Not only did I smell this most pleasant Lycan scent, which made my entire body shiver with a very sweet sensation waving through me from the inside.
I spun around sharply, and all I was able to see was his gold wavy hair that just swayed through the air in a swift way. His speed was so extreme that I couldn't see his face before he swooze past the door and out of my room, shutting it back as it was.
I left the bed and made to run after him, but couldn't take three steps forward before Nana walked into the room in a flurry of activity as her eyes wandered around. She looked so pained and scared.
My feet gummed at one point as I followed her with my eyes as she darted her gaze around the room.
"Where is he?" She asked, and my brows arched in confusion, unable to comprehend what she was asking about.
She stopped looking around and faced me with eyes bloodshot with anger.
"He came here, right?!" She yelled at me, and I got even more confused.
"Who?" I managed to mumble as it was hard to understand what was making her this furious.
"The Lycan prince came here!!" She yelled again, slapping me so hard that my neck snapped to the side, sending a hot sensation all over my face. The slap was so painful, but I vowed not to cry over it.
"You locked this door and caged me here. When you walked in here, it was locked. So what are you saying?" I fumed, rubbing my burning cheek. I should be so angry that she hit me, but not a single ounce of anger could slip in as so much happiness filled my heart on realizing what had just happened.
The man I saw leaving the room was Prince Jaden. I was locked here, but he snuck over to see me. Even though I was unable to see him, he saw me instead. He stood a few minutes behind me, staring at me only. This couldn't stop making my heart race in excitement.
I never know what mates' bond feels like, but I must say I felt something deeper when that lycan smell oozed into my nostrils. It was like a soothing balm to my soul. I felt inner peace and protection around that smell.
"Ava!!!" The scream of Nana made me cringe back to reality, as I was already lost in my thoughts of him.
"What were you thinking?!" She bellowed, peering into my eyes with so much envy that could raze down a building if they were to be fire. There was this fear and intimidation in her eyes that gave me so much joy.
"I wasn't thinking of anything." That was all I could fumble on seeing that she was really waiting for a reply.
"He came here and left before I could get him. Wow, what could have happened?" She mused, gritting her teeth in anger.
"I thought you kept guards outside to prevent me from going out. Go ask them if anyone came in here "
"They said no one came in here, but I don't believe those weaklings! He came here!" She bawled, kicking the table in exasperation as she glared at me so hard that I felt like she would gun me down with those eyes.
"Why do you think so? And what really happened? Is he leaving you in the palace to come up here for me? Wait, you mean, your boyfriend left you and came searching for me?.." I snickered, saying each word with heavy sarcasm and mockery, and that really made her cheeks flush pure red in shame.
"What do..you..mean?"
Her voice was suddenly cracked as she asked the question.
"You know what I mean. How could you think he came here to see me after claiming him as your boyfriend. Stop being insecure, it makes you disgusting." I scoffed, and another slap from her lashed across my other cheek.
Hot tears formed in my eyes, but I never let them fall as I stared straight into her face, which was all red as if she was the one slapped.
"He will never come to see you, bitch!" She snorted in shame, hurrying out of the room like one who was being chased. I knew my words made her realize how entirely stupid she had been.
But it was all true.
Prince Jaden had left her there in the palace and came here to meet me. And what were those feelings his presence had triggered in me? Could we be mates?
Could our mate bond be the force driving us together at all cost? Or God, why couldn't I see his face? That gold hair looked so celestial and flew over the air like he was an angel.
He must have left because he senses Nana coming. And those guards didn't see him come in? How? What really happened?
Jaden's POV
"You saw her?" That was the first question from Carl through mind link the moment I walked back into the palace, but I couldn't reply to him, so he wouldn't notice how my heart was racing.
"Are you done using the restroom?" The Alpha smiled at me, but I could only scoff.
"I am leaving." That was all I bluntly said in reply before turning and leaving just the way I had walked in. Carl left his chair, bowed to the Alpha, and followed me behind.
"Won't you wait a little longer for my daughter to return and escort you out?" I heard what the Alpha said to Carl, and it forced out a deep grunt of anger inside me.
"Carl, if you dare agree to that, you are a goner!" Without looking back, I issued a warning via mind link.
"We are sorry, not today. The prince is eager leave." Carl responded to him and scurried off, running to catch up with me.
Just as I got to the porch ready to leave, Carl asked his first question again, and I had to take several deep breaths before I could answer.
"I saw her. I saw that pretty girl with exquisite brunette hair and a nice body." My response came without my brain thinking about what I was saying.
"Wow, did you just say all this?" Carl exclaimed in shock and my lips curled into a smile, which was absolutely a reflex action as I couldn't tell I was smiling till Carl said it.
My heart was void of anger at that moment just because I was thinking of her and what her smell did to my body.
"Carl, thanks for that idea of using the restroom, which you tipped me. It just made me see her." I shrugged and was about to enter the car when someone screamed my name, running over.
I turned and hissed, seeing it was Nana.
"You are leaving without a goodbye..." Her whining voice came in as she finally got close to me. She was giving me some kind of seductive stare that was really pissing me off.
"It isn't a must, and maybe I could have said it to you if you kept your butt in the palace. Why did you leave the palace? Were you looking for me?" I sneered, feeling the rush of anger again.
If she hadn't headed up to that room, I would have gotten the opportunity to see Ava's face, hear her voice, and even touch her. She just came and ruined everything in the blink of an eye. Seeing her stand in front of me now made me feel that urge to choke her to death.
"No, I also went to the restroom. You know, ladies take more time in there than men, because we are washing a lot of holes." She winked and let out a short laugh, making me wonder what was funny about the rubbish she said.
"Then why are you here?" I asked sharply, wishing I had come with guards. I'd use Mind-Link to order them to drag her away from me while pretending I didn't know anything.
"You seem to hate me so much. What did I do wrong? Didn't you enjoy my meal? I can do anything for you." She stuttered, looking down at the ground shyly.
"I need nothing. Now can you let me go?" I snapped.
"What about Ava?" She asked, and my body shuddered a bit, forcing me to look up at her sharply. I was sure my eyes must be glistening now as I pondered on what she just asked.
She just got it right. I needed Ava somehow, and it seemed she knew it too.
"Don't fall for her trap!" Carl tipped in at me through the mind link.
"I knew Ava when the Alpha talked about her on his visit to my kingdom. The wolfsbane and silver mixture were for her because of the deaths caused by her birth. How will I want someone like that? Are you playing with me?" I growled, clenching my fist.
I could see her sigh in relief.
"I am sorry, I was just joking... Ava is the dirtiest and most disgusting girl in this pack. I was just teasing you by asking if you wanted her, knowing no one would want a pig like her, even as a slave." She scorned Ava, and I shrugged, turning over to my car.
It was becoming more and more annoying to stand and talk with this foolish girl who thought the world was under her feet.
"Carl, let's get out of here." I ordered, opening the car, but she went ahead and grabbed my hand, which was what I deeply hated.
Before I could hold myself back, my heavy palm had already lashed both of her cheeks, almost at the same time. She lost balance and fell, bursting into a loud cry, but I wasn't moved at all.
"Never touch me." I warned and entered the car, slamming the door in anger while Carl drove off. He swerved, and we were almost out of the gate when I darted my gaze back through the rear glass, looking at where Nana was, only to see Ava helping her up from the ground.
The sight of Ava made all anger vanish from me instantly, and I really felt like telling Carl to stop the car.
Gosh, why did she come out after I was gone?
