Abigail kneaded her fingers together as they drove. He could hear her skin rubbing and her knuckles cracking because of it and it made him antsy.
He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel and glanced over to her, “You seem nervous.”
She let out a quick breath and looked over to him, “Yeah, a bit.”
He looked back to the road, thinking of what to say to her, “It'll be alright.” That was the best he came up with.
She nodded, coughing and bringing her hand to her mouth.
He glanced at her again, “Do you want to listen to music?”
“No.” She shook her head and undid her seatbelt quickly.
“Abi.”
She slid across the leather bench seat and snuggled into him.
He warmed and tried not to smile because it was very apparent she just wanted his comfort. He lifted his near arm from the steering wheel and dropped it around her shoulders, pulling her closer.
“Colten...” She purred into his chest and it warmed him with hot prickling included.
“We don't have to go, if you've changed your mind.”
“I miss my momma.” She breathed, “I want to show her your ring.”
He swallowed, “You think we should tell them now?”
She paused, “I wanted to.”
“Okay.” He winced and kept his eyes on the road.
“Daddy has no reason to hate you, Colten.”
“Other than the fact that I turn into a wolf.” He grumbled.
She slipped her arm around his waist and rubbed her cheek against him, “You're warm.”
“Are you cold? I'll turn the air conditioning down.”
She mumbled, “I like you keeping me warm.”
He smiled.
“Can we tell them, please?” She brought it up again, obviously not feeling his reassurance with the topic from before.
He sighed, “If it's what you want, Abi.”
Her fingers ran over his abdomen and played with the buttons on his shirt, pulling at them softly.
He tried to ignore her constant need to touch and caress him but he really wasn't much better, “You haven't asked me about much.”
“I don't know what to ask.”
“You aren’t curious about shifting?”
She fell silent.
His hand on her side gripped her and she wiggled.
“I don't know what that means.” Her voice was soft as she kept up with the button playing.
He sighed, “This is what I'm talking about.”
She giggled, “We haven't had a lot of time to talk.”
“A day.” He answered.
“Oh, Colten, you're funny but all I remember doing is being underneath you.”
He grunted, “Abigail.”
She laughed and came up, kissing his stubbled cheek. Her mouth ran across his skin to his ear, “Mm... I love you. I think they'll see that.”
He doubted her parent's would see anything, however her breath on his ear and her mouth biting into his lobe was enough to convince him.
“I'm going to have to put you back in your seat, Miss.”
She snorted, “Oh, hush up.”
He smiled, rubbing her shoulder as her gentle hand gripped his crotch.
“Abi.” He warned.
“Colten.” She tugged as his zipper on his jeans.
“Abigail.” He wasn't sure if he could deal with driving and her mouth on him, at least not at that moment, “Baby, I'm trying to drive.”
She pouted, “You can drive yourself fine, Colten. Give me what I want.”
He took a breath and since he couldn't deny his desiring luna anything, he took himself from his jeans.
She moaned and curled into his lap, her mouth taking him right away.
He put his hand to her blonde hair and stroked her locks, trying to stay focused on the road. She had five minutes to enjoy herself before they were going to be subjected to her parents and that she seemed to know and it seemed to make her work him harder.
***
Colten stopped the truck in front of the Redding's huge ranch home. He hadn’t been there recently, even though he'd worked there for years and that felt weird to him. He pushed the truck into park and took a moment.
Abigail straightened beside him from where she was again rested on his shoulder after her endeavours that had seemed to calm her nerves. She swallowed and ran a hand over her delicate mouth.
“Ready to go?” He asked her softly.
“Yes.” She nodded, tucking her hair behind her ears.
He looked her over and then leaned in, kissing her, “If your father acts out in any way I don't like, we may have an issue. I don't know how well my patience will be with you involved.”
She nodded, “I understand.”
“I need to know you'll come with me, I'll have a hard time leaving you.” He paused, “Either that, or I don't go in. Just wait outside here.”
“No. Come in. I'll leave if we need to.” She kissed his cheek and reached to his crotch.
Her touch on him nice as she placed him back in his jeans and pulled the zipper up.
“Sorry about what I did to you.”
He laughed, “Oh, Abi, you're not sorry.” His hand flicked the locks open as the front door of the house opened and Darlene walked out onto the stone steps.
Abigail's attention then shifted from her mate to her mother.
Colten felt her chest start to rapid fire and her need for her mother became apparent. He got of the truck and helped Abigail to her feet. He took a two second moment and kissed her forehead before freeing her.
She walked around the truck first to her mother, who came alive once she set eyes on her only child.
“Abigail!” Darlene rushed her, once within touching distance she embraced her daughter.
“Momma.” Abigail breathed into her mother's shoulder as the woman held her tighter.
Colten was slow with the door closing and walking, he didn't want to disrupt them or cause any fire up of emotion.
He stopped beside the hood of his truck and looked down to the red paint job that at one point, like when he'd first driven it off the lot, had been not chipped and scuffed up.
“Oh, Abi, I was so worried!” Darlene still held her.
“I know.” Abigail breathed to her.
Darlene finally let up on the death grip and she looked over to Colten, who did make eye contact with her but it took all his nerve to do so.
“Momma, can we come in?” Abigail asked her softly.
Darlene swallowed and looked back to her daughter, “Yes, of course.” She took her daughter's hand and led Abigail back to the house.
Colten dragged behind and watched his mate get led from him. His wolf was twitching, he knew he should have just let her go in herself but that might have bothered him even more. He was on the fence.
Once he stepped inside, he couldn't hear much else other then the yappy little dogs at the end of the hall going crazy.
Darlene closed the front door, “Your father isn't home yet, Abigail.”
Colten was relieved to say the least. He stayed quiet as he took off his boots.
Abigail didn't let her mother take her arm again, instead she turned to him and took his hand and Darlene obviously noted this.
The woman kept it together though, “Would you like something to eat?”
“Momma, we would really like to talk.” Abigail interrupted her.
Darlene nodded, “Yes.”
Colten winced as Darlene trotted off the the huge open living room of white carpets and leather cowhide couches. The money in that house put him off and it always had.
Abigail held him back a moment, “It's okay, Colt.”
He sighed, “She's upset.”
“She's hurt. She'll be okay.” Abigail corrected him and brought him forward again.
They sat on the couches and Darlene across from them.
“We were very worried, Abigail.”
There it was, he could feel where it was all going now. Colten still stayed quiet though, not having a thing to say.
“Mmhm.” Abigail nodded.
Darlene sighed, “Your father was going insane.”
“Momma, I'm nineteen.”
“But you snuck out, Abi.” Her mother pushed.
“Daddy would have never let me out... he isn't being very accepting.”
Colten winced, accepting was a light use of a word in that situation.
Abigail continued, “Colten and I love each other.”
Her mother stopped and looked between them, “Yes, I can see that.”
“Momma, it's not fair how Daddy is acting. He's being really unfair to Colten.”
Darlene took a staggered breath.
“It's why we've stayed away, Momma.” Abigail finished and Colten figured it was a fair explanation, kidnapping and wolf-turning aside.
Darlene then made eye contact with him, “I'm sorry if Charlie has said things that are out of line to you, Colten. I didn't agree with how he acted out front of our house but Abigail was very upset...”
Colten swallowed, “We were having a bit of a misunderstanding, I apologize.”
Abigail nodded, “Colten hasn't hurt me at all.”
“I know.” Darlene breathed, “You know your father, he's just very protective. You're our only daughter, we want good things for you.”
Colten looked down to his hands and hoped good things meant him.
Abigail agreed with her mother, “Yes, I know.”
Darlene nodded and fell silent.
Colten then knew he had to stop being mute and say something to win over her mother, “I love your daughter very much.”
Abigail tightened her body to his side as he felt her rush of hormones. His luna liked his words so it encouraged him to continue.
“I don't mean to take her from you, Darlene, that's not my intention but I've... I'm just completely in love with Abigail and everything about her.” He glanced at his mate as her blue eyes shown with magnetism for him.
Abigail bit her lip and looked back to her mother, “He's perfect, right, Momma?”
Darlene broke a faint smile, “Hmm. My daughter loves you, Colten.”
Colten smiled, “I promise, I'll take care of her.”
Abigail melted into his side, wrapping her arms around his near one, “He really will.”
It was all very true, he would die to make Abigail Redding happy or keep her safe. She was his and the Luna of Fornone, she would receive everything he could possibly give her.
Darlene smiled at Abigail, “I'm sure once your father get's home, we can sit down together and he'll understand.”
Colten then wished for a miracle.
Abigail was blind like her mother though it seemed, “Oh yes, I know he will. Especially once he finds out Colten asked me to marry him.” She held out her hand and parted from him.
He winced and prepared himself for a possible miss of emotion from Darlene.
“Oh my goodness!” Her mother exclaimed and walked over right away.
Abigail jumped to show her mother, which Colten felt was all Abigail had been wanting to do since they'd got there.
He did look at the bright side though, Darlene seemed happy – which meant, maybe Charlie would be slightly encouraged by his wife.
The women swooned.
Darlene then turned and smiled at him, “It's beautiful, Colten.”
“Oh.” Colten stumbled for the right response as Abigail pulled him off the couch to his feet, “Abi, seems to like it.”
Abigail giggled, “No, I love it.”
He smiled and looked around the room again, feeling uncomfortable but that's when Darlene's abrupt hugging caught him off guard.
He paused, “Oh.”
Abigail smiled at him, mouthing something to him and he finally hugged her mother back, but rather awkwardly.
Darlene drew back and put her hands on each side of his cheeks, “Well, I always thought you were the most handsome of the boys.”
“Momma!” Abigail blushed up.
Colten smirked as he found humour in her words, “Thank you, ma'am.”
Darlene freed him and he thanked god for that.
“Come, I'll put supper on. Your father will accept this all easier eating.” She walked away towards the jointed dinning room to the back of the house.
Abigail smiled up at him, “You mean all that, don't you, Mr. Turner?”
He looked down at her, “Mean all what?”
She giggled and pushed up against him, “Lovin' me. Takin' care of me.”
He chuckled, “Yes.”
She kissed him softly, “Momma, is gonna want us here awhile.”
“It's fine.” He breathed, “I have a lot of time. No job and all.”
Abigail swallowed, “I'll talk to Daddy-”
“No, you won't.” He nipped it in the bud before it began, “I will find another job as soon as we sort all this. I can take care of you and Ella on my own.” He said gruffly, mostly because he was determined it was the absolute truth.
“Okay.” She breathed, nuzzling him and he let her cuddle into him, his hands softly cascading his mate.
She parted him though after a few more moments, “Come to the kitchen.” She grabbed his wrist and pulled him towards the kitchen.
Darlene had already been prepping supper, her counter laid out with preparations.
“Momma, you were making all this just for you and Dad?”
Darlene smiled as she unwrapped some food from some clear wrap, “I just had a feeling I would need more food. Plus your father has been bugging me about chicken fried steak. Do you like that, Colten?”
Abigail smiled, “Colten, loves it! I made him it and he ate a lot.”
“Yeah, it was good. I like good food.” He looked to her in amusement as she sat him on a near stool and leaned into him. She never stopped touching him and he liked that.
She pressed her mouth to his ear, “I love you.”
He smiled and stopped himself from reaching out and touching her.
“That's good because I don't like leftovers.” Darlene started getting her food going and Abigail parted from him to help her.
“I can help.” Colten started.
“Ah.” Abigail smiled.
“What?” He asked.
“I think you should sit there. There's a reason Alma makes all your meals.”
“I can make pancakes.” He grunted.
Darlene laughed, “Well, that's just like Charlie. Very talented at making basic breakfast...” It was then the phone rang, “Oh, I hope that's your father.” Darlene trailed off into the hall to fetch the call.
Abigail finished doing what she had been and looked to him, “Do you know what you're going to say to my dad?”
Colten chuckled, “Beg him to let me have you?”
Abigail walked over to him and kissed his cheek, “You better not beg.”
“Well, if I opt to go all alpha, your father might try to go all alpha too... I don't know how well that would all work out. What do you want to say to him?”
Abigail giggled, “I'm gonna tell him that I love you and I always have.”
“Remember how much older I am.” He smiled.
She rolled her eyes and leaned against the counters next to him, “I'll tell him your plaid is hot then and you have a big...”
“Abi.” He stopped her, “What's wrong with you?”
“But it's the truth.” She shrugged.
He smiled and reached out for her, running his hand over her side and down her thighs.
Her eyes fluttered and he felt her wanting, which was bad because they were in her parent's house.
“Momma!” Abigail called.
“Yes?” Darlene called to her daughter as Colten heard the phone hung up to the receiver.
“I'm going to show Colten the house.” Abigail smiled at him and he knew that was far from true.
“Alright.” Darlene answered as she walked back in, “Charlie said he'll be home soon, I didn't tell him your back yet though. We'll surprise him.”
“Sounds good.” Abigail grabbed Colten's wrist and pulled him out of the kitchen, towards the grand staircase, “This is the entry way, this is the stairs...”
Colten laughed, “I can see that.”
She pulled him up them, “Hush up, alpha.”
He reached out and put his arm around her waist to stop her, “I don't need to see the house.” Trying in one last ditch effort to stop, what he knew she was doing.
She came against him as she stood on the step above, “I want to show you my bedroom.”
He smiled, “Abi... what's wrong with you?” He repeated this question again.
She grabbed his arm and tugged him with her and he followed, not wanting to protest her further and knowing he wouldn't win either.
They went down the bright cream halls and she got the last room on the left. She popped it open and brought him inside to the white and pink massive room of an obvious only child.
He smiled at the frill, “Baby, I'm sorry but you can't bring any of these decorations with you.”
She giggled and closed the door, “But what if I want to?”
“No.” He drew the line, “Not a chance.”
She grabbed his shirt and started to kiss him, “What's wrong with my pink frilly bedskirt?”
He laughed, “Everything.”
“You like it.”
He chuckled, “You're right, it goes excellent with all my plaid.”
“Oh, don't talk about your plaid.” She breathed against his cheek. Her hands slipping to his waist, tugging at his clothes in want.
“This... is... wrong...” He whispered.
She giggled, “I find it exciting. I've never had a boy in my room.” She tore off the dress she'd been in and sunk down on her bed, “Limited time, Mr. Turner.”
He glanced around her room and lifted his eyebrow, “You sure seem to like me.”
“I think you owe me?” She breathed, parting her thighs for him.
He smiled, “You kill me.”
“No.” She shook her head, “You're still breathing fine.”
He came towards her and leaned over, taking her panties from her lean hips without hesitation.
She giggled and leaned back in her bed, “Mm... Alpha.”
He chuckled, “Stop it.”
He balled her underwear in his hand and came to his knees, leaning into the bed. He dropped his face casually between her thighs and then tipped his nose to her heat.
“Mm.” She giggled in anticipation.
The sound of a truck driving up and the engine cutting, made him stop his advances.
He got up quick, “I think that's your father.”
She squeak and jumped up, “Darn.”
Colten became agitated as Abigail did nothing, “Baby, get dressed!”
She moved to her dresser, “It's okay.”
“Not really. We're in your bedroom and your father wants to already kill me.”
“Colten, don't be so dramatic.” She giggled and found a shirt and jeans.
He grumbled and paced over to the window, glancing out as he saw Charlie exit his truck, “Hurry up, Abi.” He looked back over to her as she struggled and slid her lean legs into a tight pair of jeans. He pulled at the collar of his plaid shirt and twitched, looking back to the window.
The passenger side then opened and that's when Colten really got a foul taste in his mouth, “Mateo!”
