The Singapore night blazed with emergency lights as Piper's private jet touched down. She'd spent the entire fourteen-hour flight coordinating responses, watching security feeds, and fighting the primal fear that came with threats to her children.

"Compound status," she demanded, striding down the jet's stairs.

"Secure," Gabriel reported, matching her pace. "All intruders neutralized or captured. Jasper and the children remained safe in the panic room throughout the incident."

Their motorcade screamed through empty streets, police escorts clearing the way. Through her tablet, Piper watched live feeds from home.

"How many got in?" she asked Noah, who was analyzing security data from the back seat.

"Six initially. Professional team, well-equipped." His fingers flew across keyboards. "But they weren't ready for our countermeasures."

Alexander, who'd flown ahead, was waiting at the compound gates. "They had inside help. One of the gardeners - recently hired, passed all background checks."

"Not deep enough, apparently," Piper said grimly.

The gates opened to reveal a crime scene. Forensics teams worked methodically while security forces maintained a tight perimeter. Two bodies lay covered on the lawn - intruders who'd fought rather than surrender.

"Mom!" Lily's voice cut through everything. She ran from the house, Jasper following with James in his arms.

Piper caught her daughter, holding tight. "You're safe. You're okay."

"They came through the east garden," Lily reported, surprisingly calm. "But Uncle Jasper got us to the panic room before they reached the house."

"That's my girl." Piper kissed her head, then moved to check on James. Her son slept peacefully, unaware of the danger they'd faced.

Inside, the house showed signs of conflict. Broken glass, bullet holes in walls, scorch marks from security countermeasures.

"Walk me through it," Piper ordered.

Noah pulled up holographic schematics. "They breached here, using the gardener's access codes. The first team of three came through the service entrance while another three tried the upper terrace."

"Our new security grid caught them immediately," Gabriel continued. "Automated responses trapped the first team in the kitchen area. The second team made it as far as the upper hall before tactical units engaged."

"And Mother?"

"Never here." Alexander studied surveillance footage. "It was a fake call, designed to draw you out of London."

"The consortium?"

"Disappeared the moment you left the restaurant. Their offices are empty, accounts frozen."

Piper handed James to his nanny, then moved through the house, cataloging damage and vulnerabilities.

"The captured intruders?" she asked.

"Being questioned." Gabriel's tone suggested the process wasn't gentle. "Early results suggest local criminal elements, hired through intermediaries."

"Connected to the Golden Triangle remnants?"

"Possibly. But this feels different. More... personal."

Piper stopped in the children's wing, where bullet-resistant glass had done its job, spiderwebbed but unbreached.

"Noah, pull everything on recent hires. Every contractor, every service provider, going back six months."

"Already processing. And I'm implementing new AI screening protocols for all future personnel."

"Good. Gabriel, I want security training for all staff. Everyone from housekeepers to gardeners needs to know emergency protocols."

"I'll set up the programs immediately."

Alexander appeared in the doorway. "There's more. The gardener... before he died, he mentioned something about 'true Phoenix rising.'"

Piper's blood ran cold. "Mother's new project?"

"Or something worse."

A gesture brought up more security feeds on nearby screens. Piper watched her home's defenses - impressive but, clearly, not impressive enough.

"Show me the weaknesses," she ordered.

For the next hour, they analyzed every aspect of the compound's security. Noah's tech team proposed upgrades while Gabriel's tactical units demonstrated vulnerability points.

"We need another panic room," Piper decided. "Here, in the children's wing. And a direct tunnel to the secure garage."

"Already designed," Noah said. "Construction can begin tomorrow."

"Staff quarters need better protection too," Gabriel added. "They're potential targets for infiltration."

Piper's phone buzzed - Jasper, coordinating with local authorities. "Police found their staging area. Safe house in the old quarter. More evidence there."

"What kind?"

"Documents. Photos. Including surveillance of all of us - going back months."

She moved to the command center they'd set up in the study. Screens showed the safe house materials - detailed dossiers on her entire family.

"They've been watching us," Alexander said quietly. "Learning patterns, routines."

"Not anymore." Piper activated house-wide communications. "Attention all staff. Effective immediately, we begin enhanced security protocols. All personnel will undergo training. All access points are restricted. All schedules will be randomized."

Through cameras, she watched her household absorb the news. Some looked nervous, others determined.

"This is our home," she continued. "Our fortress. Anyone who threatens it, threatens all of us. We protect our own."

Lily appeared at her side, a small hand slipping into hers. "Can I learn too? The security stuff?"

Piper looked at her daughter - so young, yet already understanding their world's dangers.

"Yes," she decided. "Age-appropriate training for both you and James. Everyone needs to be prepared."

Dawn approached as they finalized the new security measures. Construction teams were already en route for the upgrades. Training schedules were set.

Piper stood on the terrace, watching Singapore wake up. Behind her, Noah's tech teams installed new sensor arrays while Gabriel's forces established enhanced patrol patterns.

Her phone lit up with a message from an unknown number:

"Lesson learned, sister? Walls can be breached. Guards can be turned. Only blood truly protects blood. Mother taught us that, even if you forgot. The true Phoenix rises through fire, not behind barriers."

Another message followed immediately:

"PS - Your London friends send regards. They're very interested in your children's genetic profiles. Shall we discuss terms?"

Piper smiled - not her corporate smile, but the dangerous one. The Phoenix smiled.

"Noah," she called. "Track that signal. Gabriel, prepare assault teams. Alexander... time to show them what Phoenix children can really do."

Through her enhanced senses, Piper felt Project Phoenix stirring in her blood. Power beyond normal limits, waiting to be unleashed.

Time to remind everyone why you don't cage a Phoenix.
