The Highest Bidder

Chapter 10

Ch. 10 / 30 Mar 24, 2026

The trembling won't stop.

I lie between Cole and Blaine, my body still humming with aftershocks, and every nerve ending feels like it's been rewired.

Cole's hand traces lazy patterns across my chest while Blaine's breath warms the back of my neck, and I'm trying to remember how to exist inside skin that suddenly feels too sensitive for the world.

"You're thinking too loud," Blaine murmurs against my shoulder. "I can practically hear the gears grinding in that beautiful head of yours."

"I'm trying to process what just happened," I admit, my voice raw from sounds I didn't know I could make. "I spent twenty-six years convincing myself this would destroy me, and instead I feel more whole than I've ever felt in my life."

"That's because shame is a cage, not a protection."

Cole shifts closer, his lips brushing my temple.

"You've been living in a prison built by people who never deserved the power to define you, and tonight you finally found the key."

The door opens.

I feel the shift in the room before I see him—the way Cole's touch becomes intentional rather than idle, the way Blaine's body tenses with anticipation against my back.

Then Asher steps into the doorway, and everything else disappears.

He's removed his sweater. The white undershirt beneath clings to shoulders I've tried not to notice for weeks, and those frozen-steel eyes track across my naked body with an intensity that makes my breath catch.

He's been watching, I realize. Waiting somewhere beyond these walls while his brothers took me apart, exercising a patience that now visibly strains at its limits.

"How is he?"

Asher's question is directed at Cole, but his gaze never leaves my face.

"Perfect."

Cole's hand stills on my chest.

"Responsive beyond anything we imagined, and brave in ways he doesn't even recognize yet. He's ready for you, Ash, but only if he says so."

"Ethan."

Asher's voice drops, and the sound of my name in his mouth sends electricity cascading down my spine.

Do you want this to continue, or do you need time to recover from what you've already experienced?"

"I don't need time."

The words come out steadier than I expect, fueled by a hunger I'm only beginning to understand.

"I need to know why you waited, why you let them go first when you could have had me any time you wanted."

Something shifts in his expression—a crack in the ice, revealing fire beneath.

"Because you weren't ready for me."

He moves closer, each step deliberate, predatory.

"What Cole and Blaine gave you was an introduction. What I want to give you requires foundation, Ethan. It requires you to understand that you're worth taking, worth claiming, worth the patience I've exercised since the moment you crashed into my brother covered in coffee and terror."

Blaine sits up beside me, and I feel smooth metal slide onto my finger—metal, smooth, weighted with significance.

I look down to find a silver ring circling my left hand, the band catching firelight like captured starlight.

"Your gift," Blaine murmurs, his amber eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "So you remember that whatever happens after tonight, you belong somewhere now. You belong to someone."

"Three someones," Cole adds, pressing a kiss to my shoulder. "But Asher's claim runs deepest, Ethan. He saw you first, wanted you first, and he's been patient longer than either of us could have managed."

The ring feels impossibly heavy on my finger—an anchor, a brand, a promise I don't fully understand yet.

"Do you actually want me?"

The question escapes before I can stop it, vulnerability bleeding through every syllable.

"Not as a transaction, not as an acquisition, but as a person you genuinely desire? Because I need to know this isn't just about winning or conquering or proving something to yourselves."

Asher's control shatters.

He crosses the remaining distance in two strides, his hand fisting in my hair as he drags my mouth to his, and the kiss is nothing like Cole's gentleness—it's possession, pure and devastating, decades of restraint snapping at once.

His tongue claims mine with the same precision he brings to everything, mapping and memorizing and making clear that what he takes, he keeps.

I whimper against his lips, and he swallows the sound like it's sustenance.

"I have wanted you," he growls against my mouth, "since the first moment I saw you. I have watched you bend but never break under Hargrove's cruelty. I have memorized every expression that crosses your face when you think no one is paying attention. I have catalogued the exact shade of pink your ears turn when you're embarrassed and the way your hands shake when you're fighting not to feel something. Do not ever question whether I want you, Ethan. The answer is written in every cell of my body."

He lifts me from the bed like I weigh nothing, carrying me to the center of the mattress while Cole and Blaine arrange themselves on either side—an audience, yes, but also participants, their hands reaching to touch and worship as Asher positions himself above me.

"Tell me you understand what's happening here."

Asher's eyes bore into mine, demanding honesty I've never been brave enough to offer.

"Tell me you know this isn't a transaction anymore, that the money was just an excuse to give you permission to take what you already wanted."

"I understand."

My voice breaks on the second word.

"I understand that I've been terrified of my own desires for so long that I needed a reason beyond wanting, and you gave me one. But I'm here now because I choose to be, Asher. Not because of the auction, not because of my father's surgery, but because when you look at me, I finally feel like something worth looking at."

He takes me apart with terrifying precision.

Where Cole was gentle and Blaine was passionate, Asher is methodical—building sensation upon sensation until I'm writhing beneath him, begging for release he denies me until I understand that surrender isn't weakness.

His brothers' hands move across my skin, Cole whispering praise against my ear while Blaine claims my mouth, and I'm drowning in the weight of attention coming from three men who have chosen me with the full force of their considerable will.

When Asher finally enters me, the fullness is different—sharper, more demanding, every thrust a declaration of ownership that my body answers with instinct older than thought.

He moves inside me like he's trying to reach something essential, the part of me I've kept locked away since I was fifteen years old, and when he finds it, the orgasm that crashes through me destroys everything I thought I knew about pleasure.

Afterwards, he holds me against his chest while I sob—not from pain, but from the sheer relief of finally being seen.

His lips brush against my temple, my cheekbone, the curve of my jaw.

"Mine," he whispers against my skin, the word barely audible.

I don't flinch.

For the first time in my life, I believe it.
