Beauty wasn't her usual self.
Normally, she'd greet him with a smile or a shy blush, her eyes lighting up whenever their gazes met. Even before they ever had a conversation. She was always smiling whenever they made eye contact.
"Perhaps the same with the rest of them".
He thought as he noticed the female staff smiling and giggling at his new look.
However, he attracted him in a different way. But today, she didn't even acknowledge his presence. She kept her head down, busying herself with whatever task was in front of her, avoiding any eye contact.
Bruno's heart felt like his heart just got ripped out of its chamber.
He tried to catch her eye, by intentionally walking In Front of her desk with the hope of sparking even a small greeting, but she barely glanced in his direction.
She looked...determined to avoid him at all means, like she was deliberately putting up a wall between them.
*What's going on? Did I do something wrong?*
Bruno thought, feeling the sharp sting of anxiety prick at him.
The change in her behavior was driving him crazy, really crazy that it surprised him. He had to hold back, or he did grab her head and make her look at him.
This look can't be a waste.
Just yesterday, they'd shared a time together in the car, and he wasn't able to stop thinking about it.
And now, it felt like she was shutting him out completely and that made him feel sick to his stomach.
Bruno walked to his office sadly with his mind racing with different thoughts.
Had he misread everything? Does she find him creepy?
He couldn't understand it, and the more he thought about it, the more it worried him. He felt like he was losing his grip on something precious, something he hadn't even had a chance to fully explore yet.
He got into his office and shut the door. Dropping on his desk he arched his brow. A sudden anger filled him up.
He tried to focus on work, but his mind kept drifting back to Beauty. Her silence was suffocating.
He had to get back but getting up he closed his eyes and forced himself back to his seat.
*If I make a scene she might get embarrassed and all that. I had to consider her personality too*
After a few minutes, Bruno said fuck it all and stood up.
He pretended to be going to the model's department and passed her desk again, yet she acted like he was a ghost.
The tension in Bruno's chest tightened, his worry escalating into something like panic. He couldn't bear the thought of her hating him, not after what they shared when he drove her home.
"I need to talk to her", he thought, his fingers twitching with frustration. "I need to know what's going on! I can't lose her".
Bruno thought desperately.
"Could it be her parents?"
He wondered, replaying how he saw them looking out of the window.
Maybe they'd warned her about him after seeing them together. He didn't think he came off as a bad influence, but what if he did? What if they thought he wasn't good enough for their daughter?
Or worse, what if she had someone else in her life, someone she'd been hiding from him all along?
That particular idea made him sick, his jaw clenched.
"Is there another man?" he thought, his chest tightening at the thought of her with someone else.
Someone who made her smile the way she used to smile at him.
He went back to his office in disappointment.
So much for having these feelings for someone. It is exhausting and overly distracting.
He felt like he had some heavy load pressed in his chest, and it was really painful.
He couldn't help but monitor her interactions from his office cam, his eyes subtly tracking her movements whenever he could.
It was creepy to have her on a focus, but maybe he could find out what happened to her without having to work straight to her and asked her about it.
Suddenly Eric, the newbie, approached her. He is tall, handsome and hot too. Bruno heard the girls talk about him last week.
Eric was new to the company and hadn't interacted with Beauty much before.
Bruno tapped on the zoom button for a clearer view.
It certainly is work related, but his attention was drawn when Eric walked right up to Beauty, and she suddenly softened and smiled at him.
"And that's the fastest way to lose your job, young man".
Bruno murmured to himself with a pout and hated that he is too kind to actually fire him right away.
