Calla POV:
"I need to talk to her, Sinister." I said quietly.
We had been sitting in his room for a few hours, he held me tightly in his arms, and I traced the bite marks I had left when I fought him.
Calla the shark.
Rawr.
"How do you know her again?" He asked softly, as he gave me a tight squeeze.
He was about to kill her, but he didn't. He said he had to kill her, but he didn't because I begged him not to.
Maybe he wasn't just a monster. Maybe, there was light to his darkness. Some sort of weird reverse-flashlight shit.
"She was there the night you took me, it was my birthday and we went to this club..." I shook my head, I hated thinking about that night, "she's all I have, Sin."
Brie had always been the crazy one in our friendship, but she was my first friend when I had moved from Russia. We had met at the library downtown, she was studying next to me and I thought that she had dropped this book. So, naturally, I picked it up for her. It turns out it was the bible. When I set it down in front of her she stared at me like I had just asked her for a female condom. She told me that she'd burn if she touched a bible. We've been friends ever since.
She may have not always been the best friend, or the best influence, but she was honestly all that I really had.
"I know you need to talk to her, but I think you should also know why I felt the need to kill her."
I nodded, "I was there. I heard everything."
"Calla, her boyfriend is the leader of the Italian Mafia, our biggest threat. I don't know why I'm even letting her fucking live."
I shook my head, "I didn't even know she had a boyfriend. That night at the club I thought she had gone home with some random guy, I guess that must have been her boyfriend."
Sinister pressed a soft kiss to my head, and I felt a pull at my heart.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a fucking second. No way am I feeling anything for this soulless murderous bastard. He's my kidnapper, this can't be some idiotic Stockholm Syndrome shit. This man has held me at gunpoint multiple times, his little 'nickname' for me is the Russian terminology of bitch.
Yet, here I was, in the arms of Satan himself, with not a care in the fucking world.
I disgust myself.
"Calla, you need to understand that keeping her alive, means that she has to stay here. She will never be able to leave. She is now a prisoner of the Russian Mafia."
I cocked my head to the side "Won't the Italians come looking for her?"
He shook his head slightly, "they'll never know where to look, and besides, this compound is more heavily guarded than the Kremlin."
Heh...Russia.
"I have to talk to her."
He nodded in agreement as he lifted himself off the bed.
"Calla, I want you to know something..." He said softly. His iced eyes looking softly into mine.
He took in a breath, "everything I do, is for a reason. I am sorry you have to see he worst of me, but that is who I am, and how I have to be. I care about you, more than you will ever know."
Did Sinister Velkov actually just confess feelings for me?
My cheeks went hot at his affectionate comment.
I raised my arm to give him a friendly pat on the back, when I realized that would be kinda weird.
instead, I settled for wrapping my arms around him in embrace, relishing in the way his strong lean arms held me.
He led me down the stairs and outside a locked room. Two familiar looking guards stood outside the room, they nodded to Sinister as he waved them to open the door.
"It'll be just you two in there, no cameras or mics. I want to discuss her...terms of stay when you're done talking to her, so just knock when you're done, I'll be on the other side."
I nodded as I slipped into the room.
I was immediately attacked.
"CALLA!" She screamed as she hugged me, I held her tight to me.
"Hi Brie." I said softly, her arms crushing me.
She pulled back and raised a blonde eyebrow to me, "Calla, how are you here? What happened?"
I pursed my lips as I sat on the floor of the dimly lit room, she followed, sitting close to me, her big green eyes red and swollen. I winced at her busted lip, cut throat, and bruised face. She still held my hand, squeezing me tightly.
"After you left the club, I realized I wasn't having too much fun...Stacy had left too, and Amanda refused to drive me home. I thought I could find a cab or something when...a car pulled up." I sniffed, "they thought I was a prostitute or something and sold me into the auctions where Sinister Velkov bought me."
Her eyebrows furrowed together, "you're the Russian Mob bosses prostitute?"
I shook my head,"it's not like that...Sin, he's different."
A tear fell down her cheek, "Calla I'm sorry I left you. Antonio called me, had a car get me out front. He needed me for something."
I shook my head, "why didn't you ever tell me you were dating somebody? Let alone the Italian Mafia boss?"
She shook her head, "I'm sworn into secrecy." She pushed her shirt to the side and on her collarbone, an Italian Mafia symbol was inked.
I held up my wrist tattoo.
She shook her head and threw her arms around me, "oh calla...how did you get sinister to not kill me?"
"I convinced him to let you stay here, instead of decapitating you and sending your head to your boyfriend."
She shook her head, "that would have fuckin sucked. I have to stay here?"
I nodded softly, hating the tears that sprung into her eyes.
She took in a calculated breath, "Calla, Antonio will find me. He'll hurt your friends, he'll..." she shook her head "fuck. I don't even know what he'll do. He's a dangerous man."
"My friends? Brie, I was kidnapped, and also, this is the Russian Mafia, there's no way in hell that your little boyfriend is going to get you out of here. You're a prisoner, fucking property of the mafia, just like me."
She didn't say anything. There wasn't anything to say. We couldn't do anything about the situation we were in.
We were silent for awhile. Thinking to ourselves about the fucked up life we were both living.
I didn't know what Sinister planned on doing with her, but for now she was safe.
Minutes later, she broke the silence. "So, your the mob bosses whore?"
I winced, "no, not exactly. He bought be to 'bring stability to his organization' or whatever the fuck that means. And I'm not a whore Brie. I'm not Sinisters personal bitch, or whatever."
"He doesn't force himself on you?"
"If anything, I force myself on him."
The bottoms of her lips pulled up slightly, "How?"
I shrugged, "I get drunk pretty often. Oh, and high."
"They let you have that kind of freedom?"
I shook my head, "Nah. There's this guy named Afanas. He's a dick. You'd love him."
She didn't say anything for a while, I felt like such a shitty friend for not knowing all the shit that was going on in her life. I knew she was secretive, but that was just who Brie was.
She wasn't a personal kind of person, she kept to herself, yet was totally open. She would party hard, give advice, listen to our shit, but she'd never really speak herself.
I suppose she really couldn't, having this whole other life in the Italian Mafia, knowing and seeing all this shit, but never being able to tell anyone.
"How'd you meet him? Antonio?" I asked.
she rubbed the bruises on her wrist, a small smile playing on her lips, "He saved me, actually. I was drunk, got kicked out of my parents place, and was walking the streets of New York City in the middle of the night" she nodded when she noticed my stunned face "stupid, I know. This group of guys were hitting on me, being super gross. I tried minding my own business, but when one of them called me a 'stupid cunt' I had no other choice than to call him a gay ass licker."
I suppressed a smile as she continued
"Next thing I know, they're grabbing me and...fuck, Calla, the shit they talked about doing to me was...awful. One second I'm being dragged off the streets and the next...." she shrugged "nothing. Antonio shot all of them. That lil fucker killed them all, saved me, and in return for not killing me, I had to swear to secrecy."
She tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear, her face flushed with the memory.
Wiping away a smear of mascarra she grinned at me, "enough about me. So...Sinister Velkov, huh? Is he as good in bed as he is good looking?"
"Brie, he tried to kill you, like, an hour ago. He literally held a knife to your throat and beat the shit outta your face."
She shrugged, "So? That man is sexy as hell, especially when he's threatening to decapitate me." She paused, and nodded, "Yeah. Decapitation, major turn-on. Instant orgasm."
"You're insane."
She sighed, "Yup, personally, I think its the blonde hair. But seriously, Calla, spill."
I raised my hand, "What's there to spill? He's literally Satan. The Devil kidnapped and bought me."
Brie lowered her eyes, "have ya'll fucked?"
"Okay, two things. One, don't say ya'll, and two, why does it matter?"
A grin pulled at her lips, "two things. One, I'll say 'y'all' if I want to because it's cool and I'm cool. And two, OHMIGOD YOU TOTALLY FUCKED HIM."
I held my hand to my mouth and shushed her. "Brie, shut the fuck up, they can probably hear us through the door."
she held up her middle finger, "okay...so? How was it? The big Russian dick? Did you like it? Did he eat you out? Did you cu-"
I held up my hand to silence her, Jesus fuck. Even in the face of death, Brie's eccentric personality will always prevail.
"It was great, I think, I was drunk when it happened. The morning after, I wanted round two, so I guess it was great."
"Did you get round two?"
"No, he had to go...uh, kill a few people, and torture you."
she pouted, "shit I totally cock blocked you, sorry. But, do you actually like him?"
I frowned at her question. I had never really put much thought into the idea of liking Sinister. I couldn't find or formulate the words in my mind to describe the way I felt about him. He was all over the place, toying with my emotions like it was some sort of game.
I don't hate him, I don't love him.
I know I sway more one way, than the other. Yet, I think I'm too afraid to admit to myself the path I sway towards.
I see him coming. I know I should hide, or barricade myself in a wall of pure detest, but I can't bring myself to fend against the destruction that is Sinister Velkov. I know the disaster he will bring, yet I somehow fully welcome it.
"I don't know" I finally said.
She nodded in understanding, almost as if she could see the internal battle I was facing.
I shrugged, "he said he needed to talk to you when we were done talking." I stood off the ground, watching as Brie struggled to stand, guilt flooded through me as I looked at how damaged she was.
"Well..." she sighed as I knocked three times on the door "let's go talk to the Devil himself."
