"I didn't steal anything, I put everything, back into its place," I confessed as I saw Alaric's claw emerge from his finger, and his brown eyes leered at me with anger as he came close to me.
"I'm going to cut off your paws, for stealing from the alpha," he warned me.
Remembering what had happened to my tail. I had lost it to my pack's enemy. I spun around and ran into a room and exited the alpha's home through an open door. The door led me to the back of his house. I ran fast for my life as Alaric chased me in his large brown wolf form. I quickly made a turn to escape into the forest, I squealed as I felt my body shove to the ground. I rolled and landed straight on my back.
"You're going to pay for stealing from us!" Alaric growled as he sank his claws into my belly.
I whimpered in pain.
He pushed his sharp claw further into my body and I felt my body shift. I was now within my human form after 12 years. My long blonde silky hair spread out along the ground as if it had no end.
Alaric eyes widened and he immediately remove his claws from my body as I looked at him with fear.
I'm sorry I heard him was about to say.
I heard a footstep coming towards us and immediately I shifted back into my wolf form.
"Have you caught her?" I heard the alpha making his way toward us.
"Yes," retorted Alaric.
The alpha instructed Alaric to take me to him and spun around returning back to his house. My eyes closed scared as I saw Alaric leaning to take me up. I thought he was going to drag me along the ground just as he did before but I was surprised. His hand gently touched my body allowing me to stand on my four feet.
"Go," he told me.
I went before him.
"Don't try running away," he said to me softly.
I limped in pain as he walked behind me. I fell onto my face still in pain.
Alaric quickly helped me from the floor. My body jumped surprisingly at his action.
I again started on my way until we both were inside the home. The alpha was waiting on us when we got there.
As he saw me he reached for me and threw me into the wall. I whimpered in more pain.
"Give him what you've stolen," I heard Alaric.
In his voice, he sounded worried.
I lay on the ground weak. The alpha came close to me and bend down. I looked at him as I breathed heavily and still bleeding from Alaric claws. My body hasn't fully healed as yet.
"Where is the gold you've stolen from me?" he asked in a low tone that sounded dark and deadly.
"I have no gold," I answered slowly as I breathed heavily.
I was clueless about what was gold.
"Liar!" he shouted.
His shout was so loud it echoes in the house and my ears felt like they were bleeding.
"I didn't steal it," I could not hold back my tears.
Heavy rain came pouring down on the roof. The alpha looked up hearing the sound. Soon he slowly brought his head back to me.
"I swear I didn't" I cried.
"Liar," he said as his teeth tightened.
"I should have never allowed you in my house."
The alpha began to step into my side over and over again and I felt like my soul again was leaving my body. My eyes slowly closed, was this time the end of me?
"Stop it!" I heard a loud shout.
My eyes slowly opened as I no longer felt the alpha kick anymore and there I saw Madison standing before me.
"She stole from me," I heard the alpha say to Madison. "She has failed this test. I will never accept her as a part of this pack."
No, I wanted to be a part of his pack. I wanted to be safe with them.
"I didn't steal from him," I spoke softly to Madison.
"I know you didn't," she lowered herself to me.
Unlike the cruel alpha Madison believed.
"She's a rogue, of course, she steal it," said the alpha.
"I'm not a rogue," I had told them the truth.
I needed to be a part of their pack. I needed to be safe with them.
"Then which pack are you from?" asked Madison as one of her hands laid on my head.
There was no way I could tell her which pack I was from.
"I've been alone since my mom died as a pup, hiding in the depth of the forest" I lied to her.
"That's why you don't know much," said Madison.
I whimpered.
"I don't know what's gold," I told Madison.
"It's okay, don't talk anymore," said Madison.
"Liar," said the alpha not believing a word I said.
"Enough of you!" shouted Madison. "It's not her fault you cannot go back to, Red!"
The alpha was silent at her words.
"Help me home with her," Madison told Alaric.
Alaric looked at his alpha whose head was now lowered hurt by Madison's words, wanting to know if it was okay to help me up.
"Get the scoundrel from my house," he told Alaric and walked quickly upstairs.
Madison watched him as he did, within her eyes I could see she didn't mean what she had said. She was just angry that he almost killed me.
Alaric gently took me up, and Madison followed behind him.
As we arrived home, Madison instructed Alaric to place me on the floor.
He then stood staring at me.
"You can leave now," said Madison.
Alaric gave me a last look and then left, within his eyes I could see he was sorry for hurting me. It seemed my human form had somehow affected him causing him to become softhearted to me.
I wasn't worried that he saw my human form, though my grandmother warned me to never shift into my human form. My human form was too unique and beautiful for a wolf to not discover I was a River pack member. Alaric didn't discover who I was seeing my human form for the first. I now realized as long as my blue marking was always covered and my identity was hidden no one would ever know who I was.
I sadly watched Madison as she attended to my wounds.
"They're healing," she told me.
She gave me a white liquid that tasted bad for pain.
"I will never be a part of the pack," I cried.
"Remember you have me," Madison told me as she touched my furry head.
I wasn't happy with what she had said. I wanted the alpha to protect me as he protect her and every one of the pack and I admired how my enemies feared him.
I whimpered as I lowered my head.
"Lately it has been raining very often," said Madison as she sat before me on the ground.
Immediately I stopped my tears and the rain stopped.
"Wow, it's like the rain as ears," she said.
The night I decided to sleep in the spare room Madison had given me. I didn't feel sleepy at all. All I could think of was that there was not any more chance for me to be a part of the alpha pack. I needed to be part of his pack. I was desperate. Recollecting Alaric seeing my human form for the first and his entire behavior towards me changed. I started to believe that perhaps the alpha as well sees me within my human form. His cruel behavior towards me would change. There could be some hope for me within my human form.
I jumped off the bed and went to the mirror. My eyes slowly closed as I began to shift into my human form and reopened now seeing my human form after 12 years.
