POV Unknown Shadow Beast
Such cheap thrills.
Never would I have imagined feeling this childish thrill of joy again. The moment was perfect, and everything clicked into place instantly. Both the human and the wolf vanished; they faded back into the darkness, leaving me in complete control. For the first time in a long while, it was just me!
Nothing is holding me back, no doubting morals questioning my every move, no inept human flesh suit holding back my strength and form. Energi, rage, and pain exploded as my true form finally broke free. Finally, I could feel at home again, feel like myself again! Still in need of a flesh form, we decided to keep the wolf, well, the parts of her that could handle my transformation, that is. Her skin broke, and patches of bloody fur fell off in chunks as we made our way across the open field.
It didn’t matter, it would not make any difference, and most importantly, it would not affect me or my little outing in any way. This wolf’s body is temporary, despite these beasts flaunting their strengths and boasting about their powers, but they can’t even hold my spirit without dissolving. Pitiful.
No shame. These creatures are seen as superior here, but really, they're just glorified wild dogs.
All these inconveniences aside, this was just a test run. A little taste of what to come, a little peek of the light at the end of the tunnel for my part!
My claws pushed through the wolf’s paws, and the pain sent shivers down my spine as the back of the wolf’s skull cracked. But I wished the pain welcome! Heck, I almost moaned as the crippling sensation stunned all muscles across my chest. I've missed this feeling, missed the transition, and missed this form. It was worth it; everything else was worth it. Short-lived and somewhat crippled, it was all worth it.
The air felt heavy and crisp, thick with fog, and it almost felt poetic. So calm, so classically perfect view of an ideal day, and I could nearly see it when the first blood-curdling scream cut right through. The picturesque promise of a perfect day was shattered in an instant-the perfect second.
Screams filled my heart like a long-lost lullaby. Rage, fear, pain, and death-each had its own scream, sound, and feel. They all worked perfectly together, howling in despair, beautifully accompanied by the low, hoarse sound of the last breath. The breath of death, quiet and subtle in all its haunting glory, as life fades-rasping and clawing at the raw flesh inside someone’s throat. A living being's final fight to keep breathing, to keep living despite the apparent defeat.
Thick and sweet, the smell of blood covered the little field. The scent is overwhelming and undeniable, demanding and powerful. But the real magic of it all is the color. As powerful and demanding as the smell, so unmistakable and strong. Small stains spread across a tent, direct splatter, and spray-painting of the field and nearby trees. Chunks of meat, skin, hair, and brain tissue, it was all a statement on its own. However, together, they displayed a painting worthy of the gods’ gaze. Nobody, human or beast, died a shameful death today.
They died like warriors, died to paint the perfect war zone, they died for me!
Their pain, screams, blood, and torn flesh feed my powers, boosting my strengths. And when we're being honest, they gave me a little something to live for. Their sacrifices gave me a little ray of light in my dark existence! This little happening almost brought a smile to my face, and at least their boring, unfulfilling lives had some meaning.
I think that makes a difference for them, at least it should!
The whole ordeal was over just as it started-well, that’s how it felt, and I was once again reminded of how ungrateful and narrow-minded these humans are. I was not ready-far from it-but I was exhausted. There was nothing left, and in great shame, I had to accept the sad truth: I’m not strong enough. Not yet. So, I gave it one last test run, and what a run it was!
I gave up with a smile, leaned back as the flesh form around me began to shrink back -well, it tried, at least - as my presence pulled back. But for the moment, I am fulfilled.
Satisfied actually! I could hear the screams in the back of my mind, remember the heavy sensation and smell of the air. The feeling of claws and canines tear through flesh, skin, and bones. I knew I didn’t leave anyone, I knew nobody was forgotten, and I took great pride in knowing I let them all die together. No warrior would leave a brother behind. I gave them that! Me! Slowly, I pulled back, all these things I wanted to tell them, but I no longer had a voice. I just watched that girl’s face as the human girl and wolf switched places with me.
So engrossed in my own world, I didn’t see them coming, nor did I hear them before the massive silver cage was slammed down around me. The air was thick with the sickening smell of silver and wolfbane, but I was finished. My mission was over, for now. Satisfied, I left them with a bemused laugh. Silver and wolfsbane-what do they think I am? Stupidity. Wolfsbane is just disgusting, like raisins you thought were chocolate chips in a fresh cookie. But that’s all it is-disgusting and nothing like a cookie, or close to me for that matter. The air filled with cheers as my last shadow strands let go, celebrating their victory! For once, this made me feel giddy. Excited even. They think they've won; they believe they've found my Achilles' heel! It will make my resurrection so much better, so much more savior-worthy.
Laugh and celebrate tiny humans, lower your guards, and open your arms for your end, weak creatures.
Enjoy doomed pets.
Your time is borrowed, and it is high time you pay your debt.
This will be my time!
I will be back.
I have so much to say.
I have a lot to do.
Don't worry, girl. I'll return and help restore your spirit.
You, human girl, know as well as I that you do not belong here!
