The Alpha's Accidental Mate

Chapter 16

Ch. 16 / 52 Feb 20, 2025

 William

I'm looking through assignments when the knock on my door comes. I lift my eyes to the source, narrowing my gaze when I meet Josh's ugly mug in my window. He isn't alone; Alex and Teagan are behind him.

Rolling my eyes, I motion for them to enter. "Come on in."

Josh is the first to walk in, and a growl leaves his lips the second he meets my gaze. The idiot isn't one bit classy. He slams down his hands on my table, making papers fly.

Perfect.

I raise a questioning eyebrow and resist the urge to beat the crap out of him for creating a scene. Not a second later, the football star is raising his voice at me and sputtering unimportant shit.

"YOU HAVE RIDICULED US!" Josh is spitting in my face. "OUR PACK MEMBERS LAUGHED WHEN THEY HEARD WE GOT BEATEN BY THE ALPHA WITH THE SMALLEST PACK IN THE CITY!"

An alpha's power grows with his pack, but I'm a half-fairy—sadly, there doesn't seem to be an end to my powers. It's a curse since I can't control my inner rage and the bloodthirst.

"And what am I supposed to do about that, huh?" I ask, looking him up at down with a smirk. "You're lucky I'm not beating you right now for placing your hands on my mate."

Josh narrows his eyes. "I want a rematch after school. You and I will face each other on equal terms."

"Oh?" I laugh darkly. "Are you sure that's a good idea?"

"Magic won't be allowed!" Josh growls. "Wolf against wolf—none of those fairy crap abilities!"

"Sure," I hand him a stretch of a smile. "Was there anything else?"

"No. I'm done here." Josh mutters and heads for the door.

Josh's lackeys follow him with their noses in the air. What a bunch of drama queens.

I sigh and return to my assignments. My eyes focus on the papers for many hours, and once school is over, I lock up the classroom. The sun is setting, and I walk down the corridor past many windows.

Josh is probably waiting for me outside. My hands push open the door, and my eyes darken. I expected to face Josh in a duel, but I didn't expect to be surrounded by about fifty wolves from the Crescent pack.

"How lovely; you brought your entire clan," I comment when I spot Josh. His hands are tucked into his jacket, smirking at me.

"I thought this would be fair," Josh smiles at his fellow pack members. They all growl and howl, not even caring that they are in the middle of the freaking city.

"You realize humans you see you, right? And supernaturals are supposed to keep our existence a secret to them."

"I don't care," Josh shrugs. "Beating you is more important."

"I see."

I take off my suit, about to fold it on the ground when I'm jumped by the mutts. A wolf grabs it and shakes its head, trying to make me release the fabric, which I do as soon as I'm attacked by another wolf.

Blood splashes onto the ground, and my vision darkens. Teeth, growls, laughter, and more wolves. I try to channel my wolf—victory is in my veins, and I wish to transform.

But as I'm hit with another attack, my anger rises. The fairy blood is activating, and I realize I have to hold it back. I can't depend on my fairy blood. It's unable.

"What's the matter, alpha?" Josh shows me his teeth in a cruel smile and stretches out his arms as he inhales. "What is that? Oh, it's the smell of your loss and the future death of your mate!"

He is threatening Riley now?

Josh continues talking. "I can't wait to put my hands on Riley."

More blood drips.

"Perhaps I should fuck her too? Riley isn't half-bad if you're into fucking trash women. She will make a great enslaved breeder."

That's the last straw.

I lose control, and my shoulders and limbs crack as wings spread out from my back. My visions darken, and my skin receives an ethereal glow. My ears are tingling, probably turning point, while my body becomes more muscular.

But while fairies are beautiful, they aren't angelic creatures.

No. Fairies are ancient murderers that feast on human flesh. It's as if the blood in my veins is replaced by rage and a thirst to kill.

Two sharp canine teeth draw blood from my chin, and I shoot in height while my fury unleashes. Most wolves are hesitating now, whimpering while taking me in.

"What's the matter?" I tilt my head, laughing when my voice doesn't come out as my own. It sounds demonic, and I love the power fuelling my soul. "Have you never seen a fairy before?"

Josh grits his teeth. "Attack him! It's one against fifty!"

The werewolves snarl and I laugh when I grab the first courageous one around the throat. "What a cute little wolf," I say. "Is this the first time you're fighting against a giant fairy?"

The wolf's eyes fill with fear, and I snap their neck and throw them away like yesterday's trash. It's incredible. I'm so powerful, more enormous than these wolves, and ready to kill them.

Why didn't I accept the fairy blood earlier?!

I love this so much!

Maniacal laughter leaves my lips, and I grab another with lightning speed, tearing through their skin with my claws. I'm moving with the wind, killing one after one before I'm jumped by ten of them.

I grimace and glare down at the wolf that must be Josh. He is biting my thighs, sinking his teeth into my skin. It allows the other wolves to crunch and chew on my other body parts.

Fuck, how do I win against an entire pack of werewolves? I need more power, but I haven't eaten human flesh yet! I should sink my teeth into one of them and get a mouthful.

No!

What am I thinking?!

I'm not a cannibal!

But it hurts! They are biting into my skin, and I don't know what to do—it's a losing battle! With the help of my magic, I throw eight of them into the school brick wall. They whimper as I crack their ribs, but it isn't enough to stop the other wolves from jumping at me.

There is no end to them!

More angry wolves are popping up from behind the corner, and I snarl and hiss at them. This is fucking insane! I knew the Crescent pack was big, but really?

I snap the neck of a few more of them and fight until my blood is boiling and sweat is covering my skin. A scream meant to frighten my enemies erupt from my mouth, and then I'm slashing through more wolves.

I don't know how long I keep going. Dead werewolf bodies are around my feet. It amuses me. Death wouldn't usually make me smile, but I'm losing my mind because my fairy blood won't stop screaming for blood.

I'm trying to suppress it, but my fairy needs the flesh to survive and thrive. I will fall unconscious on the ground if this battle goes on any longer; I can barely control myself anymore.

My eyes travel to Josh. He is snarling at me, this angry, giant grey wolf. I take in his teeth and the tongue licking them.

I can beat Josh... I think?
