My Alpha's Mark

52 I’m fine

Ch. 52 / 206 Jan 27, 2026

Kacie

My whole body screams no, no, no and all I want to do is shove him away. I want to bite, kick, fight him. I want to do everything I can to put space between us and get away from him but I don’t let my face show what I’m feeling.

Instead, I stay still and try my best to give him a seductive look. I’ve never practiced looking seductive or even know how to try and attempt ‘fuck me’ eyes. I doubt I’m doing it right but he must find whatever I’m doing appealing because his hand grips my neck and he forces my lips to his.

The door opens and for a moment it stays open. I don’t know whether I hope she stays or goes but before I can make up my mind the door closes and she’s gone.

Ken doesn’t even bat an eye, he kisses along my cheek and down my chin. I take deep slow breaths to try and calm my heart and stop myself from throwing up.

I got this.

I’m okay.

I’m fine.

I’ll be fine.

I’ll get through this.

Patience.

Breathe in.

Be patient.

Breathe out.

Just wait.

Breathe in.

Just be patient.

The words become my mantra and I repeat them over and over again as I will myself to watch Ken above me. I wait for a sign, an opening, anything that’ll give me a chance.

I swallow.

His hands slide down my chest and wander south touching, groping, feeling every curve of my body. Fear threatens to take hold of me and tears threatened to spring to my eyes.

I’m not seeing an opening or a sign that screams ‘this is it!’ and I can feel the fear starting to take over.

A knock at the door doesn’t deter him from kissing and touching me but a second knock has a growl rumbling low in his throat. Hope wells in my chest and I pray it’s someone with news that’ll take him from here just like the last time. I doubt I’ll be lucky a second time but I pray nonetheless.

Please, please, please.

“I’ve waited long enough,” Clara says on the other side of the door.

Ken leans down and kisses my collar bone. A shiver runs down my spine, his eyes darken as he mistakes it for… excitement or lust. I don’t know what he mistakes it for but I know that he couldn’t be farther from the truth.

“Where is she?” She asks and I can feel her palpable anger through the door. I don’t know if she’s trying to help me but I’m thankful she’s choosing this moment to make demands.

“Now is not the time,” he growls stopping his movements.

“Now is a perfect time,” she hisses. “I’ve been waiting here with her, I’ve been here since she was brought here. I’ve done my part and you know that as well. I’ve kept my word, now you keep yours.”

“Fucking women,” Ken breathes but says nothing. A look flashed in his eyes and I have the sinking feeling he’s keeping something from her. I think there’s more behind his refusal to tell her about her sister than what he’s letting on.

I gulp.

“WHERE IS SHE?!” She yells from the other side of the door. From what I’ve seen of Clara, that door only gave the illusion of separating Ken from her.

“I don’t have time for this, witch,” he growls but I think at this point we both know Clara’s close to losing her shit.

An eery silence fills the room and I lay still with bated breath. His hands roam dangerously low and his lips crash against mine. The world moves in slow motion and I’m forced to think of all the worse possible case scenarios.

I could go at him and my fist could bounce right off of him. I could push him away and he might not budge. I could actually hurt him and not make it out. That would be bad. Really really bad.

I’ll go for it. Now’s as good a time as any. Ken has started kissing a trail down my body his fingers fumble with my shorts.

Goddess.

Before I slam my elbow down into his head when a loud crash breaks the silence. His fingers stop their fumbling and he turns to look at the door. Where there was a door stands a very pissed off Clara, no she’s not standing, she’s floating.

Ken scrambles to get to his feet.

“What do you think you’re doing?!” He yells.

I don’t miss the way he hesitated when he got to his feet. I saw the way his eyes widened a fraction of an inch as he stared at her. Clara wasn’t even focused on me and I was scared.

He was scared and had every right to be. All he had to do was tell her where her sister was and he would be fine. Since he wasn’t spilling the beans, something was up, and Clara knew something was up.

“You will tell me where my sister is,” Clara demanded. Her voice reminds me of the calm before the storm. When everything is still and quiet. She was too quiet for someone so angry.

Ken straightens his back, bringing himself to his full height, and glares at her. He’s trying to intimidate her but failing to do so.

“I don’t have to do a damn thing,” he says, “and if I were you, I’d watch what who I order around.” I sit up and as a chill fills the room I wrap my arms around myself.

“What I want to know is why,” she says as she glides closer, “you keep avoiding my question.” Her earrings are glowing brightly and as she cocks her head to the side a shiver runs down my spine.

“You’re going to tell me where she is, mutt,” she says quietly, “or-,”

“You can’t kill me,” he says cutting her off and failing to hide his stutter. “If you kill me, you’ll never know where she is.”

Clara sighs.

“I should have tortured you from the beginning,” she tells him. “Maybe then, I would have had Harper back sooner,” she says more to herself.
