"Do you want to see her now?"
"Might as well," Indianna mumbled as they made their way to the ground floor.
"I'll take you to her," Greyson nodded and Greyson led Indianna up the stairs and to one of the many rooms he had. Pack members passed them and all smiled warmly at Indianna, but they didn't say anything else. They knew Indianna was shy and after what has happened they wanted her to feel as comfortable as she could.
Greyson knocked loudly on the door and walked in. Indianna spotted her mother sitting at a desk; she looked distressed.
"Oh thank gosh!" Iris gasped and rushed over to Indianna, pulling her into a hug.
Indianna winced slightly and awkwardly patted her mother on the back. "You can let go now," she said and Iris nodded, stepping back.
"How are you?"
"Wonderful," Indianna said sarcastically.
"When I heard what had happened I was so worried. I thought I had lost you, my baby! I can't reliv- I just can't go through that!" Iris gasped and wiped a tear that had fallen.
"Well, I'm alive," Indianna shrugged. "That's a good thing?" Iris nodded. "Then stop crying, I'm not dead yet."
"Indie, I know you hate me, but I still care. You're my daughter! Please forgive me. I only hid you from this world to protect you. I wanted to keep you safe from all of this! It's dangerous in the werewolf world. You can't blame me for wanting to protect my child."
Indianna sighed and sat down on her mothers bed. She looked at Greyson and he nodded and exited the room. "I don't hate you," Indianna muttered. "I was just annoyed. It's not just you not telling me about this world that annoyed me, it's how you've acted these past years. You haven't been a mother. Ever since dad died you got more distant each year and I hated you for it. When I most needed a parent you weren't there."
Iris sighed and nodded, sitting down next to Indianna. "I know. And I am so sorry for that, but you have to understand what it does to someone when they lose their mate. When I lost your father it felt like I had nothing to live for. My heart had been ripped out, ripped into a million pieces and buried along with your dad. Many mates don't survive long after their mates die. Lots of people take their own lives to be with their mate, many others die if grief and loneliness."
"You didn't."
"And why do you think that is?"
"I don't know."
"You," Iris said. "Because of you I had something to live for. I wasn't a good mother, I can't argue with that, but I stayed alive for you. I wanted you to have a life away from the werewolf world. I didn't want you to go through the pain I did. I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemies. Indie, I'm sorry for being distant these past years, but please give me another chance. Please."
Indianna gulped and looked into her mothers eyes. Iris was desperate. She knew that this was her last chance at getting another chance at being a mum again. "If you slip up once, we're done, it's over," Indianna said quietly. "It's going to take time to build up to a mother/daughter relationship, they don't happen overnight."
"I know and I won't slip up. I'm willing to work on it if you are."
Indianna sighed and nodded. "Okay."
"Indie, thank you," Iris gasped. "I really am sorry for how I was in the past, it won't happen again."
"I know," Indianna said with a small smile. "Well, I'm going to go." Indianna pushed herself off the bed and stumbled slightly when she put weight on her legs.
"Let me help," Iris said and stood up, wrapping her arms round Indianna and helping her to the door. When they exited the room Greyson was waiting outside. He looked up from his phone and nodded to Iris.
"You two good?"
"On the way to good."
Indianna looked at the flyer taped to her locker and a cold feeling filled her. She ripped the flyer off and crumpled it in her hand. She sighed and closed her eyes, her mind going back to that night.
"I'm sorry," she whispered and looked at the crumpled up picture on the flyer. "I'm sorry, Cassie."
"Hey." Indianna jumped when Greyson appeared next to her and she sighed, leaning into him.
"It's my fault," she whispered and looked around the school; missing person flyers were everywhere for Cassie. "She's dead because she knew me."
"Don't think like that," Greyson scolded and took the flyer out of her hand. "It is not your fault."
"But Rogue only killed her because she knew me-"
"Shut the hell up, sugar," Greyson cut her off and wrapped his arm around Indianna's waist. "It isn't your fault. It's Rogue's. It's all Rogue's fault."
Indianna sighed and chewed her lip. "I just wish she was alive. She didn't deserve to die."
"Many people don't," Greyson shrugged and the school bell rang, signally the start of the day.
Indianna jumped and winced when she heard the bell 5 times stronger than the humans. "Bloody hell," she said and rubbed her head. "I am not going to be able to get used to this."
"You're going to have to," Greyson said with a small chuckle. "Let's go."
Indianna stepped forward, but Greyson suddenly caught her and pulled her to a halt. "What?"
"Werewolf speed," Greyson said and slowly started to walk down the corridor. Indianna felt like she was walking extremely slowly and it was irritating her. "Stop speeding up," Greyson said into her ear.
"But you're walking so damn slow!" Indianna whined and Greyson laughed.
*We're walking at the same pace as everyone else,* Greyson told her. *You just want to walk at the normal pace of werewolves, which is a lot faster than humans.*
*This is annoying.*
"You'll get used to it," Greyson said and they walked into their first class.
Indianna's eyes went to a seat at the front and she frowned. It was Cassie's seat. Indianna had never seen it empty before.
"Look who's alive!" Kal announced, walking into the classroom and grinning at Indianna. "School has been very quiet this past week without you, our shy Luna," he said sarcastically and Indianna rolled her eyes.
"Kal, quieten down," Greyson snapped, but Kal just shrugged.
"So I take it you are feeling better?" Kal said, taking a seat next to Greyson.
"A lot," Indianna nodded and she looked up just as Stacy walked into class, chatting happily to one of her friends. Stacy froze when her eyes landed on Indianna and she gasped quietly. She looked at Indianna then to Greyson then back at Indianna. "Stacy," Indianna whispered and went to stand up, but Greyson grabbed her wrist.
"Sugar, don't," he said and Indianna frowned.
"Why?"
"There's something we haven't told you about Stacy," Kal said with an awkward cough and Indianna looked at them expectantly.
"What?"
"Guys!" Brooke yelled, rushing into the classroom and cutting off Kal who was just about to explain to Indianna. "Guys, there's two people, you were right, Rogue has a spy." She stopped at the table and gasped when she saw Indianna. "Oh my gosh, Indie! I didn't know you were coming back to school! How are you?"
"Good, thanks," Indianna smiled as Harry joined them. "How are you?"
"Fine," Brooke said quickly, dismissing further questions with a wave of her hand. Harry frowned at her and pursed his lips, but didn't say anything.
"Brooklyn, care you explain what you are going on about?" Greyson wondered and Brooke nodded.
"Yes. Well, you know I took Indie's phone to give to my friend to try and track Rogue's phone? It took Jasper a while, apparently it was extremely hard to trace, but he finally did it and traced the texts back to two phones. Both from this town. One of the signal's came from this school. One of the people texting Indie did it at school."
"Shit," Greyson cursed and scratched his stubble. "It isn't Rogue, we would be able to sense him, so he definitely has people working for him. It could be fucking anyone."
"We need to figure out who," Indianna spoke up.
"How?" Brooke wondered.
"I don't know," Greyson groaned and linked his fingers with Indianna's. "We need to narrow it down somehow."
"It's got to be someone who I see on a daily basis. The person couldn't have sent some texts to me without being in the same room as me and knowing what was happening," Indianna said, her anger starting to rise.
She was scared, yes, but she was also angry.
She was angry that Rogue had stalked her, attacked her, killed Cassie, killed her father and had someone spying on her.
She could no longer afford to be frightened of Rogue, she needed to stand up to him.
"That narrows it down to people in your classes," Kal said and Indianna glanced around cautiously.
"Any of these people could be working for Rogue," Indianna whispered.
"It doesn't make sense, why would humans work for Rogue?" Greyson muttered. "I don't know what he could offer them to make them spy for him?"
"Who said they were gaining something?" Harry said and shrugged his shoulders. "The mutt is a fucking nutcase, my bet is going on him threatening humans to do his dirty work."
"That fits his personality better," Kal said and Indianna groaned, covering her face with her hands.
"I just want all of this to go away," she whispered.
"Hey, look on the bright side," Kal said cheerfully. "You have your first shift to look forward too. That is so painful and horrible it will distract you from Rogue!"
Indianna turned to stare at Kal with a blank expression. "Thanks."
