"He used you to harm Angela. I am going to use you to punish him," Bryce said and Zora raised her head to stare at him. "Now listen to me carefully. Tomorrow, you will go to the office and act normal. By normal I mean he must know that you know his correct health status. Onboard him and let him start work," he added and Zora expressed confusion.
"Is that all that I am supposed to do?" Zora asked staring at Bryce.
"Yes, give him the job, and don't change your attitude toward him," Bryce echoed, and Zora nodded. "I am done," he said and at that moment Angela woke up.
"Zora, you are here?" Angela said drawing everyone's attention in her direction.
Zora smiled and walked up to her and stood by her bedside. She held Angela's hand in hers and smiled.
"I am glad you are awake. How are you?" Zora asked and Angela smiled.
Bryce and Martin just stared at the two women chatting.
"Where is mummy and daddy?" Angela asked and Zora turned to look at Bryce and Martin.
"They travelled," Bryce quickly replied and Zora knew something was not right.
"Is that true?" Angela asked, staring at Zora.
"Er, yes," Zora replied forming a smile.
"To where?" Angela asked Zora and Zora turned to look at Bryce.
"My love, they went on a vacation after finding out you are now married to me and will be moving into my home," Bryce said and Angela shifted her gaze in the direction of Bryce.
"They already know about us?" Angela asked surprised.
"Yes. Zora and I were discussing something, and it slipped out of my mouth. Your parents heard it," Bryce quickly replied. Zora just stared at him, surprised by how quickly he had made up a convincing story.
"Oh, okay," Angela said sounding dull.
"I am sorry," Bryce apologized and Angela shifted her gaze towards him smiling.
"It's fine. It's good they know. It puts me at peace," Angela said to Bryce and Bryce reached for her hand and held it in his.
"I am glad you are fine," Zora said drawing Angela's attention back to herself.
"What happened to me? How did we end up here?" Angela asked seeing Bryce was also lying on the hospital bed.
"Er," Zora began and shifted her gaze to Bryce.
"We were attacked. You passed out," Bryce replied. "You were seriously injured and so was I," he added and Angela nodded even though she couldn't remember what happened.
All she remembered was, getting her things from Mr and Mrs Anderson's home to move in with Bryce. She recalled Zora was there but she doesn't remember anything after. She just filled in the blanks with what Bryce said. They were attacked on the way.
"There are two of us here. Someone needs to go take care of the apartment," Bryce said trying to drive Zora away.
Zora got the memo and said goodbye to Angela with a promise to visit the next day after work. Martin left to take care of things in Bryce's absence.
Bryce spent some time chatting with Bryce. Angela was back to her old self recognizing Bryce as her boss and hence very careful with what she said.
The hospital brought some food and after eating, Bryce asked Angela to get some rest. He went into his email and started sending emails around, instructing everyone what they needed to do. The company has just launched itself with the new branding. He knew he would stay in the hospital for a while.
Bernard, we have a new employee coming in. Zora will be handling this employee. I want this employee under 24/7 surveillance but do it discreetly. I have reason to believe this employee is going to be a mole. Keep this between us and report anything you see or hear.
Bryce typed it and sent it to Bernard. Bernard quickly replied acknowledging the recipient of the message and a promise to do as instructed.
The next day, at Bryce's apartment, Zora freshened up and was getting ready for work. She knew she was going to see Elorm at the office. She had already prepared all the necessary documents and had assigned a role to Elorm. He would be handling minor office tasks because of his condition.
Zora stared at herself in the mirror after dressing up in a fine grey office straight dress. She stood on a six-inch heel and her hair was neatly wrapped and a small pair of earrings completed her dressing with a matching necklace. She recalled everything she had found out at the hospital about Elorm's health. He lied to her about the news, and also his health just to get close to her and harm Angela. The thoughts ran through Zora's head as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. Bryce's words echoed in her mind. She took a step towards the exit carrying her black bag which matched her shoes and was soon in the hallway. Martin also stepped out of his room at the same time finely dressed in a black tuxedo. He looked very handsome with his neatly styled hair. Zora stared at him briefly before lowering her head and hanging her bag on her arms.
Martin locked eyes with her briefly before looking away himself and taking long strides towards the exit. He walked past Zora and got to the staircase before her. Zora finally descended the staircase and ran into one of the servants. It appeared she was coming to call her for breakfast.
"Ma'am, breakfast is ready," the servant informed her and Zora stretched her neck like she could see the dining area from where she stood.
"Is Martin in the dining room?" Zora asked with no luck of seeing the dining room from where she stood.
"Yes, ma'am," the servant replied and Zora just nodded.
"Thank you," Zora appreciated and the servant left.
Zora couldn't bring herself to face Martin after everything that happened at the hospital and her behaviour towards him. She had agreed to be his woman, yet she allowed Elorm to kiss her and even touched her intimately.
She walked out the front door without having breakfast. Outside, she fetched her phone from her bag and requested an Uber to the office.
Martin finished his breakfast and made a call to someone.
"Keep an eye on him. His name is Elorm. I want to know everything he does. I have made the payment into your account," Martin said to the person and ended the call.
He stood up from behind the dining table and headed for the exit. Outside he was surprised Zora was not there.
"Where is Zora?" he asked one of the guards standing by the car.
"She left in an Uber," the guard replied.
Martin said nothing but got behind the wheel. He drove out of the compound toward Diamond Corporation, now PEG Industries. When he arrived he checked and Zora was already in the office. He also found out if the new employee had arrived and he was told he had.
"Hmm, so she came in early, skipping breakfast just to see him," Martin thought and walked towards the elevator.
He was soon upstairs on the sixth floor. He walked into Bernard's office.
"Hello Bernard," Martin greeted.
"Hello Martin," Bernard greeted.
"I am supposed to help with the security system," Martin said with a smile but he was also there to monitor Elorm.
"Okay," Bernard said and offered Martin a seat.
Back in Zora's office, Zora was done walking Elorm through everything he was supposed to know as far as the company was concerned and his role.
"So where will my office be?" Elorm asked smiling.
The room before my office will be your office. Kindly see Bernard, he will give you your working tools and you can start," Zora said.
"Thank you. This means a lot to me," Elorm said. "I hope you are okay. You don't have your normal vibe?" he asked showing concern.
"I am good. Yesterday, my friend Angela was attacked. I don't know who wants to harm her again. I feel it's my fault for leaving her alone in the ward. At least I could have asked you to wait a while," Zora said sounding sad.
"Angela was attacked?" Elorm exclaimed. "When? How? Where? Is she okay,?" he asked multiple questions at the same time with an expression of worry.
"I think after you left. I kept too long in the washroom," Zora replied sounding sad.
"How is she now?" Elorm asked and Zora stared at him.
Elorm had an expression of concern plastered on his face. Zora could not believe he could lie and fake real concern.
"I don't know. Yesterday when I left, we were not allowed to see her. I understand we can't see her," Zora said showing her sadness but she was paying attention to Elorm.
"I am so sorry. She will be fine," Elorm said with concern.
"I pray for some good news," Zora said and dismissed Elorm after a while.
Elorm went for his laptop and a sim card from Bernard as instructed and walked into his office. He scanned the environment and he didn't see anything off. He entered the washroom and called Ivan Davis.
"Hello boss, I am in, and everything is going according to plan. From what I gathered, Angela is in a critical condition. We are now left with Bryce," Elorm said.
"Good, keep your head down and report everything that happens in the company to me. Most importantly, get me the company documents. As soon as we have Bryce, we will take over the company," Ivan said.
"Yes, boss," Elorm replied unaware there was a listening device under the water closet's tank.
Bernard was in his office when his monitoring device picked up Elorm's conversation. He recorded everything.
