Chapter 33

Ch. 33 / 71 Jan 16, 2026

"Wake up. Please wake up. Fucking wake up! I'm going to fucking murder you if you don't open your goddamn eyes, sugar!"

Indianna frowned when she heard his voice and she forced her eyes open. They felt glued together and she had to blink a few times before she could see properly. She looked around and saw she was in the infirmary, and she was not alone.

"You're awfully chipper," Indianna said sarcastically, looking at Greyson who was scowling at the floor. His head snapped up at her voice and he sighed in relief.

"Thank fuck," he said and rushed to Indianna's side. "Do you know how fucking worried I've been! Never do that to me again! Do you hear me? I'm fucking serious, never do that again!"

"Loud and clear," Indianna said, cringing at his loudness. "But don't do what?" She took in his appearance as he spoke. He looked tired. He had dark bags under his eyes and his dark hair was a mess on his head. He was paler than usual and Indianna frowned. "What's wrong, Greyson?" She tried to sit up when she said this, but an agonising pain shot down her spine and she gasped, screwing her face up in pain.

"Shit, are you alright?" Greyson panicked and Indianna winced, lying back so she was comfortable.

"Bloody hell, what was that?" Indianna asked. "Why can't I move without feeling pain?"

"Sugar," Greyson frowned, "do you remember anything from the carnival?"

Indianna looked at Greyson with a blank expression. "Carnival?"

"Shit," Greyson cursed and ran his fingers through his hair. "Fuck!"

"Greyson," Indianna said slowly, "what happened? What happened to me?"

Greyson sighed and took Indianna's hand. The sparks calmed her nerves slightly, but worry had set in.

Something had happened and it was bad.

"You... Um... Indie, we went to a carnival and while we were there we ran into somebody who... Attacked you-"

Indianna paled and her eyes flickered to Greyson. "Rogue," she whispered and she gulped as memories flooded back. "Oh my god. Oh my god, Brooke! What about Stacy-"

"What about you?" Greyson said. "Worry about yourself, Indie! You nearly died!"

"I did?" Indianna whispered.

Greyson nodded and squeezed Indianna's hand. "You were in a coma for a week."

"W-what!"

"Indie, I was so worried. I thought I'd never see you again!"

"I nearly died," she whispered and closed her eyes. "Rogue nearly killed me."

"We're going to kill him," Greyson growled.

"Is that before or after he takes us down?" Indiana gulped and Greyson narrowed his eyes at her.

"Don't think like that!" He snapped. "We're going to kill the fucking mutt."

"Greyson," Indianna whispered, her eyes flickering to his. "He wants me. Greyson, I'm scared."

"Nothing is going to happen to you," Greyson said confidently. "Sugar, I'd die to protect you."

Indianna chewed on her lip and gulped. "That's what I'm scared of."

"Can you try sitting up for me, Luna?"

Indianna nodded and shifted on the bed. She slowly started to lean forward, stopping when a slight pain ran down her back.

"If you make my mate do anything that inflicts pain on her I will kill you," Greyson called, stopping what he was doing on his phone to look up at Doc in warning.

"I'm fine," Indianna nodded and continued to sit up. There was a small amount of pain, but it was bearable and she easily sat up in the bed.

"That's great," Doc nodded. "Now can you look to the left for me." Indianna did as he said with only slight discomfort. "And to the right." Again, there was a niggle of pain, but she could deal with it. "Now look up." Indianna gritted her teeth in pain when she did this and winced slightly.

"Doc," Greyson warned, his eyes still on his phone.

"I'm fine, you need to stop making death threats," Indianna said and looked at Doc.

"I'm used to them by now," Doc chuckled. "Now look down."

Indianna gasped and stopped as soon as her head moved an inch. It felt like the wounds on her neck were ripping apart and the pain spread down her whole back. "Nope," she cringed. "That really hurts."

"Okay, lift your head back to normal," Doc instructed.

"Doc, she's still human. She takes time to heal," Greyson snapped. "Remember she's not a werewolf."

"I know," Doc nodded. "However, it seems that she has as well as her randomly getting werewolf strength and speed, she also heals as well as a werewolf does at times. Sometimes she heals at the rate of a human and sometimes at the rate of a werewolf. Her wounds are healing much quicker and better than they usually would."

"Still, do not push her," Greyson warned. "Sugar, don't try and force yourself to do something that hurts. You'll heal in time."

"I'm fine," Indianna said.

"Do you want to try walking?" Doc asked and Indianna nodded. "You may feel weak on your legs. Rogue's claws embedded into your spine and while you were unconscious you were temporarily paralysed. Your legs will be weak and shaky. Just take your time."

Indianna nodded and swung her legs over the side of the bed. Slowly she lowered herself down until her bare feet touched the cold floor. As soon as some weight was put onto her legs they felt shaky and weak. She gritted her teeth and stood up fully, but she couldn't stop her legs from buckling. Greyson was by her side in an instant and caught her before she fell to the floor. He sucked air through his teeth and narrowed his eyes at Indianna.

"Careful," he said and slid his arms round her waist, taking her weight. He was so glad that he could finally hold her while she was conscious and not fighting to stay alive.

She was okay.

She survived Rogue.

"How long will it take?" Indianna asked. "For my legs to get stronger?"

"It's hard to tell. It all depends on you. If I were you I would try and walk as much as possible to try and build your strength. But, you are to make no sudden movements or turn your body much," Doc said.

"Okay," Indianna nodded and gripped onto Greyson's hand. "Can I go back to my room now?"

"If you want to, but you have to check in with me every other evening," Doc said.

"Okay, thank you," Indianna said. "Thank you for well... Saving me."

"Thank you for staying alive," Doc chuckled. "I think Greyson would have ripped my heart out if didn't save you."

"Your death wouldn't have been so quick," Greyson shrugged, but the corners of his mouth curved upwards. "Come on, let's go." Greyson helped Indianna to walk out of the infirmary and gripped onto her tightly as they made their way up the stairs. "Indie, your mother is here."

"She is?" Indianna said, looking up at Greyson with wide eyes. "Did Rogue-"

"He hasn't touched her," Greyson said and shook his head. "She wants to see you."

"I... Um..."

"You don't have to see her if you don't want-"

Indianna sighed and shook her head. "No. She's probably worried sick; her only daughter was attacked by a psychopath. I can't not see her."
