Third person's POV
After muttering to herself, she returned to the bathroom to freshen up. When she came out, she felt that Derek was in an unusually good mood, as if he was surrounded by pink bubbles.
Derek looked at her with a beaming smile. "Tabitha, it's getting late. We should sleep now. Good night."
Hearing the word "sleep," Tabitha's face turned red again.
"I promise. It's just sleep."
"I'll take the sofa."
After what had just happened, there was no way Tabitha could feel comfortable sharing a bed with Derek.
She even suspected that everything had been premeditated by him.
Tabitha lay down on the sofa with another blanket in her arms.
Derek sat on the bed, looking aggrieved. "Tabitha, there are only four days left. Can't you stay with me a bit longer?"
"No, go to sleep," Tabitha replied irritably, turning over and facing away from him, even covering her head with the blanket.
But the strange sensation between her legs wouldn't go away.
Even though everything had ended, her face was still burning hot.
What a jerk!
Never mind. There were only four days left.
Thinking of her plan, Tabitha didn't dwell on it anymore. After all, they hadn't had any substantial relationship tonight.
Derek watched Tabitha's back. After her breathing gradually steadied, he carefully walked to her side and lifted her horizontally in his arms.
He didn't care if his wound would split open. He just didn't want Tabitha to sleep on the sofa.
Tabitha woke up groggily, opened her eyes, and looked at Derek, asking warily, "What are you going to do now?"
Her expression was like she was guarding against a thief.
Derek said helplessly, "You sleep in the bed, and I'll take the sofa."
These words entered Tabitha's ears. Her face instantly turned red in the dark.
At first, she just thought he would hold her and sleep soundly, so she didn't stop him. But she didn't expect that later he would become more and more daring, taking advantage of the situation.
If she hadn't stopped this kind of thing from the beginning, it was like giving tacit approval. Now, she couldn't pretend to be asleep, and she couldn't scold Derek either. It was like being cornered with no way out.
Derek's hands were still wandering at will, "Tabitha, after such a long time, haven't you thought about it?"
Tabitha's face turned red, and even her voice became a bit breathless, "I struggle to live every day. Do you think I have time to think about these things?"
Derek kissed her earlobe from behind, his voice husky. "I've been thinking about you every day. I'm almost going crazy."
In the past, when they were together, they were also very sweet, but Derek was reserved. He never expressed his feelings so openly and passionately.
Even in front of Tabitha, he was used to hiding his emotions and not letting others easily guess his thoughts.
Their previous relationship was like that of novices. After going through so many hardships, Derek also grew slowly.
As Tabitha said, many of her grievances towards Derek were due to the lack of communication.
Misunderstandings and concealments were also the main reasons for the breakdown of their marriage. After going through life-and-death tests, Derek just wanted to clearly tell Tabitha his feelings.
He didn't want to leave any regrets in his life. He loved her, and even if he wasn't accepted, he had to be brave enough to say it.
How could Tabitha withstand such an attack?
"Let me go. If you keep doing this, I'm really going to get angry," Tabitha's body was burning, feeling that things were about to get out of control. She began to struggle.
"Hiss." Derek let out a cry.
Tabitha quickly stopped, "Did I hurt your wound?"
Derek nodded, "Yeah, it hurts."
He said that, but his hands didn't let go. Instead, Tabitha didn't dare to move anymore.
Derek became even more daring. His fingers had already reached her pajama bottoms.
"Tabitha, help me one more time, okay? Otherwise, I can't sleep."
Once some words are spoken, it's like a dam has a hole, and the floodwater keeps gushing out, unable to be stopped.
Tabitha said indignantly, "No. Don't be too outrageous."
"Tabitha, I'm afraid there won't be a chance later."
Derek eagerly kissed behind her ear, making her body tremble slightly.
Did this man guess her plan again?
This time, she planned to leave him forever. She didn't want to live a passive life anymore, nor did she want to be a pawn to threaten Derek. She also didn't want to disturb Derek because of her troubles.
Leaving was the best choice.
Although Derek didn't say it outright, his behavior several times seemed to imply this. The greatest tacit understanding between adults is unspoken.
While she was lost in thought, Derek's fingers skillfully unbuttoned her pajamas, as if breaking through the defenses in her heart as well.
Tabitha, with her back to him, said in a low voice, "I've been with someone else. Aren't you disgusted?"
She remembered that in the past, Orson had just put a coat on her once, and Derek tied her under the shower, dousing her with cold water in the dead of winter, regardless of her desperate pleas. Not to mention that she had been with Wilmot. How could Derek, with his temper, tolerate it?
Derek's fingers unbuttoned the last button and whispered in her ear, "You're the purest woman in this world."
