Ever After
“Hey, where’s that lipgloss—” Kara stopped dead as her eyes fell on his patent dress shoes. Her heart thumped when her eyes lifted to him in his trim tux. He looked even better up close than out the window minutes before.
“What are you doing here?” she managed to squeak out.
“You look beautiful, my love.” He came toward her, each step slower until he stood in front of her. Her eyes flew over the tux he wore, clean lined and trim to his form, it made her heart sputter.
“James, leave!” She stiffened from how hungry his eyes looked on her. “Becky won’t like this,” she breathed.
“I already got rid of her.”
She blushed. “You did?”
“Mm. Did you mouth for me to fuck off through the window?”
She couldn’t help herself and brought her hands to his chest to feel him through the fitted black jacket. “You were staring at me.”
“I’m allowed. You’re mine.”
“Not for another five minutes.” She challenged him with some sprite. “Now, leave.” When she took his shoulder to shove him around, her hand on the expensive tux made her pause. He undid the single button on his jacket, shrugging the coat off to reveal the smart fitting waistcoat underneath.
“What are you doing?” She tried to ignore the dampening of her underwear.
“You told me fuck off.” He dropped the jacket over a nearby chair back.
“James,” she laughed him off. “You deserved it. Like you do now…” Her voice etched away as her eyes wandered over how good he looked in the dapper black vest and white pressed shirt, free of any wrinkles with its tiny accented black buttons and full bowtie around his neck.
“Really?” He took her around the waist and backed her against the door.
She giggled. “You’re going to get in big trouble for this.”
He turned her away from him and edged the floor length hem of her dress up and over her hips.
Her eyes widened and she hit his hand away. “Stop!”
“Hush now.” He bent her forward, until her palms were braced on the door.
She looked over her shoulder to him with a gulp, unable to stop it and not really wanting to either. Her forehead dropped to the door from embarrassment when he pushed aside her white lace underwear and his bare hand met her bottom with a good smack.
“James!” She yelped and tried to turn and face him but he didn’t let her.
“You’re not to tell me to fuck off, do you understand?”
Her stomach tore with butterflies. “Yes.”
“Yes, what?”
She giggled and he grabbed her hips to correct her. Her eyes fluttered shut from the way his teeth bit down on her shoulder. “Yes, sir.”
“That’s right.”
She heard his zipper right before he took her from behind.
There wasn’t any lead up. He just wet his cock and put himself inside her. His one hand covered hers on the door and her eyes wandered to see the cufflinks she’d got him. Her eyes focused on the raised monogrammed JD and her heart sped knowing in less than a few minutes, he would be her husband. James Dray would be hers.
She kept her moan, even when her mouth opened to let it out and he whispered things to her that should not have been getting said minutes before their wedding ceremony in a church. When his thrust picked up, so did her want to scream as the stretch and pull after a week was more than she knew what to do with.
His hand went between her legs and he rubbed her, making it so easy for her to finish and when she tensed and moaned his name, he came against her hard, one, twice and the loud knock at the door came with his last thrust into her.
“James!” It was Garrett. The door knob turning caused her to pull back but James shoved his patent leather oxford against it before it was opened.
“Get out here!” Garrett tried again but he kept it good and shut with just his foot.
Kara looked over her shoulder to him as he caught his breath, kissing her shoulder. She giggled. “That was really…”
“Tell me,” he whispered as he slipped from inside her and she felt herself drip down her leg from the quick encounter.
“Amazing but so, so stupid,” she said as Garrett shouted again at him.
“One bloody second.” James put his shoulder into the door and fixed his pressed shirt back into his matching tailored pants. She grabbed his jacket and brought it to him.
“You look handsome. The tux is…” Her eyes wandered over him again and her heart fluttered. “Perfect.”
“I’m glad you approve.” He kissed her quickly, taking the jacket from between her fingers.
“You’re supposed to be in the church now!” His uncle shouted through the door.
“Just go before they crucify us,” Kara panicked.
James chuckled and went to leave, still attempting to fix his shirt back into place and do up his fly.
“Do up your pants!” She felt her face burn red hot.
“I’ll see you at the end of the aisle, my love.” He let Garrett open the door wide enough for him to leave and shut it behind himself to ensure her privacy.
Becky came back in as Kara headed straight for the washroom. “Kara!”
She grabbed the door to shut it but Becky caught it. The blonde studied her and then laughed.
“Oh my god!” Becky burst. “Did you two actually just fuck—”
“No!” Kara shoved the door shut and sat to the toilet to shut her eyes and calm her racing heart.
“Kara, James just did up his trousers in the hallway!” Becky was in stitches. “Garrett could only stare at him. He didn’t know what to say! It was hilarious!”
Kara muttered. I wish I had an ounce of his ability to not give a shit!
“That was the best thing I’ve ever seen at a wedding, ever!”
Kara opened the door once cleaned up from her ordeal with him. “He ruined my makeup.”
Becky looked her over. “I’ll fix it quickly. It’s not that bad.”
Kara nodded as Becky grabbed the makeup supplies the artist had left for them to use for touch ups. This was more than a touch up though. Her eyes wandered across the room to the door and her heart fluttered. He’d taken her moments before she was supposed to marry him and it had felt so right.
“We were on time until he did that,” Becky smiled.
Kara sighed. “He doesn’t care…”
Becky nodded through her laugh. “James could make the world wait for him and he’d still get off the hook.” She fixed up the lip liner and blush along Kara’s cheeks. “Your cheeks look a bit flushed but it’s quite pretty.”
Kara glanced at herself in the mirror, aside from the faint red mark on her shoulder from where he’d bit her during the quickie, she looked the same.
“My god, this is unacceptable!” Millie stormed into the dressing room.
Kara stiffened as the woman appeared in her vision.
“He’s gotten an earful from his uncle!” She walked over and stared in at Kara, shaking her head. “You need to stand your ground with him. Tell him no once in a while.”
Kara winced. “I tried…”
“You told him no?” Millie demanded an answer but Kara couldn’t give her one. She’d told him no—kinda—not really.
Becky took Kara’s shoulders from behind and rubbed. “He’s just very convincing, isn’t he?”
The reassurance came with more embarrassment.
Millie shook her head. “You need to learn to take control of a situation. You’re going to be his wife for god’s sake!”
“Have you met him?” Kara said with more edge than she meant to.
Becky burst into laughter that ended with Millie’s glare and no more laughing.
“This is why he got you pregnant.”
Kara stared at her and swallowed. “He’s actually really responsible—”
“When he wants to be but when it comes to women, I’m sorry, he’s exactly like his father!”
Becky and Kara both stared in shock at the woman.
“I can’t imagine the amount of offspring Kevin paid to disappear.”
Kara felt her stomach lurch.
“My brother-in-law only got married when he was told to by Rose and Oliver. James and Sophie are Kevin’s heirs because they were conceived with his wife. He’s just lucky no woman had his first-born son in between. I remember when we all thought Marisha wouldn’t have another. Even with all the scandalous remarks about her off in Paris with another man, Kevin kept her around. Their entire relationship was a shameful waste.”
Kara swallowed the hard lump in her throat. “I don’t think James is a waste.”
“A by-product of his father for sure.” Millie turned and walked away. “Come along!”
Becky looked at her. “Are you okay?”
“Is that at all true about his mom and dad?”
“I don’t know,” she whispered. “I know Kevin was older when he married Marisha but I thought that was because he’d spent a lot of time furthering his career within The Coven.”
“The what?” Kara breathed through a bit of her panic.
“It’ll be okay.” Becky assured her. “James is so in love with you. Millie is just bitter, probably because she married a second-son but it’s not all bad marrying the normal-men, you know—like Drew. There’s less responsibility for us.”
“What?” Kara swallowed, holding back her tears.
“I’m not saying I wouldn’t take a first choice,” Becky giggled nervously as she rambled. “I mean, James is very impressive. Anyway, let’s go get you married!” Becky grabbed her wrist and led her out of the room and down the hall, joining Millie to wait for direction.
Kara didn’t have a moment to think anything that Becky said through.
“Now, are you alright?” Millie asked her.
“S-sure.” She wrung her hands around one another. Fuck. She’d already been nervous and it got worse from that moment on.
“Good.” Millie held out her hand. “Becky, bouquet!”
Becky swooped in and gave her the bouquet of soft pink roses, lambs ear and other pale beautiful flowers. She passed it to Kara, securing her hands on the neatly wrapped stems.
“Alright, regroup,” Millie said to them.
Becky moved in front of Kara. “Are you okay?” she mouthed at her and Kara could only shrug a shoulder in reply.
Millie tightened her grip on Kara’s arm, snapping her out of her petrified state.
“Now, Kara, just listen to the prompts,” Millie explained as she walked her forward. “It will be over before you know it.”
Kara felt her chest tightening, her world closing in. What, am I going to the dentist for a filling? Her step faltered, her heart pounding in reply to the nervousness.
Millie brought her forward, letting Kara cling to her.
Three more steps and she’d be on her own. Just walk in a straight line.
“Get your composure.” Millie said, “Walk forward. Stand straight. Don’t look back, just look at him or somewhere near him. Just look forward, not at the ground. Remember you’re going to be a Dray…”
The air around her felt thin and hard to breathe, and she knew her nervousness was turning to anxiety. She put a hand on her stomach and looked down, almost losing her balance from the dizziness. Everything came to a standstill. Her throbbing ears faded and her teary eyes dried. A static pull called to her.
She took a deep breath and that was that.
Millie straightened her shoulders. “Alright. To the end of the aisle in about thirty seconds. They’ll usher you in.”
Kara grabbed her wrist before the woman could move away.
Millie met her gaze, startled by the sudden contact.
“Thank you…”
The woman forced a smile. “Yes, of course.” She walked away around the corner, leaving her.
Kara took a deep, staggered breath. Thirty, twenty-nine, twenty-eight, twenty-seven, twenty-six…
She closed her eyes, the buzz around her fading away.
Twenty… Ten…
Five… Oh fuck… at least, he’ll protect us and I think…
“Ma’am?”
Kara snapped her eyes open as a man stood in front of her, smiling. He held out his hand to help her walk forward.
She let him take her forearm, her arms shaking as he stepped her up in front of the door.
He loves me.
The man reached for the doorknob.
Kara swallowed. She closed her eyes. She heard the rattle of the knob, the sound etched into her ears, causing her more panic.
Only you. Forever, Kara.
Her eyes snapped open and she looked to the man in front of her. She caught his arm before he swung the doors open. “What did you say?”
He paused. “Nothing, ma’am.”
Kara swallowed. Now I’m hearing things.
“Are you okay?” he whispered.
She nodded, almost in tears, biting her bottom lip clean of her lipstick. “You can open the door.”
He smiled softly. “Best wishes, ma’am.”
The old wooden door opened and a beam of bright sun hit her face, filtering in from the large stained-glass windows. She squinted through it, her eyes adjusting, and she caught his gaze.
He took a deep breath and she watched his shoulders relax, his weight shifting.
Nervous, James? However, he was at the end of the aisle like he had promised and that attested to something in itself.
Her eyes caught his and he swallowed, dropping his chin with a slight wince.
She stepped forward and as soon as her heels hit the hardwood of the aisle, it was all very different, a dividing line in her life. Her old life slipped behind her and she didn’t look back at it.
Her eyes scanned the room of smiling faces she didn’t know but felt her nervousness wash away when her eyes settled on his. She felt his pride. Her heart melted, pounding wildly, sending a rush of blood to her face and flushing her cheeks. Her mouth parched, making her lick her nervous lips. She tightened her hands on the bouquet in front of her as the anticipation ate at her soul.
This is the longest walk of my whole entire life!
She came to the end of the aisle and turned her chin to look at him.
He stepped up to her, finally within close proximity. Her senses crumbled, causing her bottom lip to start its quivering again.
He held out his hand for her, dropping his mouth next to her ear. “Only you. Forever, Kara.”
Her eyes flashed up to him and she froze. What did he just say?
Her hand gripped his and he moved her forward. She tried to keep it together but really, she was about to burst into tears.
The minister started, saying whatever the hell he was saying but Kara didn’t bother to listen and she was pretty sure James didn’t either. Mostly because he kept staring at her like she was the only thing in the room. If it wasn’t a clear sign of his affection, she didn’t know what was.
She chewed her lip. He’s mind-blowing that’s for sure.
Her eyes traced down his neck to the perfected bow-tie and white, crisp shirt he’d managed to get all back in place perfect.
“I love you…” His voice was quick and quiet.
She looked up to him as she felt his clammy palm in hers. He’s nervous… Not even he can come out unscathed from this torture.
She looked around them, breaking away from his gaze. Rose smiled at her and that relieved her for some reason.
His hand tightened on hers, jolting her senses back to him.
James Dray… you’re a bad boy but I love you.
He smiled softly at her and the minister broke her from her thoughts.
“Repeat after me, James.” The man cleared his throat. “I, James Oliver Dray.”
Kara’s eyes widened. Oh crap! We’re already at this part…
He took a breath before speaking. “I, James Oliver Dray.”
“Take thee, Kara Marie Heart.”
James smiled at her and she swore her heart stopped. “Take thee, Kara Marie Heart.”
“To be my wedded wife.”
Kara stared up at him, her lips twitching with a hint of a smile. She wanted to hear him say this part…
He took another breath. “To be my wedded wife.” His voice was so determined, heart throbbing even.
She got shaky.
“To have and to hold from this day forward. For Better, for worse.”
James smiled and repeated the words to her. To her, that was the main point. Only her. Like she was the only one in that room.
“For richer, for poorer. In sickness and in health. To love and to cherish. Till death do us part.”
James ran his fingers along her arm and repeated, “For richer, for poorer. In sickness and in health. To love and to cherish. Till death do us part.”
“Now the ring.”
James dropped his hand from hers and pulled her ring from his pant pocket. “Lucky it’s still here. I didn’t check.”
Kara laughed at him, biting the inside of her cheek to try and stop most of her outburst. She wiped a hand under her nose as her tears slowly caressed down her face.
He glanced up to her and smiled back, then with his nervous hand, slipped the ring on her finger.
It matched her engagement ring perfectly and that made her heart flutter—the rings together were perfect.
“Thank you,” she whispered to him, looking over the diamonds still.
“Hush…” he whispered and when she looked up, he winked at her.
Her heart pounded. Don’t do that, James. That always throws me off!
The minster turned to her. “Now, Kara. I, Kara Marie Heart…”
Her stomach turned and she swallowed. She had to do this, had to be his. “I, Kara Marie Heart.”
“Take thee, James Oliver Dray.”
Her stomach really turned. “Take thee, James Oliver Dray.”
James smiled at her, it was a small, small smile but she knew he liked what was coming out of her mouth. That gave her comfort, confidence and fulfilment.
“To be my wedded husband.”
Kara smirked. “To be my wedded husband thing.”
He laughed softly. “Thing, Kara?”
She really did want to be his wife. You’re some-thing, James Dray.
The minster continued, breaking their conversation. “To have and to hold from this day forward. For Better, for worse.”
Kara said it word for word, her heart beating like mad. She felt the overwhelming hunger in her and his wanting for her in turn.
“For richer, for poorer. In sickness and in health. To love and to cherish. Till death do us part.”
She smirked after finishing her line. “I don’t think death will part us.”
James chuckled as she turned to take the ring from Becky.
Kara turned back around and took his now warm but clammy hand and slipped the band on it. She smiled. There. Done. Now I can beat him as I please when he pisses me off.
He let out an unsettled laugh and she looked up to him.
“What?” she whispered.
“Then by the powers vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife.”
James grabbed her arm quickly.
Her body started to ping with electricity, scorching her nerves. Her knees trembled. Why do I have to be so hormonal, it gives him too much power! She cursed herself.
James looked to the man. “Isn’t there more to that?”
Kara raised an eyebrow. Way to be an ass even on our wedding day.
He adjusted his grip on her arm and she knew he didn’t care about the people watching them; he was going to kiss her like they were alone.
The minster grunted at his rudeness with good humour. “You may kiss your bride.”
James did just what she thought. He pulled her in and gripped her waist, leaning over her belly so he could crush his mouth against hers.
She laughed softly, his asshole-ism leaving her mind completely. Then the kiss regrouped, became soft and lovely like he was capable of. His tongue dipped against hers in smooth succession.
She smiled, a giggle escaping her lips.
He pulled her back and smiled. “Don’t laugh at me, Mrs. Dray.”
Kara bit into his mouth again and hushed his protests. She didn’t hear or see much else because nothing else seemed to matter but him and her.
When he finally pulled back from her, she clung tight to him.
He kissed the side of her head as they looked out into the small church.
Kara closed her eyes and stayed still. Breathing him in, he smelled strong with a long note of musk and sweetness. She’d never smelled that cologne before but she liked it.
“I love you.” James dropped his mouth to hers again and kissed her softly.
Once outside the church, she pretended to care about everyone around her, even though she couldn’t have cared one bit.
Garrett was in front of her, looking sort of impressed if she had to put a word to it. Though he was still looming, a bit broody even but he smiled at her and kissed her cheek.
“Well done then. See you in a bit.” He walked off after patting James on the shoulder.
Then the limo came around and she got in with her husband’s aid.
She scooted across the seat to make room for him.
It was dark and closed off, private.
Her ears pricked with warmth. “We need this whole thing to ourselves? Isn’t that a bit of a waste?”
He looked at her, his face calm but his eyes were a whole other story. “Alone time is never a waste with you…”
She smiled at him as he ushered inside the vehicle.
He came in beside her along the seat and shut the door, pressing a button above his head that she could only assume locked something. Her eyes went to the divider between them and driver and she knew then the privacy he’d just ensured for them.
“Alright?” He asked her finally.
“I kind of wanted to kill you… that was so embarrassing, they all knew we had sex!”
He chuckled. “I’m sorry. I just had to have you…”
She flattened her dress along her lap as the car pulled away from the church. “However,” she said as she looked up to him, “you made up for it there. You did well.”
“I was nervous.” He swallowed. “Nervous you’d change your mind.”
“I wouldn’t do that. Not even when Millie told me your father was a player.”
“She said what?”
“That your dad possibly has children none of you know about.”
James rolled his eyes. “That’s a bunch of nonsense. My father was just a workaholic.”
That story matched Becky’s and she felt a bit of relief from the ordeal.
“And my mother was a socialite. At times, they lived two very different lives.”
“Oh,” Kara nodded with understanding.
“Mum liked Paris, my father preferred his flat in London. We were at boarding schools. Blackwell was full of paid staff. That’s just what it was like. On holidays they were always together though or if I had a big game, they were there together.” He moved off the seat and kneeled in front of her, his hands gripping her thighs.
Her body pulsed. “What are you doing?”
“You mean everything to me.” He breathed. “So will this baby. We will all be together much more than what it was like when I was growing up. I promise.” His fingers caressed her hips, sending sensation through her body in smooth, hot, lovely waves.
She tried to push past what he was doing to her. “You don’t need to be on the floor.”
“You’re my queen though.”
Kara’s heart slammed in her chest and she tried to keep herself together.
He took a breath. “I had to have you before I married you.”
She smiled. “So it was worth doing up your pants in front of your uncle?”
James chuckled, “Garrett said to me, you’re in a bloody church.”
“It’s true though. So wrong.” Kara shared his amusement.
“If I go to all unworldly hell for it, I’ll take the punishment.”
She shook her head at him as he gripped her around her waist and dropped his hand in her lap, touching her rather suggestively.
“This is a very pretty dress, by the way.” He leaned closer and kissed her belly. His fingers drew up against her, under the dress and she tensed.
“James.”
“Shh.” He rubbed her, just gently at first.
“You’re so bad!” She cursed him, her breath hitching as the rubbing increased.
“Bad?” He nuzzled her stomach, his fingers dipping inside of her. “Bad how?”
“You’re just so bad.”
“Well, this might be a little bad.” He grabbed her hips, pulled her forward and she tensed.
“What are you doing?”
“Relax,” he coached her, dropping his mouth to the inside of her thighs.
She broke, wanting to grab her face but not mess up her makeup at the same time. She bit her lip hard instead.
His hands started on her knees and ran up her thighs, widening them as he dropped his head and she felt his tongue, hot on her and so good.
Her eyes rolled back and she moaned, grabbing the back of his thick head of hair and accepting what he wanted to do to her.
Kara glanced at him as he stood outside the limo, doing up the button on his jacket and offering her his hand. She hesitated in taking his aid.
“My legs are numb, James!”
He leaned down into the car door and chuckled. “You’re welcome, love.”
Kara’s cheeks were flushed. “That’s not funny. I can’t look good right now—”
“You look gorgeous,” he corrected and grabbed her hand. “On your feet.” He pulled her out of the car and she staggered up on her heels in the gravel.
She rubbed her thighs together and felt the warmth still pulsing through her, the wetness on her underwear. She grumbled, adjusting her dress.
She looked up to him and grabbed his chin. “My underwear is wet.”
He smirked. “Mm, tell me, how do you like being Mrs. Dray?”
Kara lifted an eyebrow and let her hand slip to his chest, her fingertips playing with the little black buttons under his bow-tie. “So far so good.”
“Happy to hear it.” He took her elbow and led her towards the stairs of Blackwell. They stepped inside the marble foyer. It was busy with people running back and forth.
Millie was in the middle, directing or dictating, one or the other. She saw them and forced out a smile in their direction. “You’re here.”
“Yes, we survived.”
Millie lifted her hand in a direction. “You can go along the back hall to the television room. Becky is down there with Drew. Do not go out, there’s forty minutes till it starts.”
“I think we’ll go upstairs.” James put his arm around Kara’s waist.
Millie creased her brow and eyed him up. “It’s not ready yet. The staff have been busy all morning with other duties.”
“Kara should lie down.” James was persistent and Millie gave in, waving her hand at him.
“If you must.” Millie bustled off. “Please be at the back door in thirty-nine minutes!”
James pulled Kara into him. “Let’s go relax, my love.”
Kara suddenly felt that dividing line again, that she was now a part of something greater, but it was something she wasn’t even sure of yet.
Her hands gripped into the smooth fabric of his tux as he led her, bringing her back to the firm reality that they were now married. They stepped up to his door and he opened it, letting her in ahead of him.
Even if she hadn’t been there since Christmas, it oddly felt all too familiar. She turned to the nearest window and walked to it, pulling back the sheer window coverings as he stripped off his jacket and discarded it nearby.
She peered out and her eyes took in the over-done gardens for the reception. “Oh wow, look…”
He walked up behind her and looked down at the back of the property that housed a large party tent, simple delicate decor and soft lights among its beautiful setting.
“Yes.” He kissed her neck and slipped his arms around her large stomach. “It’s going to be a good evening.”
Kara smiled and closed her eyes, enjoying his comfort. Not quite believing she was married to him and about to go celebrate that fact with their actual wedding party.
He scooped her up in his arms without warning and the baby flipped around in her stomach.
She winced. “She didn’t like that.”
He walked her to the bed and put her down, moving over the top of her carefully. “Sorry.”
Kara put her hands to her stomach as the baby kicked and squirmed. “You pissed her off.”
He pressed his palm to her stomach and dropped his nose along her belly. “Shh, Emma.”
Kara sat up in a quick movement. “You named her!” She looked down to her belly and his hand reached to cover half of it.
“I just like it. What do you think?”
“What if she’s not an Emma though—oh…” She got off the bed as her mouth watered and dashed to the bathroom as quick as her heeled feet could take her across the hall.
James followed as she leaned into the toilet and threw up. He came down beside her and pulled her perfectly curled hair away from her face.
She groaned, looking up, the awful taste of puke in her mouth ruined any glimmer of hope she had left for the moment. Her hands gripped the toilet seat in frustration. “On my wedding day… really?”
He sighed, helping her stand.
“I think I need to lie down.” She looked down to her jittery hands.
“When did you last eat?”
It had been four maybe five hours, he was likely right. Food would settle her stomach. She walked to the sink, slipping off her heels as she did.
James waited patiently behind her and she looked to him in the mirror. He was so handsome and dapper and she’d just puked in front of him.
“Want me to go get you something?”
She found a new toothbrush and paste in a stocked drawer. “I guess…”
He kissed her cheek and left her with a few minutes to herself. She needed to think. She looked down to her bump once done with her teeth and stared at it.
Apparently we’ve named you.
She put her hands to her stomach, her eyes fluttering shut. She felt dizzy, more than dizzy—vertigo dizzy.
Her head started to spin and she made her way out of the bathroom to his bedroom across the hall. She laid down on the bed right away and relaxed, it seemed to help with the random bout of nausea.
James walked back in minutes later. He had a plate in his hand and a glass of milk. “I liberated these from the kitchen.” He put down the food beside her. “Eat please. I don’t need you passing out on me.”
She sat up. If she was being honest, laying down felt a lot nicer. “This dress is a bit tight in the back.”
He sat next to her. “Do you want to take it off for a bit?”
“Maybe that will help.” She stood up, grabbing his hand as he offered it. He unzipped her dress and she stepped out of it moments later, throwing it across the foot of the bed.
She looked over her strapless bra and a full stomach, feeling a tad self -conscious in front of him. “I guess I should eat.”
He stepped out of her way and pulled back the blankets for her. She snuggled into them as he joined her, less his dress shoes and grabbed the plate of random appetizers.
She looked over her shoulder at him as he tucked her into his side and against the headboard. “You want to cuddle?”
“Half an hour till we’re subjected to a ridiculous amount of people, yes, I’d like to hold you till then.”
She leaned into his chest as he offered her some food and went for the strawberries, then the melons and finally a piece of cheese. Her stomach didn’t agree with it any more than it had empty and she gave up.
“No more…” She rubbed her stomach with a groan.
He put the food down, returning to nibble her neck.
She smiled as it distracted her from her stomach issues. “James…”
“You’re mine,” he whispered to her.
She purred from the sensations, all the way down to her toes until they curled into the quilts. She let out a giggle when he bit down on her. But that giggle quickly faded with the ache of his bite and she moaned, loving the way it felt like he was claiming her and making her his—if the wedding band hadn’t been enough.
His mouth lifted and he kissed her behind the ear.
“More…” She whispered to him.
His arm under her breasts tightened. “What do you say when you want something?”
“Please, sir.”
“Like this,” he mumbled, rearranging her on her side as he undid each button of the double-breasted vest and stripped it from his shoulders.
She wiggled when he pulled her underwear down and undid his pants with one hand. As he went to slip inside her, he took her chin, making her look at him over her shoulder while pinning her to the bed under his weight.
Her eyes fluttered when he pushed her thigh up against her tummy and edged himself inside her with a slowness that burned. Her jaw unlocked and her eyes shut.
“Look at me,” he demanded.
She forced her eyes open to do as he asked.
“You’re such a good girl, aren’t you?” He adjusted himself deep inside her and she clenched from it. She watched the effects of that on him when he didn’t thrust into her right away but instead paused to enjoy the way she tightened around him.
She nodded finally. “Only for you.”
He growled with satisfaction as the rhythm she loved came, and she moaned for him much louder than she meant to.
Her fingers played with the tiny black buttons along his shirt and she got a few undone in the process. Until she gave up and became the budding, quivering, shaking mess under him she enjoyed so much. Though the whole house maybe didn’t need to hear how much she loved him, it happened anyway.
“Yes?” he spoke to her.
She moaned as she finished for him. “Yes!”
He chuckled and slipped from her while she relaxed into the bed.
She opened her eyes as she felt the smudge of makeup in one corner and tried to fix it. “You didn’t finish.”
“That’s alright.” He kissed her shoulder as she caught her breath. Her chest heaving from the level of lovely hormones he’d just made her bask in.
“That was much better than up against the door.”
He smiled. “The door was for me. That was for you…”
“I see and the limo ride here?”
“Right, that was for you too.” He winked at her.
“I’m so lucky,” she giggled and pulled him close to meet his lips for a kiss.
“Mm.” He lifted off her and stood, looking over his dishevelled clothing. “What did you do to my bloody shirt?” He attempted to realign some of the undone buttons.
She pulled the blankets up her shoulders and laughed. “You took advantage of me, sir.”
“You liked it.” He grunted, finally getting his shirt back under control and tucking it into his pants.
She let out a breath, watching him fix himself in front of the standing mirror nearby and put his vest back on. The satin stripe down the side of his pant leg gave her something to follow until she got to his black socks. She hadn’t gotten that view in the morning of him dressing but watching him dress now made up for it. He turned and found his shoes, looking just as pristine as he did at the end of the aisle waiting for her in the church.
“You should get dressed, love.” He sat on the bed and she watched him slip on the patent black shoes. Sharp just wasn’t a good enough word to describe him that day, he was blowing her senses in the slim lined tux.
She sat up slowly from the soft pillows, her hair falling all along her shoulders. “Why do you like it when I call you sir?”
His eyes lifted to her as he paused from standing to pick up her wedding dress.
“I’m not sure you want to know,” he teased but there was an edge of seriousness to it. “Come.” He helped her off the bed and she stood. He gave her the dress and she stepped into it, waiting for him to do up the zipper.
“So you’re not going to tell me?”
His hands came along her spine and fixed her into the dress, putting her dark waves back in place.
“We had some staff go on vacation more than a few years ago, the only temporary replacement Garrett found was a young blonde named Iyana. She refused to call me James. Everything was sir. When I got back from practice on the last day she was with us, she asked me ‘can I get on my knees, sir?.’ I said yes and she undid my trousers. I liked the way it made me feel when she said that to me, I enjoyed the dynamic it created. I will admit though, I like it best when it comes from your mouth.”
Kara turned slowly toward him and stared. “That’s messed up.”
He thought about it a moment. “Was it wrong to fuck a maid? Entirely. Do I regret it? Not really.”
Kara smacked his chest. “Gross!”
“You asked,” he chuckled and walked to the chaise to slip on his black suit jacket. “And lucky for me, you like it.”
Her cheeks got hot. “If the story is that messed up in the future, you have my permission to just lie to me. Okay?”
He laughed and walked up to her. “Right. Let’s go to our wedding reception.”
