"Oh, monsters are scared," said Lettie. "That's why they're monsters."
-Neil Gaiman
CORA'S POV:
I didn't sleep, I had been staring at the same star for the past six hours.
It was a star that was so far from all the others, it's colours weren't as bright, in fact...it seemed dim.
It was dim and alone, but aren't we all?
I dressed into a black cloak, I wasn't going to bother with the mask, everyone on board knew exactly who I was.
I secured my hair back tightly into a knot, and slid my saber into my cloak belt.
I took in deep breaths, as I looked in the mirror, my eyes held power, the gold shining through the glass reflection, burning holes into my picture.
I am ready.I am powerful.
I'm ready.I breathed out, rubbing my lips together.
There was a knock on my door, my attention shot towards it, as a Stormtrooper's voice pierced through the metal of the door.
"Lord Drakon. Are you ready? Lord Ren says to meet him in hanger five. I'm supposed to take you there."
"Yes." I said as I left my reflection, I pulled the hood of the cloak over my head. "I'm ready."
KYLO'S POV:
I waited in the hanger, today was a day that everyone would remember...the day that the Sith extinction would happen...they day they all died.
I couldn't have been more pleased.
I saw her from the corner of my eye, a trooper leading her down the stairs to the hanger, where the hundreds of Stormtrooper's stood, awaiting orders.
I couldn't see her face, the hood covered her features, she wore the same black cloak as I did, her back was straight and stiff.
"Are you ready?" I asked slowly. "Yes." She answered immediately. "Let's go."
We took a number of ships, we seated as the ship took off, and made our way to the Outer Rim territories, in the Anthan system.
You couldn't tell anything from her. You couldn't tell what she was feeling, if she was actually feeling anything at all.
Her eyes were brilliant with power, but dull with feeling.
I would give anything to break those walls, and just know.
I knew she was like the moons of the galaxies.
I knew she had a dark side that nothing could penetrate, so dark that not even the stars could see. She had that side that was so dark, and so cold, that not even the brightest Sun's could burn on it.
She was alone.
I would do everything in my power to break that side of her, to see that side of her. I would make it my mission.
CORA's POV:
I felt something small inside of my chest pull at me, as the ship barreled towards Goreum.
I pushed it down, far deep inside of me where I could never find it.
I didn't want to be at the mercy of my emotions, I didn't want to feel them, and if I did...I wanted to dominate them.
My emotions are my greatest weakness. So I sat there, straight, and still, I felt Ren's eyes on me, but when I glanced at him, his stare didn't break.
It was like he was trying to figure me out.
Join the club pal, even I can't figure myself out.I'm like the biggest maze, in every universe.
"We will land in minute. Ready yourselves." The voice of a trooper came on the speakers.
I breathed out, as I took my saber in my hand, I stood and held my hands on a metal bar above me, for steadiness.
The ship came to a sudden halt, and I peered out the hatch Windows, to see the ship that I had spent my entire life on.
It was large enough, but the crew was minimal, it would be an easy "go-through.". But to kill Goreum? That I did not know.
I had guessed he would be expecting me, expecting the vengeance, I wanted to claim.
"We're clear. Go ahead." The voice came again.
Kylo glanced at me once more, before sliding his mask onto his face.
I guessed he put the mask on for intimidation maybe? He was scary enough to others, as I had assumed.
He didn't scare me, and I knew that bugged him. He should know that nothing scares me.
In fact I didn't even know what fear felt like.
The ships back doors opened, and our men marched out, their white suits in sync, each step was the same as the other.
I counted the seconds. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine...
"Let's go." Kylo ordered as he stepped off the ship.
I don't like orders, though I followed anyways.
The front hanger was deserted for the most part, a few guards here-and there, but empty for the most part.
Let's go. Kylo's voice came, as I followed him through the halls.
"Do you know where he is?" He asked through his modified, dark voice. "Yes. Tenth floor, west wing. Fifteenth door on the left."
Alarms began to blare through the halls, alerting everyone on board of intruders.
I sensed presences coming our way, and I took a step to the side from Kylo,as Shadow Troopers came into vision.
There were about fifteen of them, an entire division.
When they saw us, they began to shoot, but our weapons were already drawn, deflecting their shots.
I charged at them, shoving my Saber into one of their hearts...completely by- passing the armor.
His body went stiff, as I quickly pulled my saber out, and flung it towards two more guards.
They were good, well-trained.
But I was the one whom had trained them all, I knew their tricks, I knew their moves.
We had killed them all within minutes.
I wiped some of the metallic blood off my cloak, as we began to run up the stairs two-at-a-time.
We got to the tenth floor, as we began to make our way from the east side, to the west side.
"How are you?" His dark modified voice came. "Don't ask that." I said as I picked up the pace. He muttered something under his breath.
I stopped walking, "What was that?"
"Nothing." He said quickly, as he half-jogged away.
I rolled my eyes, but caught up with him, as we turned onto the west side of the ship.
There were guards waiting for us.
It was division two, they were the second best division, but I suppose they were division one now, considering division one was killed in Basteel.
"Traitor!" I heard one of the Shadow troopers screech as he came charging at me.
Kylo swiped his hand up, and the trooper flung up into the air, his own hands encircling his throat as he began to choke himself.
He was dead in seconds, I guess Kylo got a little tired of waiting for him to run out of air, so he sped up the process by snapping his neck.
I flung my saber like a boomerang, it sliced through the bodies of the men.
Kylo was more of a hands-on killer, he shoved his saber through their stomachs, and spines, waiting for them to die slowly by bleeding out.
The lat man fell to his knees as my saber cut through his neck.
I was more of a get-right-to-it killer.
I felt Goreum's presence as we approached the door to his chamber.
He's in there. I said mentally to Kylo quietly. He nodded to me, his eyes softening.
I cannot kill him for you, and I cannot interfere. You know what to do. You are strong.
With that I opened the door.
He sat in his large chair-like seat. His hands encircled his saber, and a smug look was on his old and weathered face.
"Hello Cora." He said softly. I will destroy him. "Goreum." I spat.
It wasn't like I had always hated him, my legion was assigned to him.
But when you have your mind set on killing someone, you tend to not like them. Especially when they are now on the opposing force.
His beatings, his "lessons"...they were enough for me to hate him. "I've come to destroy you." I said slowly, though he already knew that. "Oh but Cora." He said with a small, slow grin, "You won't..."
And with that I felt myself falling...
My surroundings blacked out, and I felt myself being torn away from my present situation.
A vision of a sort, came across my mind, flooding into my head.
I was a bystander as the vision took over, I saw six-year-old me screaming and crying as men had grabbed me.My black hair was twisted into braids, my eyes we're puffy and red from tears.
There was a woman, who looked a little like me, she was being held back by men, but she had her arms outstretched towards me.She had wrinkled age lines in the corner of her eyes, her dark hair was wild and crazed, her eyes had the same gold as mine did.
"My baby..." She was crying. Was she my mother?
"Please!" I screamed, as I was taken aboard a ship. The next vision was different...
I was older, maybe ten? my hair pulled up into a knot.Goreum stood before me, "Your new mission." He handed me a picture of a woman...the woman from the night I was being taken.
I think she was my mother.Ten year old me nodded, "Yes my Lord."
I watched as ten year old me walked off a ship and into a home.
The woman who I think was my mother stood, cleaning pots in a sink, as I approached her.Saber drawn, I watched as the woman stiffened, drilling the pots, she turned around.
"Cora." She smiled, as she began to walk over to me, to embrace me.I pushed the saber in front of me, the red beam coming as a border between us. Her smile dropped as she took a step back.
"Cora, baby girl, what are you doing?"I took a step towards her, "What I need to do."
Her back was pressed against the back wall of the kitchen, tears flowed down her cheeks as she tried to convince me to stop."Cora, you've been brainwashed, sweetie, nothing they tell you is the truth." My gaze hardened, "He said you'd say that."
"Baby no!" She screamed as my blade cut through her. I killed my mom.The vision cut out as I stumbled back.
I felt something wet sting my eyes.
"What was that?!" I screamed at the smirking Goreum.
"Dear little Cora...those were your memories. That is who you are."
I killed my own mother.
"What did she do? Why did I kill my mother?" My voice came out as only a whisper.
He took a step towards me, "She was keeping you from your fate. She isn't your mother. She was holding you back."
I frowned at him, "Who is she?" I demanded.
"Someone who had taken care of you. She was in the way of your power. She was making you emotionally compromised, she was in the way of you and your true abilities."
I breathed out, I didn't know if it was relief? Because she wasn't my mother? I had no clue.
"Who was my mother? Why did you show me that?" I demanded. "As a reminder." He said plainly, "Of who you are. A killer."
"Who was my mother?!" I screamed, my walls we're crumbling. "You never had one." He said with a smug smile.
He's messing with me. He has to be.Do not let him get to you, Cora. Finish him. I heard Kylo say in my head.
I glanced at him, he was tense, he looked like he wanted to ignore his commands, and murder Goreum.
Boy I wish he could... But I had to do this. KYLO's POV:He had put her in a trance...a vision, probably of her childhood, that was always, everyone's weakness.
I didn't know she had a weakness, but I guess everyone does. I did a double take as I saw tears running down her face.
What.the.fuck.She's crying...Lord Cora Drakon, was crying.
She was screaming at him, after he told her that she didn't have a mother.
Don't let him get to you, Cora. I told her, Finish him.
It was probably true. That she didn't have a mother.
I had suspected it when I had seen her midi-chlorian count. I had thought that she was born from the midi-chlorians.
Now I knew.
She was like Aniken Skywalker, like Darth Vader.
Another tear streamed down her face, her golden eyes we're burning through Goreum.
He took another step towards her shaking little body, an evil smile spread on his fucking creepy face.
"You hold so much power Cora. Stay with me, we can be a team, we can rule th-" His sentence was cut short when her Saber stabbed through him.
I hadn't even seen her move, that's how fast she was.
"We will never be a team." She said, her words piercing through the walls of the dim room. A tear spilled down her cheeks.
When someone brings your past back, it's always emotional.
Someone had put a block in her mind, keeping her from knowing her past, it was terrible when something you thought you knew, never existed.
I watched as the life slowly left his eyes, his body beginning to slump down.
"I am no longer Sith." She said as her eyes connected with mine. "I am first order."
