Third person's POV
Ayla suddenly reached out and removed Lucian's mask, giving him a light kiss on the cheek, "Lucian..."
This was the first time Tabitha saw Lucian's face. She had expected some birthmark or scar, but his face was clean, with sharp features and striking good looks.
Oddly, Tabitha felt he resembled Derek a bit.
Lucian quickly put his mask back on and said, "Let's go, to avoid further trouble."
Tabitha snapped out of her daze, thinking it must have been the poor night light, and held Gloria's hand as they boarded the speedboat.
Unbeknownst to her, the island had numerous cameras and small, insect-like HD capture devices hidden in trees and bushes, which could move flexibly and transmit Tabitha's and the children's movements to Derek.
Derek had already received information about Tabitha and Gloria's planned escape.
Now, Derek watched the fleeing figures on the screen.
Alvin asked worriedly, "Alpha Derek, are you really going to let Tabitha go? Once she leaves, we can't monitor her anymore."
This was the last and only chance.
"I promised to give her freedom."
But Derek had a backup plan. He had Alban give Tabitha a business card under the pretext of being her teacher, Osbert.
If Tabitha wanted to continue her medical career, she would contact Osbert.
Derek watched the man on the screen with his children running to another man, feeling jealous.
Ayla had suddenly removed Lucian's mask, revealing his face clearly on the big screen for just a few seconds, leaving everyone present stunned.
"Randall!"
"How could it be him? Isn't he dead?"
"I must be seeing things, I thought I saw Randall!"
Derek trembled, reliving the moment of Randall's death.
But that gunshot had hit Randall's heart. He was definitely dead.
No way!
"No, he's not Randall. Randall died in my arms. I'm certain about that."
Derek fixed his eyes on the masked man on the screen and said, "He's Lucian. If I'm not mistaken, Randall had a twin brother, and this must be him!"
"My goodness, what's going on? Randall had a brother, and we never knew!"
"Send everyone on the island to stop them!"
Derek muttered to himself, "Sorry, Tabitha."
He had intended to let her go this time, but this man's identity was too mysterious.
If he was truly Randall's brother, Derek couldn't let him roam free.
Suddenly, alarms blared on the island.
Gloria was startled, nearly falling off the boat, her face filled with panic.
"Discovered so soon? Tabitha, what do we do? If caught, will Derek put me in a cage too?"
"Less talking, run faster. Lucian, speed up."
Tabitha held the two children tightly, wrapping them in thick coats.
Lucian increased the speed, and the speedboat sped forward.
Tabitha comforted Gloria, "Don't worry. Even if they know we've run, they won't find us easily."
As she spoke, the sound of a helicopter rotor echoed overhead.
A helicopter swiftly flew towards the sea, heading in their direction.
Tabitha realized Derek had always known her whereabouts!
"Tabitha, you and Derek are way too cunning! I thought you were already pretty sharp, but it turns out he's even sharper. Now we're in trouble. There's no way we can escape. If we get caught and taken back, will he put us in a cage? And you ran away with your lover. Maybe I should say he's my lover."
Tabitha said helplessly, "I really appreciate it."
Gloria grinned, "I'm being loyal, right?"
"Fear not, I am here." Lucian's voice carried on the wind.
He had been preparing for days, and clearly, there was more than one speedboat.
Others would need time to catch up, and the only immediate threat to them were the two helicopters overhead.
Because Tabitha was on the speedboat, the helicopters could only follow from a distance, not daring to attack her.
The spray from the speedboat hit Tabitha's face. In the dark of night, her gaze was particularly resolute.
"Gloria, no turning back. Since we've chosen this path, don't give up. Do you want to be his mistress forever? Wait for him to discard you with a sum of money when you're old? We're young and have a brighter future. Look at me, I faced terminal illness without fear. What are you afraid of?"
Gloria nodded, "Tabitha, I believe in you!"
