrooms. "
I nodded before heading upstairs. Something told me, I ought to go check on the roof.I took the stairs instead of the elevator. Lea's place was only four storeyed , with a lush green surrounding, a gigantic pool and a couple of rabbits beside the garage door. It was tiny but elegant and screamed of her unique personality all the way.
My intuitions were correct. I could hear Lea's voice coming in rapid succession. " Do you have any idea what it felt like to go into labour all alone? Do you? " I could hear her say. " How would I, Lea? You took that moment away from me as well. Like you took away so many things! " That was Jake. So the two of them were up there together. Fighting? Arguing?
Damn! It wasn't the time. I had to interfere.
" I didn't take anything from you, Jake. I wanted to give you everything. I wanted you to have the world. And you had. I didn't want to be the reason to pull you back... I didn't want us to ruin everything you worked for... We saw a dream back home. I was happy and proud to see you make it to the top! " Lea was sobbing. I hurried my steps. Her sobs wrecked my heart.
" But I was all alone at the top, Lea. We saw that dream together. I wanted to scale that height with you by my side. What use was that fame and money if it meant losing you? Losing my child? " Then there was absolute silence. I became more worried and hurried up the stairs.
But my feet froze as I neared the glazed door that led to the roof. I could see their reflection. Lea was still. Her eyes staring up at the sky. Jake approached her silently from behind and wrapped his arms around her back, pulling her close with a jolt. " Nothing good could have ever happened in my life, if you weren't in it, Lea. I don't know why you never understood that. " He pulled her closer, if that was even possible. She melted in his embrace, shrinking as he placed his chin over her shoulder. " Did you forget why I came to this city? " Lea didn't answer. " I came here because you wanted me to come. I came here because you wanted me to go for that audition. I am here because you wanted me to be, Lea. I never had this dream for myself. It was all yours. I was all yours. " His lips found the back of her neck and pecked her. A subtle innocent peck.
" But I lost you to this city, Jake. I lost everything. And now my child... " She shoved him, slightly, moving away from his grasp. " If anything happens to my baby. " She was on the verge of breaking down again. " He was... He kept me going when I didn't want to go on anymore. Trust me, Jake. If anything happens to my baby I won't be able to survive. I won't! "
Jake pulled her into a kiss. I could see him kissing her with all he had. I should have looked away but I did not. She resisted only a little before kissing him back. I could only wonder what it felt like. She was crying. He was crying. They sobbed and mourned as they kissed.

I forced myself to look away. I felt them behind as I walked down by myself. I didn't know tears were streaming down my own eyes until Mercy and I came face to face. " I couldn't find them anywhere? Should I call them? Damn, Phill! What happened? You are crying! " I quickly wiped away my tears with my sleeve. " They are alright. No need to call. They are on the roof. Let them be. They have been through a lot. I just hope we are able to find the kiddo sooner. This isn't getting any better. "
Mercy snaked her arms around mine and tugged at my arms affectionately. " You are doing great, as well. It must be hard seeing her with Jake. I know how you feel about her. It's not easy , I know. But from where I see, you are doing great, big brother! " I scuffled her head. Mercy had grown up over the past three years. She was no longer the reckless , rebel teenager. She was much more mature and well spoken. And I loved how compassionate she had become. I couldn't dare to think how Lea could have faced this situation all alone if we weren't around. If Mercy didn't coax Jake into flying to Paris and if she hadn't forced them into confronting, I wonder if Lea would ever tell Jake that he was a father. I wondered if she would even tell us that we had another member in the family.
Just as I was having this whirlwind of thoughts while Mercy hugged me and I patted her head, the door bell rang. Instantly looked at the clock. It was past midnight. This could either be very good news, a lead or development or it could only mean bad news. My heart stopped beating as Mercy looked up at me with equal concern. We slowly walked towards the door but before we could answer it, the maid rushed forward.
"Stop right there! " The door of the elevator inside the house opened and Lea walked out with Jake. She ran towards the front door as the maid moved to make way.
