"You might want to sit down, this will take a while.” I insisted and they both sat at either side of me. I told them everything that I had gone through, beginning from right after I was banished from the Pack.

After telling them everything, they expressed that they were filled with mixed feelings. They were sad that they couldn't be a part of my life for so long and they were happy that even though the future had seemed bleak, I had broken out of the miserable life of a slave and had made much more for myself. In the journey of life, I had gone from a slave to a princess, I have two loving families now, I have an angelic mate and a beautiful daughter with a bundle of joy on the way. I don't think I can ask for more, I believe that my life is already perfect. All that's left to do is to protect my perfect life and prevent Zephyr from ruining it, a task that I don't know if I'm ready for but as it stands right now, I don't really have a choice.
"We may not have been there when you had Nevaeh but we're certainly here for you now that you're pregnant again. I'll make sure to take care of you and feed you with my own hands." My mother said and I smiled.
"Thanks mum, I would really love that. Can I please meet Lydia now, I'm really eager to see what she looks like." I requested and mum smiled.
"Of course, but we would also like to spend some time with Nevaeh please." She requested.
"You don't even have to ask, you're her grandmother so of course you have every right to her. I just have one request, now that I'm living my best life, I don't know what Zephyr to know about any of it because I know how terrible he is. He must not find out that Nevaeh is his daughter under any circumstance because if he does, all hell will be let loose. He'll try to take her away from me and I don't want that. So if you're going to be spending time with Nevaeh, you have to do it very discreetly and only in this room.
I'm trying to make sure that she doesn't come in contact with Zephyr because she shares a striking resemblance with him and he'll be able to figure it out quickly.
Being here is a risk that I decided to take so I'm being very cautious in order to ensure that I don't regret it." I said and my mother took my hands in hers.
"We completely understand you dear and we'll only do as you say. After finding out all the terrible things that Alpha Zephyr did to you, I wouldn't want him to know anything about Nevaeh as well. If he was twisted enough to treat his own mate the way he did, then he certainly can't be trusted with a child. It's better that he doesn't know. At least now I understand why he was looking for you so frantically after we found out that Alpha Davis was actually murdered by rogues. We had assumed that he just wanted to apologise and we're just as repentant as we were but we never knew that it was so much deeper." My mum said and my dad continued.
"You don't have to worry dear, your secret is safe with us. No one will ever know, we'll spend as much time as we can with Nevaeh but only behind closed doors. When you return to the Kizmet Pack, we'll come visit you so we can finally meet with our son in-law and personally thank the generous people who have taken good care of you when you needed it." He finished and I hugged them both. So far so good, everything has been going well.
I should be able to return to Kizmet by tomorrow or maybe the day after, I don't want to spend any more time than I need to here while knowing that Zephyr is the one in control. Just having to stay here is giving me the creeps and I don't think I'll be able to sleep much tonight.
"Let's go." My mother urged and I followed them out of the room. As we walked through the corridor, I thought I saw a shadow behind a wall for a split second but when I looked again, there was nothing there. It must just be my imagination, especially since I'm still feeling uncomfortable here.
I heaved a sigh and smiled, I should only be happy now, I'll meet my niece for the first time.

Zephyr's POV
I waited patiently amidst my anxiety to see if everything would go well and my efforts finally paid off when I saw Evelyn come out of her room with her parents and thankfully, she didn't look angry.
She suddenly turned back and I had to hide myself quickly so she wouldn't see me. I didn't want her to know that I had been here the whole time waiting to see the outcome of things.
Not the whole time actually, I had had to leave when a girl caught me lurking around, she isn't part of the pack so I quickly realized that she must be a part of Evelyn's people and it would be disastrous if she actually caught an inkling of what I was doing so I had to pretend like I was just passing by.
We exchanged brief pleasantries and I had to leave while she entered Evelyn's room. When I attempted to quickly return to my hiding spot, urgent work came so I returned to my spot a little later and I've been here about an hour since. The girl didn't come out with Evelyn and her parents so I guess she must have left while I was away, I don't really care though, all that matters to me right now is winning Evelyn's love.
I hid carefully, my heart beating wildly against my chest, I can't afford to make a sound right now. When I heard footsteps that seemed to be going farther away from my hiding spot, I relaxed a bit and took a peek. I saw that she had resumed following her parents and on a closer look, she seemed to be smiling happily. It was a genuine smile and it only made her more beautiful, my heart thumped in my chest and I felt something stir within me for the first time.
Is this the feeling you get when you make someone else you care about happy? I've been a very selfish person for the most part of my life so I've never known that this feeling actually existed and to be honest, it's gratifying. I feel a smile forming at the edge of my lips as I congratulate myself for a job well done, I'd actually done the right thing for once and made Evelyn smile.
This would be the beginning of my self transformation. I won't be able to win her over if she thinks that I'm still the same person so no matter how difficult it is, I'll have to change and become a better person and Evelyn will help me do it.
Now I have to proceed to the next step of my plan, make a public apology.
It shouldn't be too difficult, right?
