The Heiress Strikes Back

Chapter 59

Ch. 59 / 60 Jun 16, 2025

A Honeymoon to Remember

The engines of Demitri's private jet roared smoothly as the sleek, luxurious aircraft sliced through the skies.

Beside him, Ashley leaned back in her seat, her smile as radiant as the sun that poured through the windows. The honeymoon had just begun, and already, the world felt like it belonged to them.

Demitri turned to her with a playful glint in his eye. "So, Mrs.Vasiliev,” said, his voice teasing. "How does it feel to be married to me?"

Ashley laughed, the sound light and full of joy. "Honestly? Feels like a dream," she replied, her eyes sparkling. "But I suppose it’s only fitting that my dream husband would whisk me away on a jet to a private island. This is all so surreal."

"We deserve this," Demitri said, his tone softening as he reached for her hand. "After everything we've been through, we deserve to start our new life in peace, away from the world’s chaos."

Ashley squeezed his hand, feeling the warmth of their connection. "You’re right. It feels like we're in our own little bubble. Just you and me."

Demitri grinned, then leaned in closer, brushing his lips against hers in a tender kiss. "Forever, just you and me," he whispered before pulling back slightly to study her face, as if memorizing every detail.

Ashley smiled, her heart full. "And our little one," she added softly, placing a hand on her stomach.

His smile deepened, his gaze flicking down to her hand before looking back at her. "Of course. Our little one."

They spent the next few hours talking, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company.

"I need to use the restroom," she said, standing up and glancing toward the back of the jet. "I'll be right back."

Demitri nodded. "I'll be right here."

As she walked toward the bathroom, Demitri leaned back in his seat, content for the moment. The hum of the jet was peaceful, and the distant view of clouds painted in pink and gold made everything feel perfect.

Suddenly, his peace was shattered by a loud scream. His heart raced in an instant. "Ashley?" he called, leaping from his seat.

Without waiting for an answer, Demitri rushed toward the back of the jet, his stomach tightening with fear. He burst into the small restroom to find Ashley standing there, wide-eyed and frozen, staring down at her legs.

"What happened?" Demitri demanded, his voice laced with panic.

Ashley looked up at him, her face pale. "I—I'm not sure. There’s blood."

Demitri’s stomach dropped. Without a second thought, he rushed to her side, his arms wrapping around her as he carefully lifted her into his arms. "It’s okay, Ashley," he murmured, trying to calm his racing heart. "Let’s get you to bed."

He gently laid her down on the plush bedding, his eyes scanning her face for any sign of pain or distress. "What’s going on, babe? What happened?"

Ashley looked up at him, her hands trembling. "I—I saw the blood. It was just a little, but it scared me. I didn’t know what it meant."

Demitri’s mind was spinning, but he forced himself to stay calm. He quickly grabbed his phone and dialed the family doctor’s number, knowing they could trust him in times of uncertainty.

The doctor answered quickly, his calm voice instantly putting Demitri somewhat at ease. "Mr. Vasiliev?"

"My wife’s bleeding," Demitri said urgently, his grip tightening around Ashley’s hand. "She’s pregnant, and she’s freaking out. What do we do?"

The doctor’s voice remained steady, a reassuring presence. "It’s normal for some spotting to occur during pregnancy, especially as you move into the second or third trimester. Ashley, you’re okay. It’s probably just a blood show, a sign that the body is preparing for the next stage of pregnancy."

Ashley let out a shaky breath, her eyes meeting Demitri’s with a look of relief mixed with lingering fear. "Are you sure?" she asked quietly.

The doctor gave a small chuckle. "I’m sure, Ashley. If you’re not in pain, and there’s no heavy bleeding, you don’t need to worry. It’s just part of the process. Just take it easy for the next few days, and rest. And call me if anything changes."

"Thank you," Demitri said, his voice a little hoarse. "We needed that reassurance."

The doctor’s voice softened. "Anytime. Take care, you two."

As the call ended, Demitri let out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. He turned back to Ashley, his hands gently cupping her face. "I’m so sorry you had to go through that, Ashley. I was so scared."

"I was scared too," Ashley admitted, her eyes filled with emotion. "I didn’t know what was happening."

Demitri kissed her forehead softly. "We’re both okay. The doctor said it’s nothing to worry about."

Ashley looked up at him, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Still, it was terrifying."

"I know," Demitri said, his voice soft and tender. "But we’ll face everything together. Every scary moment, every joyful one. Always together."

Ashley’s heart melted at his words. She reached up, pressing a finger gently to his lips. "When will you stop calling me Ashley?"

Demitri looked at her, confused.

"I’m Emerald now," she said with a playful smile, her eyes sparkling. "Emerald Donaldson is my real name."

Demitri chuckled, a deep, warm laugh that made her heart flutter. He leaned down, kissing her gently. "I will always call you Ashley. To the world, you are Emerald Donaldson, but to me... you will always be my Ashley."

Ashley Vasiliev.
