At this point, Daniella could not hold it. She raised her hand to slap Anabel, and Desmond caught her wrist in the air. "How dare you try to raise your filthy hands on her? Desmond growled at her and yanked her hand away.
"You are lucky your hand didn't touch me. You would have regretted ever crossing my path today. You want to touch those dirty hands you used in stroking different dicks. Count yourself lucky." Anabel said.
"Sweetheart, let's go. It's okay." Desmond urged her and pulled her a little. She pushed Daniella aside and walked past.
"Both of you will pay for this." They heard Daniella say at their back, but they didn't mind talking to her again. Daniella was deeply hurt. She regrets ever approaching them. She would have gone her way and avoided them. Now she was the one bleeding.
Desmond and Daniella went straight to their car. She hugged and kissed him before entering her car.
"Text me when you get home." Desmond said outside her window, and she replied, "Text you? No. I'm going to call you instead."
She smiled at him and signaled her driver to kick off. Desmond waved her goodbye and climbed into his car, still lost in the memory of their lively evening. Her laughter across the table, the warmth in her eyes when she said she missed him. The way she kissed him and the way she made him feel in bed. He couldn't stop smiling. He hasn't been this happy for a long time.
Having Anabel back becomes his greatest achievement of the season. He started his car and drove off. By the time he reached home, that same glow hadn’t left him.
His mother and younger sister were seated in the living room, chatting over tea and flipping through a magazine. The moment Desmond walked in, both women looked up and saw what they hadn't seen for a while.
"Hi, Mom, Hi, sister." He greeted. "How are you guys doing?
His mother narrowed her eyes, then sat upright, surprised. “Wait… is that smiling on your face?” she asked, pointing at him dramatically. “This face has been stormy for months!”
His sister laughed. “Wow… Desmond, did someone tickle your soul? Did you get a huge contract?”
He chuckled, dropping his keys on the table. “Actually,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck, “Anabel and I… we’re back together.”
The room went still for a second. Then came the explosion.
“What?” His sister squealed, springing to her feet. His mother gasped. “Are you serious?”
Desmond nodded, and the happiness in his eyes was proving everything. “She invited me to dinner tonight in a hotel. We talked. We forgave. We remembered how much we mean to each other and how we missed each other.”
His mother walked up and placed her hands on his shoulders, her eyes misty. “My son… I knew it wasn’t over. I knew you two would surely come back together.”
“I’m really happy for you,” his sister added, smiling warmly. “You look… peaceful. Like something finally clicked back into place.”
Desmond nodded, sinking into the couch. “We’ve both been through a lot. But tonight? It felt right again.”
His mother beamed. “So, when are we going to see her parents again? You two need to seal this before any lizard from the past or anywhere sneaks in again.”
Desmond laughed and replied. “Very soon.”
“Very soon is not a date,” she said quickly. “I want that girl back in this house in a few days. I want to see you guys in this house together.”
"Alright, Mom, I've heard you."
"Go and take your bath and rest. I'm sure you are not eating anything tonight."
"Why will you say that? We only had a drink, though."
"Are you sure you only had a drink with her?" His mom asked, smiling at him. "Because I can see you ate something special that you forgot to zip up." His mom said, and he looked down and saw that his fly was open. He didn't zip up. "I knew those smiles and satisfaction were not ordinary. More reason you need to bring her here soon so you won't miss it again. Besides, she also needed it for her delivery."
