KIREN'S P.O.V
I couldn't take my eyes away from her mesmerizing face. I've seen it in my dreams over the last few months, many times. It was more than a coincidence that she was here right now. Her eyes pooled with lust and hunger, something I hadn't expected. But here we are.
"You reek of a dog." I said when she couldn't take her eyes off of me.
I watched her throat as she swallowed nervously.
"I have showered several times since I left my pack. Which means that I smell of-"
"Dog and peaches." I said, interjecting her statement.
"Actually, I was going to say almond and Shea butter. That's the smell of my shampoo and conditioner."
"I suppose there is a subtle scent of that as well."
"If you're not a werewolf, then how do you smell that well?"
"For me to know and you to wonder."
"Oh, I know."
I perked up with anticipation of what her guess would be.
"Go on. Take your best shot, peach."
"Peach?"
"Wrong. Try again."
My powerful aura slipped out purposely as I let out a low chuckle. Of course, I knew she was referring to what I was calling her. But I wouldn't pass up taunting her a bit.
"That wasn't my guess, asshat. I was trying to say before you rudely interrupted to stop calling me that. It's weird."
"No can do peach. It suits you." I stopped speaking for a moment to take in her appearance. Fuck, she was everything I ever imagined and so much more.
"My eyes are up here, buddy." She said with a sassy attitude, snapping me out of my head.
"Humor me." I said, placing my hand on my face.
I rubbed my thumb and pointer finger along my chin as I watched her body language tremble under my gaze. Suddenly, her face lit up with amusement before she replied.
"You're a wizard, Harry."
My forehead creased with a frown.
"You said humor me." She replied with a serious expression before speaking again. "Come on, don't tell me you don't know the most famous line of all time by Hagrid in Harry Potter?"
I assumed my face told her I had the slightest clue what she was referring to.
"For all that is holy. Please tell me you know what Harry Potter is?"
"Is he famous like this Hagrid man?"
"Oh my goddess. You've never seen it? How is that even possible?"
I let out a low sigh.
"Fine. Be boring."
"You're guess, peach. What is it?" I asked with a bit of a deeper tone.
"Fine. I can't feel anything magical about you. There is no way that you're an immortal."
"You seem confident in that."
A cocky grin spread across her face.
"What do I get if I'm right?"
"You won't be, but I'll play along. What do you want?" I paused for a moment before speaking again "Peach." I said, finishing my sentence, taunting her again.
"Seriously, enough with the stupid name."
"Most women love that sort of thing."
"Clearly, I am not 'most women'." She responded while using her fingers to air-quote, putting emphasis on her statement.
"Dinner is getting cold. Sit down, let's eat."
She whipped around, confused as to how the food magically arrived.
"But...who brought it?"
"I did. Now, sit." I said while pulling the chair out for her.
She looked around stunned before taking a seat and mumbling under her breath. When I also took my seat she glared at me.
"Okay fine. I'll start the conversation. Why am I here?" She asked in a demanding tone.
"Because I wanted to chat."
"And you couldn't be normal and simply approach me?"
"Where is the fun in that?" I asked with an amused look on my face.
"Fun?"
"Wasn't it a thrill to wake up in an unfamiliar bed?"
"You have a weird view of what fun or thrilling is."
"Maybe so. But it was thrilling, was it not?"
I watched her face change from one expression to the next as she took in what I said.
"How do I know you?" She asked me, dodging my question.
"That part is a gray area. I was wondering if you could answer that for me."
"Me answer that for you? You've got to be kidding. You're the one who is supposed to be all mighty and powerful."
"Is that what they told you?" I asked, laughing again. "I suppose one could view me as such. But I never claimed that title."
She looked at her watch then back at me.
"I'm supposed to be in-"
"Germany, I know. What a fascinating choice to run away too." I watched her glare turn into more of a stare before I asked my next question.
"Why?"
"That is none of your business."
"I suppose not. But I couldn't see what that country has to offer you."
"Anything other than..." She stopped talking mid-sentence, clearing her throat and taking a drink of water. "Look. Let's cut the bullshit. We are both adults here. Tell me what you want from me."
So many things. So many damn things. But I knew she wasn't ready for that. Not yet.
"You're free to leave whenever you choose to. You aren't a hostage."
"Am I not? I mean come on. I was drugged and kidnapped."
"Don't be so pompous."
"Seriously?" Her voice was angry and full of hate. But that only fueled my desires.
"You were simply sedated for security purposes."
"Against my will." She added.
"Now it's time to answer some of my questions." I then said, avoiding her choice of topic.
"But you didn't even answer any of mine. Why would I answer yours?"
"How did you know how to find me?" I asked, ignoring her statement.
"I didn't."
"You expect me to believe that you just stumbled into my town?"
"Your town?"
"That's what I said, is it not?" I asked in a more stern tone.
"I just drove until I was too tired to keep driving. I never set out to find anyone. Especially not you. I didn't even know you were real until five minutes ago."
"Germany is in the opposite direction. Why wouldn't you get as close to the Atlantic Ocean in order to get to Germany?"
"Because. I didn't want to be found easily. Harder to track if I throw them off my trail."
"Who are you running from and why?" I asked now in a more curious tone.
"That is not your concern. My turn. Why do they keep saying I am the 'chosen one'?"
I laughed at her question. Where on earth would she get that from?
"Why would I choose someone who clearly doesn't want to be chosen?"
"You can't answer a question with a question."
"Can I not?"
"Stop that." She demanded in a tone that reminded me much of a child.
"Look. I brought you here to get answers. But I can tell you're just as unsure why we crossed paths as I am."
"Wolves call it-"
"Fate. I know. But we aren't wolves, are we?"
"I know that I am not. However, I have no idea what you are."
"Let's keep it that way." I said, in a more serious manner than a playful one.
"Look. I just want to go to Germany. So, can I go?"
"Under one condition," I replied.
She let out a defeated sigh before nodding in agreement.
"You help me figure out why we were destined to meet."
Her face turned into a frown, then moments later the frown released its tight hold on her forehead and she let out a sigh again.
"Fine. But if I help you, then you have to do something for me."
"What's that, peach?"
I was uncertain if I wanted to be roped into her madness. She was already running from something. Was I willing to get involved with whatever she was doing just so I could get the answers I seeked?
