"They are not omegas. It's not very often that an omega can stand in the presence of the Third Prince… or even, umm… Oh, the kitchens! Here! Off you go!" He looks far too relieved as he ushers me inside. Clearly, he does not want to continue with this conversation.
At least he has been kind enough to guide me. "Thank you!" I call out.
He pauses, turns and gives me a smile, but it doesn’t mask the pity in his eyes.
"What do you want here?! I'm busy!" a woman growls, glaring at me as she hoists a large pot of kneaded dough off the counter. Her hair is in a net, and she is wearing a pair of latex gloves on her hands.
Despite her hostility, her growl doesn’t scare me; this feels like home. Although the hustle and bustle here is far more than that of the Welhaven Manor, it is a place I know how to handle. "Sorry, the Third Prince wants breakfast immediately," I say, making her pause.
The entire kitchen falls silent, and all eyes are now on me.
"It's her!"
"She's the Welhavens’ orphan!"
"She's alive."
The whispers are clear, even when they try to remain hushed.
The woman who had spoken plonks the bowl down and motions for someone to step forward, a young man who looks like a warrior. He isn’t as burly as a standard warrior, being a little smaller in build. "Antonio! Is this true?"
The man, Antonio, steps forward, sizing me up. "The Prince does have an omega…"
"Well, go with her! If anything goes wrong, he'll have our heads, too," the woman says, looking me over distastefully. "Give her the tray!"
I wait, my fingers itching to help, but I don’t really know how things work here. I see many people coming in and out of the kitchen. Someone pushes me, irritated, as she enters and picks up a tray.
"Watch where you're standing," she mutters, leaving the kitchen. I step away from the entrance only to bump into someone else who mutters something irritably as he walks off.
Running a hand through my hair, I look around, trying to process how things work here. But before I can even observe for long, a tray is shoved into my hands. It contains a thermos of a hot drink, a large mug, a glass, and a full breakfast, including bacon, eggs, toast, and cooked tomatoes. A large glass bottle of fresh juice is placed on the tray before she jerks her head, a clear indication she wants me gone.
Oh, it smells so good. I am starving, too.
I hurry down the hall, with Antonio following on my heels.
"You seem in a rush to get back," he remarks.
"I don't want to be late," I reply. This is normal, just as I used to give Grandmother breakfast on the weekends. But despite his tone, I am grateful for his guidance as I got confused several times. Reaching the bedroom, he gives me a wave and walks off, clearly not wanting to be here.
Taking a deep breath, the fear that seems to have lifted when I left the room returns in full force. I raise my hand and knock firmly. Not too loud, not too quiet, just the right amount of force behind it.
"Enter," his deep, seductive voice comes. Even if he is terrifying, something about the man inside the room is appealing. Balancing the tray on one hand, I open the door and step inside, making sure not to spill anything and close the door quietly after me. "Bring it to my bedroom.”
I can smell the Prince's scent, mixed with the smell of shampoo, a pleasant mix. When I enter the bedroom, I freeze, my eyes flying open and all colour draining from my face at the sight before me.
He stands there, his broad, muscular back is towards me, from those bulging arms to his narrow waist, every angle of his defined, sexy body is on display. The man may be terrifying, but even I know that he is extremely handsome, right down to his ass. Somehow, I can’t look away, even though my head is screaming at me to unfreeze and turn.
Goddess…But, if there is an award for the sexiest butt in the world, I think the Prince would win hands down, and I can vouch for him because the Alpha Prince was standing there, completely naked.
A squeak leaves my mouth, and I wonder if perhaps I am a mouse shifter.
The Prince turns, and I close my eyes quickly, not wanting to see anything else that might be unforgettable. I shiver when I hear him approach and crack open one eye, turning my head away as I hurry to the table in his room and place the tray down.
Run, Evangeline! Why was he naked anyway?!"Yo-your b-breakfast – eek!" I squeak when his hand wraps around my upper arm and yanks me away from the table. I wince at the pain that shoots through me. I’m not completely healed yet. I clamp my eyes shut, staying rigid as he holds me, very aware of the heat from his body.
"You're a strange one," he mutters so quietly that I’m not sure I heard him correctly. "Open your eyes," he growls, the command in his voice forcing me to oblige.
The fear returns along with that powerful aura, memories of my nightmares returning with a vengeance. I find myself unable to move as I stare into those eyes that are such a beautiful shade.
Would my death come soon?"I-I'm sorry, please forgive me," I whisper, terrified as I lower my head to him, only for my eyes to fall on his manhood.
My eyes widened in surprise and horror, and now I realise why no woman lived. If I thought that the men I have accidentally seen naked were well endowed, then the Alpha Prince is on an entirely new level.
I can feel my cheeks burning with embarrassment, realising he isn’t even turned on. I feel an odd, funny feeling inside and bite my lip.
Hearing him scoff, I look up suddenly and straight into those cold eyes that make all embarrassment fade and it is replaced with fear again. "Don't forget whose presence you're in, Little Mouse." His cold, menacing warning comes before he leans closer, inhaling my scent from my neck.
Do I stink? What is he sniffing? Is it the fear?
"Yes, My Prince," I reply, trying to calm my beating heart, biting my lip to stop myself from whimpering in fear. The taste of blood in my mouth tells me I bit down too hard.
Goddess, please leave me alone. He let go of me suddenly as if I am poison. I almost stumble when he shoves me away, luckily missing the table before I fall on top of his breakfast. "Get out!" he snarls.
"Y-yes," I whisper, backing away from him, my heart thundering when I see his claws extend.
Terror wraps around me as I hurry to the door. I don’t know where to go, but anywhere away from him will work.
"Go to the Head Omega and ask her for clothes," he hisses, and when his gaze falls on me, I see his eyes are blazing red.
"Yes, Alpha Prince," I whisper, turning and running from the bedroom. I stumble over the hem of my sweatpants and rush to the door that led to the hall, relieved to be away from him.
I flinch when I hear something break, followed by more things crashing. What had triggered him?
The visions from my nightmare are still hovering at the forefront of my mind, and I slowly make my way to the kitchen. Surely someone there can tell me where to find the Head Omega.
Right now, thinking about school and wishing for that old life back feels like a dream. I should have been grateful for what I had instead of wishing the days away. Now, look where I am.Spotting two omega women walking by, I hurry over and asked for directions. Luckily, they tell me, and I am not too far. I feel lost in this castle, but anywhere is better than in the Prince's quarters.
I can’t help but think about how his sudden change in behaviour seems odd. Is he going feral? Was that how he killed the women, or is it really because of his monster cock?
Sighing, I knock on the door, which clearly reads – Head Omega Dolores Palmer – on a gold plate on the door.
"Come in!" a brisk voice calls out, and I open the door
