Chapter Fifteen

Bethany woke up to the delicious feeling of a warm wet tongue between her thighs. “Aidan?”

“And who else might it be?” he asked, giving her a teasing bite on her inner thigh.

“You looked a bit sore, so I’m kissing it better.”

“You’re looking at me?”

“Yes, and if you’ll shut up, I will continue to kiss it better until you come.”

“I’m not arguing with you.”

Aidan laughed and then returned to manipulating her core with his skillful tongue. Grabbing her behind in both hands, he brought her body into perfect alignment for his avid mouth. Bethany sighed as the tension began to build anew. God, he was an amazing lover. She never knew sex could be this good. As she reached another climax, she felt him filling her with his thick length. As he plunged in and out, he murmured the most deliciously obscene things in her ear. She let go again and felt him reach his own release.

The knock on the door was an intrusion they both ignored. Bethany continued to trace a finger around Aidan’s spectacular chest. Aidan smiled at her, his eyes heavy lidded with satisfaction.

“Are you ready for more?” Aidan asked as he rolled his body on top of her and lightly kissed her mouth.

“Was that the door I heard or my heart?”

Aidan smiled. “It was the door, but I’m not going to—” He frowned as the knocking became more aggressive. With an annoyed groan, Aidan kissed her and walked over to answer the racket. “Look, I told you we would call when we wanted our lobster.”

“Aidan Shannon, you let me in, I need to talk to you!” A shrill voice that clearly was not from a Four Seasons wait staff member shot through the door. Aidan growled an obscenity so fierce that Bethany’s jaw dropped in shock.

“Paula, I’ll call you later; this is not a good time.”

“I’m not leaving until you let me in,” Paula replied.

Aidan dropped his head and took a deep breath, “Well, I’m not letting you in, Paula, I have company.”

“Tell her to go away,” she said in exasperation, knocking agitatedly again.

“Absolutely not, especially since I want her to stay right where she is, and I want you to go away.”

“Aidan, I really need you right now,” Paula whined.

Aidan opened the door an inch and said, “We are no longer married, you need to try to find someone else to dump your problems on. Don’t you have a shrink?”

“You can’t do this to me,” she shrieked, “I’m still your wife, damn it!”

In a voice that was positively arctic, he said “No, you are not my wife. We are divorced. You stopped being my wife the moment you cheated on me.”

“Oh, please, like you never cheated on me?” Paula asked tersely.

“Not once, Paula, not the whole time we were married. Now get out of here.” With that, he closed the door in her face.

Aidan walked back to the bed. “Shall I order dinner?” he asked, ignoring the knocking and the loud pleading that accompanied it.

“Sure,” Bethany answered, eyeing the door with caution.

“That,” Aidan said, indicating the door, “was my ex-wife.”

“Yeah, I got that. She is a bit dramatic, isn’t she?”

Aidan frowned. “Yeah, she is a bit of a diva.” Aidan sat next to her on the bed and hugged her close. “You know her, right? From Night on the Bay, she played Lana DeMarco.” It was clear he was relieved when she said, “I don’t watch that show.”

“You’re not missing much. Anyway, she is used to drama and getting her own way.”

“I’m sorry things didn’t work out for you.”

“Really? I’m not. We wouldn’t be here right now, would we?”

Bethany grinned. “No, you’re right. I take it all back, I’m not sorry at all.”

Aidan laughed and grabbed the phone. “So, lobster?”

Bethany grinned. “Please! And dessert.”

Aidan dropped the phone and rolled on top of her. “You’re my kind of girl, you know that? What kind of dessert?”

Bethany kissed his chin. “Chocolate.”

Aidan stared at her. “Chocolate what?”

“Chocolate anything.”

Aidan kissed her again, this time with such tenderness that it practically brought tears to her eyes.

“You got it, Bethany,” he said softly.

As Aidan placed the call for room service, Bethany looked out at the incredible view. She had to keep reminding herself that he was just interested in her for sex, just because he kissed her with something akin to worship didn’t mean anything. He was an actor, after all. And just because he said her name like he loved her—

“What has that frown on your face? I ordered every kind of chocolate dessert on the menu. That should keep you happy.” Aidan hugged her from behind, kissing and nuzzling the nape of her neck.

“Every chocolate dessert? That makes me…” She pretended to consider her words. “Yep, that makes me your slave for life.” The moment she finished her teasing words she froze. The words for life were not part of their vocabulary, and the crease in his forehead told her he was not happy with her joke.

“Sorry, Aidan, I didn’t mean—”

Aidan turned her around. “It’s all right. Let’s take a shower. Our food won’t be here for about forty-five minutes.”

Bethany knew she needed to be more casual and grownup about this relationship. How would a more experienced woman handle this situation? By being provocative, probably. She brightened. “Are we going to have sex in the shower?”

Aidan’s eyes darkened with interest. “You want to?”

Bethany considered the question. “I never have, and it always seems kind of sexy in movies and books. Is it?”

“Your honesty blows me away, luv,” Aidan said. An unconscious look at the door to the room made it clear honesty was not one of Paula’s virtues. “Beth, it can be really sexy, and sometimes it can be pretty frustrating.”

“How come?” Her eyes were wide with curiosity.

“The water can block some of the sensitivity, plus it’s slippery in there. I had a concussion once from falling in a tub during sex,” he admitted sheepishly.

Bethany laughed while trying not to picture him in the shower with someone else. “I bet that was a fun hospital visit.”

He smiled with a hint of shame in his eyes, which she could tell he was putting on for her. “Yeah, pretty embarrassing.”

Bethany attempted a worldliness she didn’t feel. “Well,” she said lightly, “if you can guarantee me one of those orgasms, I would be happy to have shower sex with you.”

Aidan chuckled and ushered her into the bathroom.

The shower was separate from the bathtub. The stall had a marble floor and two showerheads on either side. So this was how the other half lived, Bethany thought, shaking her head. As much as she loved her condo, the shower was a tight fit that was not made for luxurious cleaning sessions. This room was an entirely different world in personal cleanliness.

“So are you going to stare at the shower all night, or are we going to get it on?” Aidan asked, leaning negligently against the bathroom door.

Bethany brazenly dropped her robe, glanced at him over her shoulder, and walked into the shower. Aidan followed with a smile on his face.
