Raymond stood at the spot, feeling awkward and exposed, waiting for his fate.
When he couldn't stand the cold stare and the tension was burning his feet, and it was very uncomfortable.
He had to speak out first, apologize before Bruno takes action against this act of his.
He hesitated, unsure of how to proceed.
"I...am a bit tipsy. I apologize for my rude behavior".
"You are drunk? Is that what you are supposed to act like? You need more lessons on that, your acting skill sucks".
Bruno replied sarcastically.
*He maybe the quiet type but he got one devil of a tongue*
Raymond thought.
"I am so sorry Mr. Bruno, please don't hate me."
Raymond replied.
Bruno sighed deeply with a hand on his face.
"Fine, get back to work. I don't want this to repeat itself again."
"Thank..thank sir".
Raymond replied with his head still lowered.
Bruno walked past him towards the elevator.
Again, Raymond perceived the subtle scent of a feminine perfume all over him, making him realize what he had overlooked earlier.
A woman's fragrance.
There is a woman in his life.
Raymond closed his eyes in disappointment. He had always harbored a crush on Bruno, secretly hoping that the young billionaire might share the same feelings. But the scent of perfume on him, the soft hoodie that wasn't his... It was obvious now.
Bruno wasn't interested in men but women. He had clearly been with a woman this very day.
Raymond swallowed hard feeling a bit jealous, envy with a mix of embarrassment and regret.
His chances with Bruno were gone, and now it was all too clear that Bruno had someone else on his mind.
As Bruno disappeared into the elevator, Raymond stood there, staring after him, his mind racing trying to figure out who could be this strange woman.
How come no one knows about her.
Could it be just a mistress?
Not a serious relationship?
When the elevator doors finally closed, Raymond sighed deeply.
He was lost in thought, replaying the awkward encounter in his head, when Abigail suddenly appeared from where she was hiding, a smirk playing on her lips.
However, feeling the heavy weight of rejection that Bruno gave him. Raymond wasn't in the mood for her games.
"So...?"
Abigail whispered, crossing her arms, her eyes dancing with curiosity. "How did it go?"
Raymond hesitated for a moment, then let out a bitter laugh.
"How do you think it went?"
Abigail chuckled, expecting Raymond to make a lighthearted joke about the situation. But when she noticed the serious expression on his face, her amusement faded.
Raymond ran a hand through his hair, exhaling sharply.
"Abigail, I'm done," he said tightly.
"I'm quitting."
For a moment, Abigail thought she'd misheard him. Her eyes widened, and she blinked.
"Wait....what?" She tilted her head, as if trying to read his face. "You're joking, right? Quitting? Over what?"
"No, I am not".
"You can't be serious," she muttered, disbelief clouding her tone. "You're going to quit because of that? Over Bruno?"
"He is the reason I am here in the first place. It may sound weird, but I applied for this job just to be close to him. Now that he rejected me. I better quit so I can move on".
Abigail was offended.
"And who says you could quit? I employed you as my assistant you can't just quit like this".
She snapped angrily.
Raymond scoffed at that statement.
"The only reason I ever worked for your spoiled ass was because I had a crush on your brother. I wanted to be close to him. Else I won't have tolerated your annoying bossy attitudes."
Abigail was speechless for a moment, caught completely off guard by his change of attitude towards her.
"What did you just say to me? Did you just call me annoying?!"
She snapped angrily.
Raymond shrugged care freely, but there was sadness behind it.
"I'm sorry if my words were harsh. But I have to move on. You can easily replace me, after all."
Abigail opened her mouth to argue, but no words came out.
She simply stood there, watching as Raymond turned and started walking away, leaving her standing in the middle of the room and completely flabbergasted.
Then he paused at the entrance door.
"For the test...he is not gay. He, in fact, was with a woman earlier this evening".
Abigail's eyes widened at the revelation.
"That's impossible. Bruno is not seeing a woman, and I am not aware of it".
"The scent on him is different and feminine. I have stalked him long enough to know how all his cologne smells. Today it was different".
Abigail's jaw dropped.
