'A Good day, my Prince', Samuel started, alerting Hector to his presence. 'Concerning, the lady from the other day you asked me to investigate?'
'Yes, any thing on her yet?' Hector asked as he continued writing into a file he was working on on his office.
'Yes!' Samuel replied, dropping an envelop on the table in front of Prince Hector.
'She is the first daughter of Beta Andrew. She has been aware for about five years not w but has just returned', Sam said.
'Away, studying?' Prince Hector asked.
'No one knows for sure but it is said she left following a scandal of some sort', Samuel continued. 'The kind of scandal is not really known just mere speculations but we know what kind of scandal it could possibly be!'
Prince Hector shook his head,not because of Samuel's words but because he just realised something.
'No wonder,her face looks so familiar!' he thought. 'I met her during the birthday party five years ago when her mother had reprimanded her for speaking while she was yet speaking to me!' But why do I feel so connected to her, like...
'Have Omega Brian deliver the invitation to the party my father, is throwing in my honour, to the Palmers', Prince Hector ordered.
'Right away!' Samuel said, walking away, to give the Omega the order.
'I hope she will be there at the party!' he thought. Why do I want her at the party? My life is already complicated as it is. Charlotte Hills, my childhood friend with whom I was supposed to get married is there on the one hand and on the other is Camellia, the mother of my son from that one night of misadventure. I do not know what to do. I am promised to Challotte and I have to do good by Camellia for my son's sake. And now, I am intrigued by Camellia's half sister. Can it get more complicated than this?
Well, he reasoned, it's not as though I am in love with her or anything and neither do I want to have anything to do with her. I am just curious and after my curiosity is satisfied, I shall not care of she exists or not. She is nobody to me! That said, he smiled and stood to go ask his father more about his plans for the party.
'Dad, Hector said as soon as he saw his father. 'I just sent the invitation to the Palmers'.
'That's good to hear', Alpha King Spark Lincoln said. 'There is an important announcement I wish to make at the party?'
'Of course', Hector said, smiling knowing. 'That you are retiring and that I am taking over from you. You have already told me that!'
'That is not the only announcement I shall be making!' he said, smiling shrewdly at his son. 'It is time you got married. You are the only Prince who is yet to get married. In fact, everyone in your age bracket is already married and except I announce your engagement on that day, there will be no announcement of you succeeding me!' he threatened.
'Dad, you are interfering in my private life', Hector Lincoln said, frowning, why was his father threatening him? Blackmailing him into a marital announcement and hence commitment? Was he really ready for that? 'My life is mine and I want to live it the way I see fit. I shall get married, just not yet!'
'I dare to interfer in matters concerning your marriage because it has a lot to do with the Pack's affairs', Alpha King Spark said. 'You know the pack comes first!'
'Camellia understands that I am not ready and she is ready to wait till I am!' he snapped.
'Camellia?' King Spark asked. 'No I was talking about Challotte Hills, the girl you have known since you were a little pup. Her father is a great Alpha and warrior, you need such strong blood by your side. The title of Alpha King is not really enough!'
'And the mother of my son will be thrown to the side?' Hector asked incredulous.
'Of course not', his father said, shaking his head in denial. You will keep her as a breeder. She already has a son for you. She can have other children for you but it does not stop you from making Challotte, your Luna. Her children of course will be the ones ascending the throne, though no pup of yours will be mistreated nor cheated!'
'I do not want to marry Challotte. She is like a little sister to me', Prince Hector said. 'I have no such feelings towards her!'
'Feelings can be cultivated, developed. It is a decision and one you have to make very fast before the celebration because I shall announce her as your intended bride or I shall name someone else as my successor. The choice is yours!'
'This is blackmail!' Hector protested.
'Call it whatever you like. I shall be cruel if I have to, to ensure you tread the right path', his father assured him.
'And you feel Challotte would want to share me with a breeder if we get married?' Hector asked, looking at his father as though he had grown horns.
'That is for you to see to. Convince her and you must do this before the ceremony', King Spark said, winking at his son. 'I know you can do it.' he patted Prince Hector's shoulder and walked away into his room.You will soon be the Alpha King and you want to tell me such an easy task is difficult for you to perform? Convincing a she - wolf of your desire to keep a breeder? Consider it your first task and your reward will be dependent on your success!'
As soon as his father left him, Hector rubbed his jaw with the tip of his thumb and forefinger, thoughtfully. He didn't care for either of this women, well enough to make them his Luna but his father was right, as long as the pack was concerned, his duty comes first. He was going to have to do as he had been mandated. And anyway, of he had to choose, then he would choose the person he had known since his childhood, than some random woman he didn't even know and with whom he had had no more intimacy but that crazy night when the both of them had had more than their share of drinks. He was going to ensure though that his son is given his right because he had grown to care for him so much, though his mother was really not being much of a mother to the poor boy at all. If he had not smelled him and known he was his, and a further confirmation after a paternity test had been carried out and the result being 99.99% match, he would have thought after observing Camellia with Lionel unnoticed, that they both were not the boy's parents.
Lionel! Prince Hector thought fondly. He had given his son that name because he loved that name. He hoped, Challotte would be a better mother to him!
