Seductive Trinity of Mates

Chapter 25

Ch. 25 / 30 Jul 24, 2025

The gates of Silver Moon exploded outward before we could announce ourselves.

“You brought them here.” Lilith’s voice cut through the crystalline air like a blade through silk. She stood at the top of the marble steps, her silver hair flowing around her shoulders, power radiating from every line of her body. “To my territory. My home.”

“Our home,” I corrected, dismounting as armed guards poured into the courtyard around us.

“Is it?” Her storm-colored eyes fixed on Nyx, then Astrid, cataloguing every detail with clinical precision. “Because it looks to me like you’re parading your conquests through my gates.”

“Conquests?” Astrid’s voice cracked like a whip as she stepped forward, her hand moving to her sword hilt. “Did this moonlight princess just call me a conquest?”

“I called you what you are.” Lilith descended the steps with fluid grace, but there was steel beneath the silk. “Another woman claiming a piece of something that was mine first.”

“Was yours?” Nyx spoke for the first time since we’d arrived, her voice carrying that smoky authority that made everyone listen. “How exactly does one own a person? I must have missed that lesson in royal etiquette.”

The courtyard fell deadly silent. Guards shifted nervously, hands hovering near weapons. This wasn’t going according to anyone’s plan.

“You don’t know anything about what we’ve built here,” Lilith said, her voice rising with each word.

“I know you’ve been playing house while the rest of us have been fighting wars.” Astrid stepped closer, and I saw several guards reach for their swords. “I know you think crystals and moonbeams will protect you when the Alliance comes calling.”

“The Alliance?” Lilith’s face went pale. “What Alliance?”

“The one mobilizing against us while you’ve been hosting tea parties.” Nyx moved to flank Astrid, and suddenly the three most powerful women in the territories were facing off in a circle of tension that could explode at any moment.

“Enough.” I stepped between them, and all three turned on me with blazing eyes. “We don’t have time for this.”

“Don’t we?” Lilith’s voice carried hurt wrapped in fury. “Because it seems to me like you’ve had plenty of time to bond with them while leaving me to wonder if you were ever coming back.”

“I came back.”

“With them. After promising you’d return alone.” Her hands began to glow with that familiar silver light. “After swearing that nothing would change between us.”

“Everything has changed!” The words exploded from me with enough force to make the guards step back. “The prophecy is complete, Lilith. All three bonds are formed. We can’t go back to what was.”

“Can’t? Or won’t?”

Before I could answer, the sound of marching feet echoed from the palace entrance. The High Council emerged in their ceremonial robes, their faces grim with disapproval.

“Prince Kieran,” Elder Thornwick’s voice carried across the courtyard like a funeral bell. “You will explain this… irregularity.”

“Irregularity?” Astrid laughed, but there was no humor in it. “Is that what you’re calling the fulfillment of ancient prophecy?”

“We’re calling it a violation of sacred law,” another Elder snapped. “One mate bond is holy. Three is an abomination.”

“Careful,” Nyx said quietly, but her voice carried enough threat to make the Elder step back. “You’re speaking about queens. Show proper respect.”

“Queens?” Elder Thornwick’s face flushed with outrage. “You are not queens! You are pretenders to a throne that doesn’t exist!”

“Yet.” I stepped forward, letting them see the gold that burned in my eyes. “But it will.”

“The Council will never—”

“The Council will do what’s necessary to survive what’s coming.” I gestured to my three mates, who had unconsciously moved to flank me. “Because the alternative is watching everything you’ve built burn while you argue about tradition.”

“And what exactly is coming?” Lilith demanded.

“War.” Nyx’s voice was flat, final. “Six territories have allied against us. They move to attack in two days.”

The courtyard erupted in chaos. Guards shouted questions, Elders argued among themselves, and through it all, my three mates stared at each other with new understanding.

“Two days,” Lilith breathed.

“To prepare a defense none of us could mount alone,” Astrid added.

“Or to die separately because we couldn’t swallow our pride,” Nyx finished.

Elder Thornwick raised his voice above the chaos. “Even if this Alliance exists, that doesn’t legitimize this… arrangement. The sacred bonds—”

“The sacred bonds are what’s going to save us!” Lilith’s voice carried across the courtyard with enough power to silence the crowd. “The prophecy speaks of three queens ruling together, combining their strengths to protect all territories.”

“Prophecy is not law—”

“It is now.” I stepped onto the palace steps, and my three mates moved with me like we’d planned it. “By royal decree, effective immediately, the Triple Bond is recognized as legitimate. Any who challenge it challenge the crown itself.”

“You cannot simply declare—”

“Watch me.” I turned to face the assembled crowd, letting my voice carry to every corner of the courtyard. “The Alliance comes for us in two days. They come because they fear what we represent—unity instead of division, strength instead of isolation. We can face them as scattered territories and fall separately, or we can stand together and show them what real power looks like.”

“And if we stand together and still lose?” Elder Thornwick demanded.

“Then we lose fighting for something greater than ourselves.” Lilith stepped forward, her silver light blazing brighter. “But we won’t lose.”

“How can you be so certain?”

“Because,” Astrid said, her hand finding mine, “we’re not fighting alone anymore.”

“Because,” Nyx added, taking my other hand, “the prophecy isn’t just about three queens. It’s about what they can accomplish together.”

“And because,” I said, feeling the power of all three bonds surge through me like lightning, “some things are worth fighting for.”

The crowd stared at us—four people who’d found each other through prophecy and desperation and something that might have been fate.

“Two days,” Elder Thornwick said finally. “You have two days to prove this alliance can work.”

“We’ll need one,” Lilith said with quiet confidence.

“The Alliance won’t know what hit them,” Astrid added with savage grin.

“No,” Nyx said, her storm-gray eyes blazing with certainty. “They won’t.”
