Elise watched as Skylar stood up from the room as she rushed off in the direction of the toilet, a gasp escaping her lips as she tried to know what was wrong with her. No, that can't be. Vino couldn't do that to her. He knows how much she is in love with him. She has been hoping that one day they will be together only for this to happen.
Elise stood up from the dining and excused herself to go to her room. Her mind was in turmoil trying to know what was wrong with Skylar. She wanted to creep down there and ask her what was wrong with her or was it something with the food? No, this is a normal delicacy they are all used to, not the local one.
"Where are you going?" Vino asked Elise, he saw that her food was untouched like she hadn't eaten anything out of it. He can't have her getting sick. His hands were filled with Skylar's. Speaking of her, he couldn't help wondering what was wrong with her?
"I need to make some calls. I need to talk to Adora. I'm missing her" Elise told Vino, in a rush to get away from him. She wanted to go to Skylar and confirm with her eyes what she had seen. She kept checking the washroom door wishing that they wouldn't come out yet...
"Okay. My regards to her too" Vino replied, waving her off as he saw her scurrying away from him. He shrugged and turned to speak with Ernesto as they both discussed their new business deal.
Elise strolled down the corridor, far away from the dining. She had seen Skylar taking the left staircase to the female washroom. She rushed up and opened the door gently, and walked in. She paused as soon as she heard Skylar and Paula communicating in one of the cubicles. She paused and strain her ear to listen to their conversation.
"Are you alright? What's making you nauseous, I'm scared Skylar. Do you need to see the doctor?" Paula asked Skylar, one couldn't mistake the concern and panic in her voice as she helped Skylar flush the toilet.
"No, I'm okay. I guess it's the morning sickness starting a bit early with me" Skylar replied gently as she shook her head trying to clear Paula's doubt that something serious might be wrong with her.
"For sure?" Paula asked her as she ran her hands down her body trying to be sure but Skylar nodded and swat her hands away.
"I'm good. Don't worry" Skylar replied as she smiled up at Paula, touched by her concern.
"But I still think you need to see a doctor. The hotel had a doctor, I will get him to come check on you. Is that okay with you?" Paula repeated her concern, unable to shake off that feeling, as she stared up at Skylar with a hard look that she couldn't help refusing.
"Yes, mom, '' Skylar replied playfully as she rolled her eyes at Paula's protective instinct. She was behaving like her mother.
"Of course. I need to be sure you are alright, I promise your mom that moreover, I wouldn't want her to snap my head in seconds" Paula replied as she smiled and made to step out of the washroom.
Elise listened to their conversation with an overly beating heart. Her doubts were confirmed and if she could say___ The baby in her was Vino, that she knows but...
Elise clenched her fists in anger. It seemed that Skylar was an obstacle to her happiness, she needed to take her away soon and fast. She can't have anybody taking Vino away from her. He was her ticket to a good life.
Elise walked away as soon as she saw the door click about to open, she rushed down the stairs and opened the door into her room. She took out her phone and called the only person who always seems to believe her in everything...
"Hello," Elise called into the phone. She was excited to speak with her mom. That means she was alright seeing that she had accepted the call.
"Mrs. Fabio. I'm sorry, your mom isn't available to answer the call at the moment. This is her nurse" A lady's voice called out to her from the other side of the phone causing the tears to spill down her face.
"Nurse, please how's my mother doing?" Elise finally forced herself to ask after some time as she sniffed into the phone.
"She was okay some time ago. She even asked us to call you but it started all over again" The Nurse explained to Elise. She was sorry for her having to go through all of that. If only her mother was okay.
"Thank you. Please get in touch with me as soon as she wakes," Elise called to the nurse as she wiped her eyes. As soon as she heard footsteps coming up the stairs, she couldn't have Vino seeing her in tears. He would want to know what was wrong and she isn't ready yet to tell him about her mother.
"Will do that, Mrs. Fabio. Do have a nice day" The Nurse called to her before she heard the click of the phone, ending the call just as the door sprung open.
"Are you okay?" Vino asked her as he made to step into the room. Avoiding her eyes, he walked immediately to the bed and sat down. Resting his head on the armrest, in a relaxed manner, he turned to watch her, to see that her mascara was smeared around her eyes. Was she crying? As far as he knows, Elise was one cold bitch who wasn't capable of shedding tears unless something was wrong with____
Vino jumped up from the bed and rushed to her side "Is something wrong with Adora?" Vino asked her as he shook her, he knew that was the only person that could bring tears to her eyes. She's always fond of Adora and cares for her with her life. He loves the way she's with her...
"Adora?" Elise asked with confusion in her eyes. She couldn't help being too worried if Adora was sick. She wanted to bring her here with them but Vino had insisted on having her stay with his brother Michael and wife, Nina
"I mean, you are crying so I assume maybe something is wrong with Adora" Vino replied before going back to the bed. He felt like an idiot jumping to conclusions like that...
"No, nothing is wrong with Adora. She's fine" Elise replied as she made to go closer to him but something he said caused her to pause as she smiled in excitement.
"Were you worried about Adora just now?" Elise asked him in wonderment. As far as she could tell, this was the first time Vino would ever show concern for his daughter. Does this mean he's warming up to her? Elise couldn't help congratulating herself for making the right decision on bringing Adora to New York. She was the only person who could get Vino to marry her.

"Could we not talk about that now?" Vino told her as a matter of fact, cutting her off as he went searching for a shirt to go with his cream-colored shorts...
"But shouldn't we be planning that now. I mean sooner or later we are going to get married, I will gladly like it if we could start planning it now" Elise protested furiously, trying to get Vino to accept her terms.
Truth is, after confirming that Skylar was pregnant. Elise was scared that she had more reason to be with Vino than her. What if he finds out the truth? No, I can't have him leaving me. I need him!" Elise screamed in her mind as she made to go to Vino who was buttoning up his shirt.
"Of course, but I have a lot of things to plan and I can boldly tell you that wedding is not my priority right now," Vino told her as he turned to see her coming closer to him without a smile on her face. He knew that she had an interior motive of trying to get him to marry her but he was trying to find out the why?
"And, you just lost your husband recently. What do you think people will say when they find out that you are planning to get married to me a few months after your husband's funeral? We are both influential people, your husband and I. The media will be interested in our affairs and I'm not ready to have my name smeared by the media" Vino continued swiftly as he watched her advances without lifting his brows. He saw the smile leave her face in seconds; he could almost hear the wheel turning in her head. He knew she was smart to know that they couldn't get married yet.
Elise paused in her stride as she glared up at Vino, she couldn't help but see the sense in his words but she couldn't give him that satisfaction that he's free to get married to Skylar. What if he discovered about the pregnancy tomorrow? No, she can't risk Vino leaving her. She could risk losing a few of her late husband's properties but not Vino
"I'm sure that if it was Skylar asking you to marry her at this moment, I know you would gladly say yes to her" Elise glared at him as she challenged him to reject her reasoning.
"Of course, yes because Skylar isn't tied into a funeral rite right now, moreover this isn't about Skylar. This is about you and me. And she belongs to Gian now" Vino told her even as he said those words, he couldn't help the bile rising in his throat. He can't have her in any relationship with Gian. He needed to have alone time with her sometime later.
"Oh! I hope you'll remember that when you're dealing with her in the future. She is no longer yours; she belongs to Gian now. Moreover, I overheard Gian telling Ernesto that he wanted to propose to her tonight. Do you think she's pregnant? I mean only when one is pregnant can make someone rush to get married" Elise lied without batting her eyelashes, she wanted to break any chance that Vino and Skylar could make up as she let her words hang in the air like a seething snake ready to strike any moment.
Vino froze as he tried to bring down his heart which escalated as soon as he had Elise say that. He tried to behave like her words were nothing to him but he couldn't hide it because he loved her. He finally put a name to his emotion, yes, he was in love with Skylar Evans, a nobody. A plain-looking girl who was nothing compared to his classy models he always dated but he loved her and he couldn't allow anyone to take her except him.
Elise smiled as soon as she saw Vino clench his fists in anger. She was excited to see that he was angry with Skylar, that only means that he wouldn't run off to her behind her back. She took a rush step to his side and hugged him close as she tried to fit her head in between his shoulders as he was quite taller than her since she was not on heels.
"I'm sorry, I hate to know that I'm the one breaking this news to you. I don't want to see you like this. I want you to know that I can't ever leave you for anyone. I love you so much. I'm not that whore, a backstabbing bitch who couldn't control herself and ____"
"Can we not talk about that woman again?" Vino asked her as he made to peel her hands from his body. He hates her touch, the only touch he craves is about to leave him and he won't allow that.
Vino made to walk out of the room but Elise's loud voice caused him to stop" Where are you going, Vino? Don't tell me you are going to meet that woman"
"I'm just going to get dressed for dinner. I'll suggest you do the same" Vino told her as he threw a fleeting glance her way before stepping out of the room, closing the door gently behind him.
"Good. Now, let me see how that woman could trap you with her pregnancy" Elise smiled as she went into the bathroom to shower and prepare for dinner.
