Trapped by Him

Chapter 374

Ch. 372 / 398 Feb 22, 2026

"Could you please, Mr. Coburn?"

Luana added, as if worried he might refuse.

Seeing how eager she was to leave, Calvert didn't push any further.

He handed the breakfast tray to Luana. "Eat something first, and then I'll take you home."

Luana wasn't very hungry, but hearing that he'd take her home, she immediately took the tray.

After finishing her breakfast, she struggled to change back into her own clothes.

She had worn a business suit to the bidding event yesterday. The loose trousers conveniently hid her swollen legs.

Once she was dressed, Calvert walked back in. She was thinking about how to ask him to help her downstairs when he seemed to read her mind.

He walked over, pulled back the covers, and picked her up in his arms.

Luana was taken aback for a moment, but he calmly said, "If you could walk, you wouldn't need me to take you."

His words shattered Luana's little secret, making her feel a bit embarrassed. She drop her head.

The woman in his arms was incredibly light, her face pale and frail, as if a gust of wind could knock her over.

Seeing her like this, Calvert felt a pang of sympathy.

"Luana," he called softly as he carried her out of the villa.

She looked up at him, waiting quietly for him to speak.

After a brief silence, he lowered his head and said, "I'm sorry I forgot about you. Please don't hold it against me, okay?"

His eyes were clear and sincere, without a hint of insincerity.

Luana looked into his eyes, trying to detect any sign of pretense, but all she saw was genuine remorse.

She frowned slightly and asked, "Did you... really lose your memory?"

Calvert nodded. "I've tried to remember, but every time I try, my head hurts terribly."

Especially when he thought about her, the pain was even worse, as if his brain was blocking any memories related to Luana.

He didn't know why, but every time he saw her, he felt an inexplicable pain in his heart.

He hadn't felt this way when he first lost his memory, but since their reunion, the emotion had grown stronger.

Luana stared at him. She seemed still not believed him.

But his expression seemed genuine.

As she was trying to figure it out, the sound of a car horn blared behind them.

Both Luana and Calvert turned around.

A dozen luxury cars had pulled up behind them.

The lead car was a Koenigsegg.

There were many people in Los Angeles who owned such a car, but only one person had that specific license plate.

When Luana realized who was in the car, she instinctively buried her face in Calvert's chest, thinking he wouldn't see her.

But to her surprise, the person in the car got out.

Gehrmann stepped out first, dressed in a black suit. He opened the passenger door and walked up to them.

"Mr. Coburn, Miss Hammond, what a coincidence to run into you here."

Gehrmann glanced at the villa beside them. A mocking smile appeared in his eyes.

"You two are moving pretty fast. Living together after just a few days?"

His tone was sarcastic, as if he had caught them in some scandal, dripping with ridicule.

"Mr. Gehrmann, you've got it all wrong. Miss Hammond and I don't live together. She's not feeling well, so I brought her home," Calvert explained.

To Gehrmann, it sounded like Calvert was making excuses.

"No wonder Miss Hammond can't even walk. She must be so delicate that she needs a man to carry her," he sneered.

Luana, nestled in Calvert's arms, felt her face flush red and her body tremble.

She didn't dare lift her head, fearing she would lock eyes with the man in the car.

She just stayed there, like a coward, enduring Gehrmann's sarcasm and disdain.

Calvert sensed her fear and gently patted her back.

"Don't be afraid," he whispered in her ear, then turned his cold gaze on Gehrmann.

"Gehrmann, whether Miss Hammond can walk is none of your business. Stop making assumptions."

Hearing this, Gehrmann was so angry he rolled up his sleeves, ready to throw a punch.

But then a cold voice came from inside the Koenigsegg.

"Gehrmann, focus on what's important."

The man's voice was indifferent, as if he was completely detached from everything happening outside.

Hearing his words, Gehrmann restrained himself.

He pointed at the Rolls-Royce parked in the middle of the road and said coldly, "Move the car. Don't block the way for our engagement procession."

Engagement?

To whom?

Luana's body stiffened, but she still couldn't bring herself to look back at the car.
