"Remember to use the scar-removing medicine," Eva said. With her delicate and elegant appearance, she was the epitome of beauty—her face couldn't afford to be marred by scars.
Eva nodded in agreement and left with her medical bag.
As the dean of a private hospital, her schedule was usually quite busy.
Had it not been for Cline, it would have been nearly impossible to get an appointment with her.
Thinking of Cline, Luana felt a lump in her chest.
She couldn't understand his intentions. He was about to get married to his fiancée, yet he kept her locked up at home.
Did he want Runa and yet couldn't bear to let go of her?
If that was the case, Cline was being incredibly greedy.
Luana glanced at the floor-to-ceiling windows. At some point, the sky had darkened and a heavy downpour had begun.
The weather matched her mood perfectly, prompting a deep sigh from her.
As she sat on the bed, hugging her legs and staring into space, two extremely bright headlights shone on the windows.
Soon after, the sound of tires crunching on the ground came from downstairs. A Koenigsegg pulled up to the villa's entrance.
A bodyguard holding an umbrella opened the rear door, and Cline, nearly six feet three inches tall, stepped out of the car.
He casually loosened his tie with one hand and coldly instructed, "Don't let him in."
The bodyguard replied with a "Yes, sir," escorted him into the villa, and then headed towards the large iron gate in the garden.
Luana stood by the windows and followed the bodyguard's gaze, catching sight of a man outside the gate.
The distance and the heavy rain made it impossible to see the man clearly, so she didn't pay much attention.
She turned away and, with great effort, supported herself against the wall and made her way downstairs.
Cline hadn't been home for several days, and she hadn't had the chance to bring up the topic of leaving.
Tonight, he had finally returned. She was determined to seize the opportunity.
When she reached the bottom of the stairs, Cline had just taken off his coat and handed it to a servant.
Seeing her approach, Cline's already gloomy and cold expression darkened further.
Luana, however, didn't notice and hurried forward, "Mr. Moriarty..."
She wanted to talk to him, but he didn't even glance at her. He simply turned around and went straight to the bathroom.
Luana felt rebuffed. Her face fell.
She was puzzled by Cline's behavior.
He kept her at home, yet ignored her and treated her coldly—was he treating her like a doormat?
Luana almost gave up on bringing up the topic of leaving, but she glanced at Ulrich, who was closely following her, and decided to persevere.
Without Cline's permission, Ulrich, the servants, and the bodyguards would keep a close watch on her, and she wouldn't have a chance to escape.
With a determined bite of her lip, she sat down on the living room sofa.
After waiting for over an hour, the bathroom door finally opened. Luana quickly got up and walked over.
"Mr. Moriarty, you said you'd send me back after a few days of rest. I'm feeling much better now. Can I leave?"
Cline still didn't respond to her, just glanced at her coldly and headed upstairs.
Luana felt too intimidated to approach him further. But she couldn't stay in his house forever, could she?
"Mr. Moriarty..."
"Mr. Moriarty..."
She mustered up the courage to follow him. But she didn't expect him to stop suddenly. She couldn't stop in time and bumped into his back.
The impact was so strong that she almost tumbled down the stairs. Fortunately, Cline was quick and grabbed her waist just in time.
They were very close, their eyes locked, reflecting each other's images. The atmosphere was somewhat intimate...
Luana was the first to lower her head, mumbled a quiet "Thank you," steadied herself, and gently pushed him away.
Cline glanced at her coldly and asked, "Did you arrange this with him?"
"What?" Luana looked up at him again. Her eyes were filled with confusion.
Cline looked at the figure outside the window. "He found his way here. Didn't you ask him to come and pick you up?"
Luana followed his gaze to the window but couldn't see clearly, so she took a few steps forward.
From upstairs, she had a clear view of everything outside. With the help of the bright streetlights outside the gate, she finally recognized the man.
"Calvert..." She was taken aback. How had he found his way here?
"Your old lover is here to pick you up. Can't wait to leave, can you?" Cline's words were laced with sarcasm, pulling Luana's attention back to him.
She looked at Cline, who had just taken a shower.
He smelled pleasant, and his hair was still damp, making him seem less stern than usual. But his words were grating.
Luana pursed her lips and didn't respond. She did want to leave.
But if she walked out of this villa now, Cline would definitely think she had colluded with Calvert.
"Why aren't you leaving?" Cline looked down at her, his eyes cold as he stared at her small face.
Luana saw the chill in his eyes. Afraid he would think she was lingering on purpose, she quickly turned around.
But as she took two steps towards the stairs, Calvert grabbed her arm and yanked her into his embrace.
