Final Chapter;
Astrid's POV.
I slowly pushed myself up from the bed, rubbing my eyes as I took in my surroundings. The room was quiet, and for a moment, loneliness washed over me like a cold wave.
But then I turned to the window and saw Dane, his strong frame leaning against the sill. He cradled our baby, Hayden, in his arms. A smile crept across my face at the sight of them together. They looked perfect.
“You're awake late! We had plans for today, but you overslept,” Dane teased as he walked over to me. He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on my lips. The warmth of his affection spread through me, making me feel safe and loved.
It had been a month since everything turned upside down—a month since the terrifying nightmare that almost took our lives. After escaping to the pack with Ethan, I had spent many sleepless nights, my mind racing with fears. I was terrified that Dane would sacrifice our child, that he wouldn’t care about us. But I was wrong.
Dane would never hurt our baby. He and Ethan took turns explaining everything, helping me understand the truth. I had only heard part of the story.
For the entire eight months I was gone, Dane watched over us from a distance. He could have taken Hayden if he wanted, but he chose not to. He risked everything for me.
When I finally returned home, I witnessed Halfdan, the Alpha, holding Camilla, his mate, as he cried in agony over their loss.
My heart broke for them. I never wanted to feel that kind of pain. I needed to find my way back to happiness.
The full moon had passed, but Dane was still trapped, unable to return to his human form. He was caught between being a man and a beast.
Just when I thought all hope was lost, a letter from my mother arrived, written before she passed away.
It revealed the truth about the curse that came with being a moon healer—something Dane also carried. I learned that the curse was never about killing our child; it was about needing a tiny drop of blood. Edmond had twisted the story, hoping to drive a wedge between us and harm Dane.
In the end, it turned out that just a drop of Hayden's blood mixed with Dane’s was all it took to break the curse.
My son, with his powerful lineage as a moon healer, could save his father. And in the end, Edmond paid the price for his deceit. He was sold off to the Lycan slaves, banished from our pack, forced to work as a servant for the rest of his life.
The bond between the Bluestone Pack and the Red Moon Pack had been my mother’s dying wish. Halfdan decided that being Alpha without Camilla wasn’t worth it. He wanted peace, to explore nature, and connect with the moon goddess. The letter he sent to Beta Drake to deliver to me made my heart ache.
Who could have imagined my life would take such a wild turn? It wasn’t all fun and games, but somehow, it ended well. I felt a new happiness blooming inside me.
Just then, a loud knock broke my thoughts. Dane's eyes flicked away from me as he turned his head toward the door.
“It’s urgent, Alpha Dane!” Ivar's voice came through, firm and urgent.
“Come in,” Dane replied, his brow furrowing slightly.
Some things never changed.
Ivar stepped into the room, his expression serious. “Good morning, Alpha Astrid. Good morning, Alpha Dane. The council of elders is downstairs. They’re waiting for a meeting. I’m sorry for interrupting, but it’s about Hayden’s coronation as the Young Alpha Heir.”
As Ivar spoke, Ethan strolled in behind him, a playful smirk on his lips. “That title suits you well,” he quipped, walking toward Dane, who looked less than pleased.
“I’m only taking on the title; we all know who does the real work here,” I said proudly. Even though our packs were united, I remained the Alpha of the Bluestone Pack.
“Nobody cares about him,” Ethan teased, winking at me. “You, Alpha Astrid, are the one stealing the show.”
“Are you trying to flirt with my mate in front of me?” Dane raised an eyebrow, trying to hide his amusement.
“Hey, you can keep her! I’m here for my favorite cousin,” Ethan shot back, reaching for Hayden, who was sleeping peacefully in Dane’s arms.
“Get your hands off him! He’s my son, not yours!” Dane growled, instinctively pulling Hayden closer to him, shielding him from Ethan's reach.
Some things would never change. If my parents were still alive, they would see how far I had come. I had built a good life for myself.
The moon goddess had blessed me with a wonderful family, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I loved my life, my past, my pain. It all led me to this beautiful moment.
The memories flooded my mind—Halfdan and Camilla, the complicated relationship Dane and I had shared. Every struggle had shaped me, and now it wasn’t just Dane and me anymore; it was our beautiful son, Hayden, the moon healer.
I looked at Hayden, my heart swelling with love. He was our future.
“Alright, let’s get this meeting over with,” I said, breaking the moment of tension. “I want to make sure Hayden is ready for his big day.”
Dane nodded, and with one last glance at our son, we headed toward the door, ready to face whatever challenges awaited us.
As we stepped into the hallway, I felt a sense of unity. We were a family, stronger together, ready to take on the world.
The meeting with the pack elders would be important, and I knew we would face it together.
I was no longer just Astrid; I was Alpha Astrid, a mother, and a protector of my family. And as we walked toward the future, I couldn’t help but feel hopeful about what was to come.
Together, we would overcome any obstacles. We would find joy in our journey and celebrate every victory, big or small. And as long as we stood together, nothing could tear us apart.
As we approached the stairs leading down to the gathering, my heart raced with anticipation. This was more than just a meeting; it was a new chapter for our family. I was ready to embrace my role, not just as a leader, but as a mother who would protect her child at all costs.
With each step, I could feel the support of my pack behind us. They believed in me and my family, and that fueled my determination. I wouldn’t let anyone or anything stand in our way. Today marked the beginning of Hayden’s journey, and I was determined to make it memorable.
When we reached the bottom of the stairs, I took a deep breath and squared my shoulders. The elders were gathered in the large meeting room, their expressions serious but respectful. They acknowledged our presence, and I felt a sense of pride swelling within me.
“Welcome, Alpha Astrid, Alpha Dane,” Elder Greta said, her voice strong and steady. “We are here to discuss Hayden’s future as the Young Alpha Heir.”
“Thank you for gathering,” I replied, my voice clear and confident. “We want to ensure Hayden is ready for this important role and understands what it means to lead our pack.”
Dane stood beside me, his presence steady and reassuring. I could feel his pride radiating toward me, and it gave me strength. Together, we would guide Hayden into this new world.
As the elders began to speak, sharing their wisdom and insights, I listened intently, taking mental notes on everything they said. I wanted Hayden to grow into a leader who would make his own decisions, but I also wanted him to have the foundation to build on.
Hours passed, filled with discussions about traditions, responsibilities, and the challenges that lay ahead. I felt a mix of excitement and anxiety, knowing that my little boy would one day carry the weight of our pack on his shoulders.
Finally, as the meeting wrapped up, I stood before the council, my heart racing. “Thank you all for your guidance. We will do everything we can to prepare Hayden for the path ahead.”
As we left the meeting room, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. The love I felt for my family fueled my determination to create a brighter future for Hayden.
“Are you ready for this?” Dane asked, glancing down at me with a mixture of admiration and concern.
I smiled up at him, feeling stronger than ever. “Absolutely. We’ll face this together.”
As we walked back to our room, I took Hayden into my arms, cradling him against my chest. His tiny body fit perfectly against mine, and I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with love.
“You are going to be an incredible leader one day,” I whispered to him, kissing his forehead. “You’ll make us proud.”
Dane wrapped his arms around us, pulling us close. In that moment, I felt like everything was exactly as it should be. We were a family, united and ready to take on whatever life had in store for us.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow through the window, I felt a sense of peace settle over me. The struggles of the past had brought us here, and I wouldn’t trade this moment for anything. Together, we would overcome every challenge, celebrate every victory, and cherish every moment of our beautiful journey ahead.
With a heart full of hope and a spirit ready to fight for my family, I looked toward the future, knowing that no matter what came we'd always win.
