Chapter Forty-Three
Havermouth, Five Years Before
They ran through the school, pursued with a sort of frantic madness, before dividing between Heath’s car and Cameron’s, pulling out of the school parking lot in a burn of smoking tires, as if they were being chased in a movie. Aislen pressed back in the passenger seat of Heath’s car, her laugh wild and wicked, and exchanged grins with him as they pulled out onto the main road.
“We’ll beat them to your house,” he said. “Do you think we can beat them to the river house?”
“I don’t know…” She admitted. “There’re things that I will need to pack…”
“Toothbrush, change of underwear, change of clothes,” he changed gear, his eyes flicking to the rear view. “Prepare to run.”
“What about…” Her mind scattered. “Food… and…”
“We have all that.”
Tiffany and Patrick would be at work. She could throw together a bag and be gone… and just not return until Sunday, she admitted to herself. If they even noticed that she wasn’t there, what could they do about it?
“Okay.”
“Prepare to run,” he said, as they reached her street. “I’ll delay them for as long as I can.”
As he pulled into the driveway in a spray of gravel, she threw herself out of the car, stumbling as she hit the lawn. She ran to the front door as Cameron pulled up behind Heath, and saw Heath get out to talk to the other two, gesturing.
She fumbled the lock, before gaining entry and running to her room. She stuffed a bag with clothes and underwear, and her pills, before running to the bathroom and shoving in anything that she could think that she might need.
She ran for the front door, and almost broke the key off in the lock as she ran back to Heath’s car, just as Cameron reversed.
She slid into the passenger seat breathlessly, throwing the bag into the backseat.
“Alcohol,” Heath told her, reversing in pursuit of Cameron. “What do you drink?”
Her mind wiped. What did she drink? She had no idea. “Oh, whatever,” she said helplessly.
His tires squealed as he pulled left when Cameron turned right, heading to different drive-through bottle shops, she realized, as she gripped the seat. Heath pulled into the drive-through and wound down his window. “Whatever you have on special in red and white,” he said to the guy that came to the window. “Six of each. Some of that…” He pointed through the window. “And that. A carton of smokes… and…?” He looked at Aislen who swallowed as the true evidence of her lack of experience was exposed. “Some of the sweet shots. Yeah, they’ll do,” he decided, answering for her.
He swiped his card with the confidence of someone who had never had to check his account balance. And, of course, the transaction cleared. Heath didn’t even blink, pulling out onto the street again and tearing down it, easily going twenty kilometers over the speed limit.
“Heath,” she gripped the seat. “You should… go slower. A kid might run out.”
He laughed.
She braced into the seat as they flew through the streets at speeds she was certain were impossible.
“Relax,” he told her. “You don’t want them to win, do you?”
“I… just want to live and not to kill… anyone else,” she confessed through her teeth.
He found that hilarious, but she relaxed as he turned off the main road down the dirt road towards the house, and reduced speed in compensation for the state of the road. He pulled up just in front of the fire pit, to the side of the balcony and shut off the engine.
“Come on then,” he said to her as he got out of the car.
There was none of the formality that he normally adhered to. She let herself out of the car as he reached into the back seat for her bag. She saw Cameron’s Ute kicking up dust as it bounced towards them.
Heath took out the alcohol from the boot and slid it onto the deck of the river house.
Rhett and Cameron spilled out the Ute, laughing. They began to throw things from the Ute onto the balcony, at the same time as Heath unpacked the car, using Aislen as a courier from car to deck. She carried alcohol, bottled water, clothing…
“So, what did Mr. Owens call you into his office for?” Rhett asked.
“I left my school bag in the house last night,” she said.
“Something which shouldn’t have been as funny as it apparently was,” Heath commented dryly.
“That was because of whatever was in those scones,” she accused.
“Who me?” Cameron batted his eyes innocently. “Want some more?” He added with a grin.
“I am in so much trouble on Monday,” Aislen moaned, the buzz wearing off and the cold reality of what she had done sinking in.
“It will be fine,” Rhett assured her. “Owens can’t do anything to you because…”
“What else did Mr. Owens say?” Heath interrupted whatever Rhett had been about to say. “You were in there for a while.”
“Just about the scholarship that Mr. Graynor wants me to apply for,” she told him with a shrug. “And how I’d need good grades and regular attendance if I want the school to use the Zeus Forest Works donation to supplement the cost of going there.”
“Hmm,” Heath’s lip curled in anger, and she saw the Triquetra exchange looks.
“What?” She asked, looking between the three of them. “It’s not like after ditching school today and bailing from his office like I did that there is any chance I’d be considered now.”
“Let’s have a swim,” Cameron decided, pulling off his shirt and reaching out to tug Aislen towards him. She saw a flash of them fucking in the water and her body heated under the suggestion.
Cameron’s eyes lit up when she didn’t resist, and he leaned over her until their foreheads touched as he began to undo the buttons of her top, his breathing becoming heavy with lust, his thoughts swirling with erotic intentions.
Behind him, Rhett opened a window from inside the house and Heath passed the items from the balcony in.
Cameron peeled Aislen’s shirt from her. “No more of this now,” he said, dropping it to the ground with his t-shirt. “No more clothes this weekend, Aislen. We’re going to fuck, and fuck, and…” He eased her skirt to the ground. “Fuck some more.”
“And do homework,” Heath said, collecting the clothing from the floor and throwing it onto the balcony. “Rhett and Aislen have a project due, and I have a test next week.”
“And do homework just doesn’t sound sexy at all,” Cameron complained.
“We’ll do the homework naked,” Heath said. He pressed his lips to the back of Cameron’s bare shoulder as he stroked his hands over Cameron’s tight stomach and released the fly of his trousers. He sent Cameron’s trousers and underwear sliding down his thighs, and grasped Cameron’s cock.
Aislen watched breathless as Heath cupped and rolled Cameron’s balls with one hand and squeezed his cock with the other, whilst sucking along the line of Cameron’s shoulder and up the back of his neck. Heath’s eyes met hers as Cameron moaned and leaned his head to the side, giving Heath free access up the side of his neck.
“Well, Aislen?” Heath asked softly. “Cameron’s horny and wants to get off. Are you going to touch him, or just stare at him?”
