chapter 23

Ch. 23 / 30 Oct 07, 2025

POV Kiara

At home, I tell Thomen everything that happened at my mother's estate. He listens attentively while holding my hands, his touch grounding me as I recount Jacqueline's horrifying plan.

His certainty strengthens my resolve as we face the impossible task ahead. Whatever comes next, I won't face it alone.

I gather the entire pack in our main hall. The time for secrets is over. My warriors deserve to know what they're fighting for and who they're fighting with.

"I need to tell you all something," I begin, my Alpha voice carrying to every corner of the room. "I am a hybrid. Half werewolf, half vampire."

Murmurs ripple through the crowd, but no one looks shocked. They've suspected for weeks as my abilities grew beyond normal werewolf capabilities.

"My vampire mother leads the French clan that's arrived in our territory," I continue. "She plans to eliminate an entire generation of both our species to end the war between us."

The growing concern on their faces shows they understand the magnitude of what we face.

"I need defensive preparations around our borders," I commanded. "Position scouts at every approach. Protect the children and elderly in our safest locations."

My pack accepts their Alpha's revelations with loyalty and understanding. They nod and begin dispersing to carry out my orders.

Not one of them questions following a hybrid into battle.

Back home, Thomen and I discuss battle strategies against the most powerful vampire clan in existence. The odds are overwhelming, and both of us know this could be our final night together.

My thoughts constantly drift to Aleron.

I wonder where he is, whether he's safe, if he's gathering the intelligence we desperately need. The bond between us hums with worry that I can't quite suppress.

"Let's not think about tomorrow tonight," Thomen suggests, seeing my distraction.

We decide to spend a quiet evening together, treasuring what might be our last peaceful moments. Cooking dinner side by side, we laugh and reminisce about better times. Every gesture feels precious and bittersweet.

Our conversation is lighter than it's been in weeks. Both of us deliberately avoid discussing the looming battle, instead sharing memories of when life was simpler.

After dinner, Thomen kissed me.

It wasn’t a soft kiss meant to comfort. It was rough, demanding, and hungry, like he couldn’t wait another second to have me. His mouth pressed hard against mine, and the sound that escaped me was half gasp, half moan.

My body tensed, then melted into him. My fingers gripped at his shirt, desperate, pulling him closer. His hands clamped around my waist, dragging me flush against him until I could feel every line of his body pressed into mine. Heat burned between us.

I kissed him back with equal hunger, meeting his urgency. I didn’t care about control anymore. If this was our last night before war, before death, I didn’t want to hold anything back.

We stumbled toward the bed, lips locked, breath mingling. Thomen didn’t let go of me, not even for a second. He laid me down but didn’t break the kiss, hovering over me, his weight solid and protective.

His hands explored me in long, eager strokes, sliding over my hips, my sides, my shoulders. Each touch made me shiver. Each press of his mouth pulled small sounds from me I couldn’t contain.

I tilted my head, giving him more access when his lips trailed to my neck. He kissed along my skin, slower now, but deeper, until I was moaning under him. His mouth latched onto sensitive spots, sucking hard enough to make my back arch.

I dug my nails into his back, needing him closer. My wolf stirred inside me, purring with satisfaction at the strength of the mate bond.

She wanted this as much as I did. She wanted him. My body opened easily to his touch, eager, needy, aching for him.

And then everything changed.

The instant Thomen pushed inside me, a voice ripped through my mind.

“Oh fuck,” Aleron groaned. His voice was thick, heavy, and raw with pleasure.

I froze. My eyes flew open. My breath stopped.

It was real. His voice was real. His presence was inside me. He wasn’t here in the room, but I felt him all the same. He was with me—inside my mind, inside my body—through the vampire bond.

Thomen moved again, and Aleron’s moan echoed louder in my skull. The sound blended with my own cry, so tangled I couldn’t tell whose voice belonged to who. My body trembled violently under the weight of both bonds.

He feels it all. Every movement. Every wave.

Almost undone, I heard Thomen’s voice through the mate bond, rough and unyielding: “I hear his voice too.”

He didn’t stop. He drove harder, faster, as if determined to claim me against the intrusion.

Aleron’s groan split my thoughts again—“Yes.”

The combination wrecked me. Thomen’s body inside me, Aleron’s voice inside my head—it was too much. It felt like they were both joined to me at once, wolf and vampire colliding through my body.

The pressure shattered me. My climax ripped free, fierce and uncontrollable. I screamed, shaking in Thomen’s arms.

Thomen groaned low and came with me, clutching me against his chest as he lost control. At the same time, Aleron’s voice filled my mind with a cry of release. All three of us unraveled together, bound in one impossible moment.

I collapsed, trembling and breathless, still shaking with aftershocks.

Then Aleron’s voice slid into my head again, lazy and smug: “Sincerely, that was good.”

Thomen chuckled against my neck, voice harsh from exertion. “Only I could satisfy her like that, bastard.”

Silence fell except for our ragged breaths. But Aleron’s presence lingered in my mind, heavy and undeniable. He didn’t fade.

I lay between bonds, heart hammering.

Wolf and vampire. Two mates. Two truths.

And now, all three of us had felt it.
