“I’m leaving for San Diego early in the morning for a fashion festival, so I won’t be here for you. The nurses will take good care of you and they will provide everything you may need , so feel free to talk to them about anything you may need. By evening, when I come back, if you’re feeling better, my personal driver will take you home as you requested.”
He smiled for the first time, and I tried not to trip.
Why is he suddenly being nice to me?
Oh, right—I forget, a chronic womanizer.
A playboy.
Well, he is good, I will give him that, I almost fell for his tricks.
Back in the office, he acts completely different. Like a demon possessed warlord.
“You’re a good actor. Let me guess: Mr. Nice Guy role?”
“Yes, as a matter of fact. Otherwise, why would I be speaking so nicely to you, sweetie?”
He walked toward me. My heart raced. I leaned backward, unsure of his next move.
He casually pulled his left hand from his pocket and lifted my chin, staring intently into my eyes, then at my pouty lips in a way that made me bite them nervously. I let him stare all he wanted—it wasn’t intentional, but his gaze froze every pulse in my body.
He smirked, still staring at my lips, then slowly shifted his gaze back to meet mine.
“If I were an actor, I’d be the vampire who’s always thirsty for your blood.”
He licked his lips in a way that made goosebumps rise all over my skin.
I opened my mouth, trying to be brave. His seductiveness and honey-trapping wouldn’t work on me.
“Well, I’d love to play a vampire hunter role, so I could kill you and free the world from arrogant monsters like you.”
His lips parted into a broad smile, his dimples flashing.
“It would feel much better to be killed by you than by a bullet.”
He leaned closer, his hands pressed hard against the bed, trapping me between him and the mattress. He stared at my lips, making me nervous and uncomfortable. Confused, I leaned back awkwardly, hurting my neck, but he kept pushing closer. What the hell was he trying to do—harass me?
Suddenly, I felt too weak to stop him. My heart skipped violently against my chest, and heat flooded between my thighs.
Just then, a nurse knocked and walked in, her eyes fixed on her record book. When she looked up and saw us in that position, she jerked and quickly turned toward the door.
“Sorry for the interruption, sir.”
I sighed briefly as he straightened up and let me go.
“Don’t you think you’re overreacting? You had something on your lips, that’s all. I’ll be back for you later,” he said before leaving the room.
As soon as the door slammed, I fell back on the bed, closing my eyes tightly.
“Why the hell did I let him? Why didn’t I fight back? Am I really getting charmed by that spoiled brat? I hate this type of behavior in a man, and that’s how it should be.”
It was odd that I felt lonely after he left, even though it was just for a few minutes. I had to stop myself from weakening and remind myself of the dangers of letting him get under my skin.
He’s a flirt, a playboy, a proud pervert, with crazy fan girls who’d do anything to have him. A man like him, who abuses people, is nothing like someone I’d ever picture myself with.
I groaned loudly as the memory of the attack crossed my mind again.
Then I felt a sense of relief as the nurse returned, distracting me from the memory with cheerful small talk.
PRINCE’S POV
“So, what do you want me to do?” I turned to my younger sister, Zoey, who was nine years old.
She took after our father in looks.
I somehow don’t like it when she visits me—she’s a very annoying little rat.
She stared at me for a moment, then got up from her seat and walked toward me like a queen in her queendom.
“All you have to do is say sorry. Why are you afraid of saying sorry? It’s simple. S…o…r…r…y,” she literally spelled out the word.
I knew I shouldn’t have opened up to her about how I feel.
“Why must I say sorry? Can’t I just say something like, ‘Um, yeah, so… um, go back to work?’” I replied, then turned to her for a response.
She opened her mouth, shook her head. “That sounds so lame. So you’re literally going to tell someone who warned you about danger, then proceeded to save your life because of your ignorance… ‘Yeah, um, so go back to work?’” She mimicked my deep voice, then slapped her forehead in disappointment.
“Wow! Prince, wow!”
I folded my long frame on the couch and crossed my legs, fighting within myself. I glanced at her coldly for a while.
“Well, what do you expect me to do? I can’t possibly apologize to my employee. I’d feel so… so low if I said that. It goes against everything I stand for.”
